Boatman CL4 problems
Carpbell_ll replied to BIVVYSLAYER's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Looks like a good boat you may find it is just a case of setting up the different programs a lot of kit on that boat, the handset will take some getting the hang off. What gets me about boats is why don't they put a cheap Go Pro type camera on them, seen a guy on pine pool with one that he fitted himself works a treat. -
Glad other people have issues on day ticket waters i thought it was me, you can guarantee on every day ticket water i have fished some lump tries to give it the big i am. either by plotting up in the very next peg even though there are plenty of empty pegs or moaning about baiting up, cast to the far margins and some **** no where near the peg i just cast into decides to move into that peg after trying unsuccessfully to get me to move my rig by puffing the chest out, looked like a cold pigeon. Why do working guys with a mortgage suddenly become the kray twins when out fishing?

Boatman CL4 problems
Carpbell_ll replied to BIVVYSLAYER's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
If i just looked at the bait boat in question you need to be a lot firmer whilst remaining civil in your approach to the boat makers it is advertised as having a warning alarm for low batteries and before they run out it is meant to return to point of launch, You may find the batteries need to be charged and run near flat a few times before they will take a as advertised full charge, if you are not happy with the boat at that price tell them you are sending it back and want a full refund due to the product not being as advertised. -
Just as a observation with fox banksticks, pods and stands, that collar on the pods should be the same diameter as the outer section of fox cam-loc banksticks, the goal post bars should be the same diameter as the bankstick inserts, that would fit the stands, sticks and pod collars, so yes they should fit.

The place i get my ticket will ask what waters you have fished and how you got on before offering a ticket, they don't mind inexperienced anglers it's the know it alls' that think rules for nodds don't apply to them, like no plastic baits or leaders when the weed it thick.

Bishops Bowl had to close last year due to a ammonia spike they do mix the match fishing up on some of their waters plus they are filling them in to reduce the depth already done Mitre and have nearly done Greenhills lot of trucks coming and going dropping demolition hardcore off. Think they may have had some sort of KHV problem as well that kicked in just after the nitrates change. nice people that run the the place but they need to put the foot down a bit by the sound of things on FB.

I do like the cone PVA bags, sticking to bait and baiting up tools and end tackle should help keep you competitive, didn't think that carp super store would last long small shops seem to do better when on a big lake site. AD will be the only large shop the way they are heading.

Get yourself a good lose leader something that sells due to being a necessity and sell it it at cost or even a lose so long as it is a fair bit cheaper than elsewhere, Spombs as an example, if you can get full wholesale discount you could shift them cheap, I do think in carp angling there is a bit of a gentleman's agreement in operation prices seem to be fixed as a standard in retail sales, all the big items such as bivvys and barrows are priced the same all round. Stocks are low at the mo, a lot of barrows and bivvys are out of stock

Fluorocarbon Mainlines
Carpbell_ll replied to fishingaddict's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I like using fluro it suits the waters i fish size wise plus i started to use it a few years back now to get rid of the leader. I have only used Tiger line on baitrunner 6000 reels, never had a problem with it casts very well i can fish any swim with it on the lakes i fish, you do have to clean it though. -
What flavour are cc moore ns1 pop ups
Carpbell_ll replied to Carp123_0's topic in UK Bait and Bait Making
To be fair it's in Marston to us locals think you may have the wrong bedworth the one i'm on about is a little town at the top of the Longford rd, it's pretty much part of Coventry other than you have to go under the M6 to get to it. The guy that runs it is from Cov and started out at home, used to do a lot of bait rolling for other companies as well as custom orders, mainly just does his own three baits these days nothing you can't get elsewhere but the ingredients are the best quality in a very well made bait. -

CC moor do mail order from their website, the place i get mine is called Coventry Carp Baits they have a little work unit in Bedworth where they make and sell from i use them as it is local meaning i can pick good bait up as and when i want it. There boilies really are top notch think he does small orders for around £8 a kilo, if you like Sticky's Krill you will love Cov Gold got the maximum amounts of Krill and GLM you can get into a bait. -

Lol They do smell nice if you like fruity sweets you will want to eat them, the bait maker i get mine from do a few different Midland Specials, one is a zingy pear smell the other is a new blackberry that is looking good. The Midland special and the Northern special have put me a few 30's on the bank now from a number of different waters. -
Jrc contact overwrap required
Carpbell_ll replied to Simon Hinson's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Having the same problem with the contact two man bought it and never got round to getting the overwrap, there is a few other skins said to fit it, want something with better venting and full front mozzie mesh, so don't think i will bother trying to find a wrap another coat of dubbing will do for the summer. -
Lol, in terms of the manly men that cruse the place at night, no they will not bother you other than a passing chat if they see you, very good to get local info from on the more nefarious goings on, it's the violent petty criminals you would need to avoid , just don't be running around with a yellow duster hanging out your back pocket.

Fox Camolite Explorer Barrow
Carpbell_ll replied to ‘Carpy’ Diem's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I get a couple of 5 litre water bottles from icelands 1 pound each nice strong handles and lids take them home and refill them. -
Don't mind a big bream myself, not had a bream since the brace i had out of pine pool, one of the reasons i carry scales and a camera today, both were easy doubles and that is all i will say on size guessing that catch, the ranger was very interested when told, very few bream in that water and very old they may of been in there since before pine pool and surrounding smaller waters were cut into one lake.

I'll go with the don't use gas for heating unless you are fully aware and confident, i would definitely use propane over butane, most camping gas does not burn clean enough for indoor heating, best thing and safest if you really want a heater is to get a good silent generator and a halogen bulb heater, that's the rig i'd get if i ever had the dosh for a good quality bait boat.

Looks alright paper work looks good so not much to haggle about. you could mention the road tax is getting high on diesel engines asking for a years road tax will get a better response than trying to knock money off for any other reason. I run a 2 liter diesel, love it the the fuel costs are better than my 1.3 fiesta petrol.

Bait "sprays".......your thoughts???
Carpbell_ll replied to smufter's topic in UK Bait and Bait Making
The place i get my bait from don't like you glugging the frozen baits, maybe a bit of salmon oil or something natural but they say the bait works best when fished as is, glugs and powders are for hook baits, i have a tub of wafters and pop ups that have been in the fridge for over a year getting regular top ups of GLM powder and salmon oil on the pop ups and GLM with Krill hydro on the wafters, pungent is an understatement they will about ready by next month. It's a bit like asking for salt in a restaurant lol. -
Mosquitoe/general bug repellent
Carpbell_ll replied to The_Viking_Angler's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Another one that should work for a bad bite is a crushed aspirin pressed into the bite, must of learnt more at BB than i remember, lol. -
They do a leader that has a half swivel on one of the leaders so you use a heli-safe set up from Korda,
-
A metre or there about would be good, you can get fluro leaders from a company called Gemini Carp tackle, they come fused with a loop.

The best budget spod kit around...
Carpbell_ll replied to pablo7uk's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Nice you will be able to bung the biggest spods out with that, i use a old stillwater BPX 3lbtc rod for my spombing and marker rod, it's one of those things i mean to replace but something else comes up. I did pick a set of second hand fox torque rods up a few years back, paid near full retail for them glad i did. can't believe Fox discontinued them, i honestly think it was a product to good for its price range cutting into their more pricey rod range one or the other had to go. -

Carpbell_ll replied to pablo7uk's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Bit of spodding advice if you don't mind, what ever reel you get if you are using a heavy spod make sure the spool is at the bottom of the reel spindle before casting, some guys like the spool at the top of the spindle which will lead to a bend in the reel spindle and that can happen on the most expensive of spodding reels when slinging out your best munga TMKorda.
