  1. I don't have one myself but Waverunner are a good boat maker and it would make a great gift for any angler, wouldn't worry about fish finders he can always fit a deeper to the back and tow the finder if he wants one, that is what most people with bait boats do. Bait boats and fish finders used to be a bit controversial but in recent years more big name anglers are using them. Terry Hearn for one and the Korda boys use the deeper.
  2. Came across these when out with the dog today, one is a fly Agaric not sure on the smaller one could be a Wax Cap? left them alone looks like a deer or somthing has had a bite of the larger one.
  3. AD are already starting to sell bigger items at full RRP at certain times of the year they may be the only shop to have things like barrows and bivvies in stock.
  4. All the Chestnut teams will be out soon they fill sacks up near me and sell them on must be some money in it. between them and the locals that have a few the squirrels must be starving by mid-winter. they use a stick to turn the leaves over, must of grabbed a few dog truffles in the past.
  5. After growing up in a high crime and drug area with the sort of problems most smaller towns and cities are seeing today my views on drugs are similar to elmoputney. Cannabis should be sold with the same regulations as booze, with restrictions in place on THC content, i think the 97 percent THC extracts you can get in the USA are just silly, Drugs like Coke and amphetamines should not be legal they cause way too much harm. LSD and real MDMA not the synthetic stuff should also be regulated and sold to adults if they wish to use such things. Heroin addiction should be treated as a health issue and not a criminal thing at a user level. i would go as far as providing petty criminals that use theft to fund their addiction with supervised heroin use, taking long term addicts out of the black market, the vast majority of new heroin users are introduced to the drug by other users. it would also cut the number of street prostitutes back by a considerable amount as they only work the streets to fund a very serious drug addiction, the same thing was tried in Switzerland and had a positive result in cutting crime. Just my opinion not looking for a debate.
  6. Got to feel a bit sorry for the Eastern euros there has been a problem with them eating what they catch but not to the level the hysterics would have us believe all the guys i have meet out fishing have been nothing but decent, they do like to take a drink with them and BBQ, the last lad was offering me whiskey and beer, they seem to like stanwicks always a few on there. The Sun aims their news at the raging reactionary type that does not fact check the froth they are being served. Viva the revolution, lol.
  7. Eastern Europeaned lol i set up in a peg a few months that had a real nasty ming to it, yet if i don't pick up after the dog we both get banned. Most of the fisheries i have visited these past few years have porta bogs but to be honest i can usually hang on till i get home.
  8. Actual footage of the lake just after putting a bit of feed in the margin.
  9. Nice there was a kingfisher working the lake i was on last week but it was too fast for me to get a pic, there are some big shoals of roch in there the margins was teaming with fry.
  10. Get a little file the taska one works and doesn't cost silly money and just touch the hook up after a few fish, the hooks last a lot longer, as for when to change depends on the situation at the time.
  11. If you had the same hook on that you used on the first day it may of become dull, especially if it was a korda hook, you can hone the hook point at least once before changing. I got some of those new korda sharpened hooks in a krank pattern very pleased with them so far. although, the hook did come out in the net. I have also found that a size 8 hook can be a bit hit and miss on a pop up rig, never used one on a bottom bait I use a size 6 for most of my fishing and would happily use a size 4 for snowman rigs.
  12. Damn good joke about crocs doing the rounds cant share it here though too crude not even pm safe. Lol
  13. Just lately i have been going back to quick pasta meals, pot noodle and those packet things, few tins of rice pud and some porridge, simple and quick. Used to take a double burner with grill and a big camping gaz bottle, can't be bothered with all that silliness these days.
  14. I like to mix my loose feed usually a couple of kilo of mixed pellet a half bag of hemp i think they are two kilo bags i buy a half bag of frozen corn and a kilo or two of boilies. I think it is silly for me to put just boilies in the lake as it means getting out less often, I would happily mix different brand boilies in my spomb mix, if they were free. I doubt jim shelly would be putting out 50 kilo or more a week if he was paying for it, probably still catch the same fish too.
  15. Looks similar to the cov gold if the gold part is the haith's robin gold, I certainly like using it it's one of those baits that brings hunger pangs on when using it, 4.50 a kilo is an awesome price i'm paying 7.50 a kilo but that is buying one or two at a time, the wafters and hard hookers that match are quality as well. I have been soaking some wafters in a tuna extract liquid for a couple of weeks then as they dry out giving them a coat of GLM powder, the powder hardens on to the bait nice taking time to dissolve in the lake.
  16. Bait boats it is then 😁 I still use a 12 footer for my spomb and marker work, can get quite a good lob with it too, it's an old Still Water 3lb BPX does the job nicely with a mini spomb takes longer to get the bait out but never seen it spook fish hardly makes a splash on landing in comparison to the larger spombs.
  17. Try a bag of the GLM pellets, i mix a couple of handfuls into the coppens pellets they have a quick breakdown time putting out a nice GLM signal in your swim.
  18. Give these guys a try i had some pellets off them, they do boilies as well delivery was spot on 👍 https://www.purepellet.co.uk/bait/boilies-popups-flavours/
  19. I'm more than happy with my 10 footers, even with a 6000 size baitrunner on fluro mainline and a 2 oz lead i can cast the length of a football pitch, the park pitches are full size so that's between 90m-120m, if i was to use a larger reel with a casting line and 3oz lead i bet i could easily hit a bit better than that. My 12 foot rods were a cheap set in comparison, but i have always felt a 12 foot rod was the wrong size for me.
  20. On the water i mentioned you need to text them your peg number it is so they can keep track of who's in what peg. I follow the fishery on FB they were raging the other day due to someone dropping a deuce in the peg and leaving for the staff to clear up, it's not an overgrown water the pegs are open view so they must of done it at night, too scared to walk up to the lavs in the dark.
  21. Shh.. if nick was about he would merge them 😮 I avoided runs waters for years as i thought they would be full of battered fish i was surprised to find out that wasn't the case, never had a bad looking fish out of Barston, Stockton res seems alright as well, think most damage comes from the fish dragging snapped off line with the lead still on anglers fishing fixed leads is rare these days, so it is something we should be seeing a lot less of.
  22. When looking at a water you fancy visiting is there anything about the way they are run or rules on bait tackle or angling style that puts you off? Nice little water close to me i would like to fish but you have to be a member to fish there that's ok in itself but they also want you to text them and let them know what peg you are in, not that i move pegs much once set up but it's nice to have the option to move freely around the lake without having to send a text message every time.
  23. Use your teeth to chew it up Terry Hearn style, double dare ya 😃
  24. For some of us shorter guys a 10'' rod is easier to cast that a 12'' rod i can get better distance with more accuracy with my 10 footers, i don't buy into the whole better to cast under trees, when i was using 12's in a tight swim i would just pop a pair of waders on and stand in the margins to cast out. Really happy with my Fox Torques some of the other brands are a bit pricey and i don't like telescopic rods, if i was after a set of twelve foot rods again and had the money i would definitely go for the Torques again, the only downside being they don't come with a line clip. Fox sell those separate.
