  1. I have done mine a couple of times works a treat. sometimes the pound shops will have small cans of spray on dubbing, if i can get that i will use it, they rarely stock it though and they will of put all the camping gear away until next spring. Go out doors would be next on my list, they do a few different brands both spray on or brush, i'd go with the cheapest option, as it will work just fine.
  2. As salokcinnodrog said just an error, they are dead fair on here with posts and moving them around, threads often get merged or moved. i noticed the rod licence tread had a spring clean earlier this year,
  3. There was two treads , admin has probably deleted one of them, they normally move any posts over to the thread with the most replies in the event of a double thread post.
  4. If you do get shot of the braid you could do a lot worse than a good fluorocarbon fished straight through, i have used it on some real snaggy waters and never been let down yet. I have only used tiger line, as my reels only hold 250 meters of line it it don't hurt too much filling them up, plus it out lives other lines by a very long margin.
  5. Can vouch for the JRC contact, very basic but a nice strong build, I have a bed by Carpzone lovely bit of kit, if i ever replace my bivvy i will go with one of the carp zone offerings.
  6. Night fishing is a bit thin on the ground around these parts, Kingsbury Water Park are doing their once a month night weekends from now till the end of September, keep hearing rumors that they are going full time night fishing on the membership ticket, i will believe it when i see it though. There is also Napton and Stockton reservoirs and Hopsford hall near Rugby.
  7. Sure is chub make some cracking gear, it will serve you well for years to come.
  8. If anyone can put a name to this instrumental track being performed by the Luster Kings i would be real grateful, don't know if its a cover by them or one of their tracks, only ever heard it on TV shows before. some of their other stuff is good too, if you like that Rocker Billy sound
  9. Bet that's like looking for a needle in a haystack, did a bit of perch fishing on the barrhead dams in glasgow, many a year ago, levigsp has looked into carp in Scotland, if he sees this thread he might be able to help. Welcome to the forum.
  10. One of those memory foam mattress toppers might help, there are a fair few about nowadays
  11. I recently plumped for a Carp Zone bedchair, so glad i did after a few seasons on a basic no padding job, big difference and very well made too, bit on the heavy side but when you chuck it on the barrow, what's it matter. Just need a bigger bivey now, you wouldn't get two in the JRC contact two birth.
  12. Rob Hughes has mentioned using big halibut pellets along side your bait and loose feed , keeps them occupied as they love 'em with the bonus of smashing the halibut pellets up and sending out extra attraction in your swim. Plenty of the sods in the rivers on this side of the midlands, cybrox.
  13. One from a local band, just released their first LP this is a single that is for release from said LP, i have known the lead singer for years great bloke we both worked on the M40 when it was being built.
  14. Nice to hear good things about the TFGs, i have been looking for a third fox alarm to go with the two i bought from the car boot a few years back, can't find one other than e bay, which i don't use. So a new set is on the cards, may as well get something with a receiver.
  15. I can second the reel mentioned by greekskii, i have one for my market/spomb set up, i use a 3lb test carp rod with a mini spomb, so can't really comment on rods, other than £400 is a heck of a lot of money, but then again having the matching set would also appeal to me.
  16. I fish my line going through the inline lead and tied to a fox no 7 quick link, my hook length has a loop tied to the swivel end that i can remove from the quick link and thread a bag on before each cast. I don't use a leader, but have in the past, it would depend on the water you are fishing and the mainline you use, i haven't used tubing in a long time, tubing has moved on since then, i would happily use some of the tungsten tubing the is about these days, years ago it was very stiff and had no sinking properties, today's tubing is different, and if i was unsure on how to use a leader safely the tubing would be an excellent alternative.
  17. Soz forgot to address the PVA part. That's what i also had problems with, difficult to get a bag on and didn't half mess the cast up, you could try a quick link for the hook length and thread one on that, but it's a bit wobbly in flight.
  18. Not a big fan of the helicopter lead set up, had a play with it the last few years on a chod, didn't come close to my normal in line set up, i will be sticking to that from now on.
  19. Quality bit of filming that, thanks for sharing.
  20. 16lb Tiger line, cant fault it, other than having to clean it after each session, i had a pike get it in its mouth on Monday, no damage what so ever, even the lake owner was surprised it didn't cut the line, great stuff, wouldn't want to fill a big spool up with it though
  21. There were no fish showing earlier this week, it was like they had gone into hiding, the one i had came at 7am, fair few anglers on the lake too, nothing happening in the margins, had the bobbin raise on the margin rod, but it didn't turn into anything.
  22. Magic Lump, with the unofficial video, bit close to the knuckle to post here, but funny as hell.
  23. After my last outing i have decided to look into a new stove,i am currently using one of those flat square cookers, the problems with gas in cold weather and the space it takes up in my bag means i'm looking at one of these by Vango, i know a lot of anglers use similar, if i was to get the 450 gram gas bottle, would that be good for two-three days light use, mainly making tea and cooking one evening meal, most of the time i go for a breakfast on my second day out and have a sandwich in the evening, snacks in-between is normally a bowl of museli http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/folding-stove-p153190
  24. Britain still had naval bases in Singapore into the late 1960s, my cousin was born there as his dad was serving in the navy at the time.
  25. A lot of people in the midlands would agree with that, there are also strong accusations from reliable sources that MM was a British asset, when you look at what his generation did with the republican movement, took what was founded by both Protestant and Catholic Irish and turned it into a sectarian struggle, classic tactics for breaking an insurrection.
