Brilliant mate sounds like you and the buzzard has both had a right result ππ

Always the way mate lol. Even if you donβt fish you could pre bait with it all and go back the following day π Done about 50 spombs so far, gonna rebait the rods in a min so will put some more out again π All the carp I can see that are rolling are at the top end of the reservoir in the out of bounds / nature reserve. Iβm as close as I can get to them so putting a load of bait out and hopefully they pass down this way come across it π

Gone to the 91 acre reservoir. Started spombing bait out and along came two swans. They keep trying to attack me when I fill the spomb up they want the particles in my bait bucket π splashed water at it to make it go away but it only made it angrier and now every time I go into the water it starts coming at me πππ caught 1 bream within 10 minutes of rod being out ππ

According to the scales I got 23.5kg of particle and and 7kg in total of boilies for a 3 possibly 4 day session starting tomorrow ππ Still undecided where Iβm going to go, got 2 reservoirs in mind. Both decent stocks and lots of 20s and fish close to 40. one is about 80 acres the other is 91. Will have to decide in the morning π

What is the best knot for a mono mainline to a braided leader when spodding/spombing?
-
Chest waders, broom handle and a small foldable saw. I had to get through about 30ft of 6ft high stingers to access a stretch of river the other week. I plowed through it whacking the nettles down with the broom handle and used the saw to remove small branches. Chest waders help protect from nettles and bugs ππ just donβt make your entrance too obvious because people will check it out. Same with river swims once they see the opening they want to fish it lol.

My tigers went a bit bad, smelt like alcohol so binned them off. Iβve washed the bucket out with hot water but it still has the alcohol/fermented smell to it. Any idea how to get rid of it or do I not need to worry??

Nice mate, I guess want to be doing 5kg batches at a time and freeze. Iβve been watching a few videos last night, watched some of John bakers stuff, very knowledgeable bloke π Then I watched some other guy who was showing his set ups from doing a small batch to stepping it up to a bigger batch etc. He suggested using something like a paddle mixer that the plasterers use. Hereβs the video I found it pretty useful Then the John baker video if youβre interested π

Thatβs a good idea mate ππ how much base mix could you mix up at a time with that do you reckon?
-
Might have to mate, they got them pretty cheap in gooutdoors at the moment. Itβs just working out how to get it on your area if that makes sense lol. Iβve got the bug bad, I want to get out again, considering either going to a 81 acre reservoir or go back to the one I was at last time. The one I was at last time has a nice bank, lots of trees etc with a load of 20s to 38 just a lovely place to be and the 81 is a massive open reservoir that has such a blow going across it people go wind sailing or whatever itβs called lol but yeah the wind gets that bad you have like little waves crashing on the shore spraying foam stuff at ya brolly ππ Again very good head of 20s up to 45 I believe. Might have to flip a coin ππ

How much you planning on making at a time? Iβm considering rolling again but hate needing the base mix into a dough. ive been looking into some dough mixers like a Hobart but they are quite pricey even second hand. Was thinking about getting a clean/new drum for a cement mixer and trying that ππ

I canβt handle it anymore lol in my late teens early 20s we used to go out all night and go to the pub the next day for breakfast and a pint with no sleep and continue drinking to the night lol. Go to work on a Monday morning and sweat the hangover out by lunch. Just thinking about it gives me borderline anxiety attacks π If I go out just for a night now I will be sofa bound the whole day afterwards and feel rough for about 3 days. I go about once or twice a year now thatβs enough for me π
-
The catty is no good for me, I always end up getting a slap on my knuckles from the pouch π the stick is good but I done 3kg 16mm with it on my last session I think any more than a kilo I will use a spomb in future π
-
Brilliant π hopefully you get one by the end π My arm is in bits this morning I can barely grip a coffee I think Iβve over done it with the throwing stick πsticking to the spomb next time π

Many times, usually buying stuff I will never use π -
Airing the fishing stuff out before I put it away and the dog has took a liking to the bed chair π

Iβve done a bit of walking during the close season and walked a bit on the canal, seen lots of mullet and one carp on the river and nothing on the canal, itβs had thick weed since last year lol.
-
That work is a nightmare pal π itβs my first night session in over a year might even be 2 now I think lol.
-
I had one bream and that was it, lots of canoes out which didnβt help but I will try again soon π Iβve just got to a reservoir for a night or two, maybe three depending on how it goes π

Iβm quite excited to get back on the tidal stretch, still craving a 20lber π got an hours work at 9, done at 10 and will heading straight to the river. Got tigers, corn and krill soaked boilies on the ready. High tide at 11am so plan on fishing high tide down to low and catch them on their way down. Thatβs the plan anyway ππ anyone else out?
-
Iβll never forget the time when I slipped with my barrow only for it roll down the bank breaking 2 rod tips. On that trip my mate lent me a spod rod to fish with it, 5lb test curve or something like that. Only went and caught my 29lb 2oz pb on it ππ

How much rest do you give the carp before fishing for them again? Most of my waters started spawning last week and over the weekend. I usually give them a week to recover, but spoke to a few people and now they are recommending 2 weeks minimum rest after spawning. Iβve been walking my local lake everyday for the last week and theyβve got from crashing, chasing each other around the margins to nowhere to be seen, I take it they are either resting or getting their heads down looking for food? What is the correct amount of time to give them to rest before fishing again? I wish the fisheries would shut during this period and open again when they are done and itβs good to fish again because else it just makes it all confusing π As you can probably tell Iβm keen to get back on the bank π
-
I fit everything for a day session in my carp cradle and rucksack and sometimes a chair if itβs damp. My dad on the other hand takes a bed chair, brolly system, cooker, barrow etc on a day session, like you, Iβve already got a rod out by the time he unloads and gets to the bank π

If youβre willing to travel into Devon (holsworthy) you could try anglers paradise. You need to book in advance π
