Do you use a kicker on the pin

Hook pattern depends on rig to be fair, for example

D Rigs, Stiff Hinge etc.. i would use an out turned eye (personal preference is a Arma Point SR)
Combi Rigs, Blow back style .. I would use a wide gape (personal preference is Arma Point SSBP)

My preferred go to pattern is Fox SSBP, but I find they work best with a kicker. I wanted to try a simplify things and all the talk of the krank seemed worth a go, also I used to really like Carp R us off set nailers, I just cant cant them at my local these days. so I got pack of kranks.

I wouldn't be put off using kranks if they've been working for you, I think my problems were probably due to needing a few tweaks with the hair but as I didn't want to waste time tweaking or risk losing one next I went back to what Im confident in.

I agree hutch, the twisting was most likely during the fight though I don't think the point ever buried down more like due to the offset point it went through like a safety pin, then as it flipped over side to side during the scrap pierced again etc to create the nipple effect.

Line Aligner using fake maggot to disguise the hook

To camouflage the hook in this pic I have used a fake maggot and created a line aligner with that. Again, the hook was tied on with a knotless knot and then the fake maggot threaded on with a needle

I'm not certain but I think most of the hooks in my bag , in fact on the market , are Micro barbed mate .
Whether Barbed or Microbarbed I use side cutters to snap the hook prior to hook removal ( as recommended by several members here ) ....that way the pointy end comes out the way in went in

Just to be on the safe side

In fact I was discussing that very subject with the bailiff on my water only the other day and it is generally agreed that it's a good safe common practice .

A Line Aligner ? - hmm , something else for me to think about , thanks Nick .

What is your opinion on Micro Barbs please NM ? .

Thanks for the recommendation Neal ; I'm guessing  it was easier to put a blanket ban on using any Curve Shanks at Graviers rather than single out specific manufacturers patterns .

    Hi NM

That's unusual Honey doesn't bark when there's a knock at the front door .
The times I've pressed someones' doorbell , I haven't heard it ring , so then I'll knock on their door just to make sure , and a dog barks .

    A barking dog , better than a doorbell any day ! .

Yep looking at his Vids did give me a slight push towards the venue and what surprised me when i first arrived water level wise !

It's amazing if you consider just how many litres of water it's down by, I don't think i'll return until the water does to be honest unless he's caught before spring lol

If you follow my right rod to the tip directly above that on the far bank was 2 guys and one was teaching the other some casting techniques, I bet he's gonna wonder why the distance will be halved when he hasn't got the wind giving him a hand

I wonder how much Spurs will dominate the first half , but just not put the ball in the net .
Then West Ham come out in the second half and win the match .

    That's " the Spurs way " ! .

There's a few good ones on there mate. Braided mainline, flouro leader, large wide gape hook tied polamar style then a clip on lead. Cast out then giggle the worm/shad with the rod while slowly reeling in. Not that I've done it before, but I have been doing some research on it

Like John and NM, I use a quick link. Great for a quick change of the rig
If, however, you want to tie it to the swivel then a palomar to the hook link is not the best way (In my opinion). Tie the swivel to the main line with a palomar, then you tie a loop in the rig with a figure of eight knot.

To attach the rig you put the whole loop through the rig and then pull the rest of the rig through the loop. This is the strongest way of attaching both mainline and rig to a swivel using simple knots (All in my opinion, of course )

P.S. To eliminate tangles, an anti tangle sleeve to your rig (Where it connects to your swivel ) and a PVA nugget or small PVA stick to the hook.

Personally, I never cast out a bare hook. The majority of the time I use PVA nuggets, but do also make a stick mix and use a stick occasionally.

Im another one that uses quick links, I use the fox kwik change ones but instead of using a full anti tangle sleeve I trim enough off to cover the attachment section and a bit more but leave the end like the eye of a swivel so you get full movement for the rig from the attaching loop.
