  1. never had a pick up either though lol
  2. as much as the man is hated by people, i would go on you tube to view jim shelleys blogs and you will see how to tie it on there. been tying it his way for the past 3 years and ive never lost a fish on it
  3. id be confident using it on any kind of bottom. not that i do. but if i get on showing fish then that is the first rig i will put out. 0.5-1oz leads, little disturbance and i know im fishing no matter what the bottom.
  4. ive got a parsons jack russell and 10 goldfish. my dog is sadly not a carp dog as she cant sit still for more than 5 minutes
  5. these are the ones ive started using and am well happy with them. and as you say you can set it up so its safe with leadcore.
  6. there's only one maggot rig and thats the mag-aliner, simples
  7. never had a problem with the korda lead clips myself. what i do is when i buy the lead clips and tail rubbers i will push a tail rubber onto every clip all the way down. that way it stretches the tail rubber therefore enabling the lead to eject that much easier .
  8. if you want to match your braid to a silt bottom then what i do is take a piece of rig putty and pull the material through it a few times quite fast. the friction warms the rig putty which leaves a very thin layer on the braid the length of the rig. you then have coloured braid and it will sit very nicely on the deck
  9. I don't agree. Most of my fishing is with size 4s, regardless of bait. same as. I want a big bit of metal to nail'em, regardless the size of hookbait. Size 4's & 5's my favourites. Infact done 1 season using size 2's. They didnt get away;-)
  10. What manor lake do you mean? The essex manor or linear manor?
  11. 40lbers are not the be all and end all in carp fishing mate. as long as your enjoying your fishing thats what counts, be it for singles or 40s and 50s. enjoyment is what its all about
  12. depends what your after. if you want to catch a 40 then you got to fish a water with 40s in it, simple as . you say youve got a million to 1 chance, to me thats better than having no chance if you so desperately want a 40 and all the while you got a bait in the water you will always have that chance .if your daunted by the size of coate and the fact that takes maybe few and far between then obviously the other lake is for you. only you can answer your own question not us on here
  13. . that fried my head too. just find the fish and chuck a simple knotless knot rig at them. simples and as for you not wanting to overload your rods with a pva bag and lead your going to have a loaded method feeder, pva mesh bag, bait wrapped in paste. the second part sounds like it would be heavier than a pva bag and lead
  14. so if bryan jarrett told you to jump under a bus would you do that as well
  15. id like to know what the opening post means by heavy weed if i can cast out a 12inch rig and then let it settle on top of the weed then im fishing nothing more than a bit of candy floss .
  16. there was 1 out this week
  17. 1x50 at the right time, 4-6x40s and fair few 30s, its a bit of circus though mate, enjoy
  18. have the beads apart mate, that way when the fish picks up your bait it cannot use the weight of the lead to throw the hook.slack line is a must.
  19. ive spoke to 1 of the gardener consultants on my lake regarding this line again and he said that this new line has the same make up(co-polymer waffle thingy majig) as the gt80 i think but at less money.he says it has excellent abrasion qualities,as nick has already tested it has a higher breaking strain than quoted,it casts well, the more it is used the heavier the line becomes,so therefore sinking faster(so ideal if you like your line slack and on the deck),so looks like i'll be having me self some
  20. is this the line that gardener have just released?on my current syndicate there are a few gardener consultants, chatting to one of them he couldnt rate there new line highly enough.and all have said how good this line is,but they are going to say that aren't they.its good to hear an independant review.what sort of price is it nick out of curiosity?
  21. i use big hooks with small baits on my choddys.size 5 fox arma point sr or jrc mbt4 in size 4,i then use pop ups no bigger than 14mm.it certainly works for me,i then use 25lb mouth trap for the hooklink
  22. the humble chod rig,simples
  23. korda mouth trap
  24. fox arma point range or atomic range, though i have just started to use the jags hook sharpening range and boy you can get them mega sharp.
