  1. there is no need to be sorry nick, you have your opinons on leadcore and i respect them as do many others and i have read all the threads on leadcore and they have taught me its not to be messed with, the one thing that i make sure of 100% of the time when using leadcore with the chod is that the rig will come off with the minimal amount of pressure leaving the fish in the event of a crack of or line parting just the rig in its mouth.i have now changed to tubing when fishing simple lead clip/in line set ups thanks to what i have read/seen on here, which is something as i was a staunch leadcore user.
  2. i bumped into jim shelley on my syndicate lake at the end of the season and asked him to show me how he ties his chods,it was as follows.6-8ft of leadcore(i use 6ft),bottom bead 1ft from the lead/top bead 6"-1ft from the top of leadcore, smallest ring swivels you can get your hands on,4mm rig ring on the D rig,25lb korda mouth trap, hook length between 2.5 and 3 inches, hooks esp stiff riggers mk2,atomic chodda.ive now been tying it this way since and my catch rate has gone up fourfold,i use the atomic chodda's in size 6(straight point) and jrc mbt4 in size 4(beaked point).not saying this is the be all and end all but that did come from the chod father himself.good luck with which ever way you choose
  3. Best advice, DON'T buy any at all. There are loads of leadcore threads with the fors and against, but why use a product that adds extra risks into your fishing? In fact a product which lets you down every time you hook a fish can i just ask in what way does leadcore let you down "everytime"?ive used it for years and ive never had a problem with the stuff.thanks to this forum i have now seen the damage it can cause to fish, but in my 15yrs of fishing for carp i have never come across anything like that nor many of the anglers i have fished with,if i had then maybe i would stop using it myself.
  4. dont recall how much they cost mate, sorry.have used esp but i personally found it a pain to splice.the solar version splices easy.the solar one i use is not the weed version by the way,i wouldnt touch that
  5. ive used untold different leadcore, but have now settled on 2.they are the solar version and the gardener one.i personally cant fault either
  6. there all free mate, unless you get caught that is
  7. since when has the palm of your hand been the same as a carps mouth?which when it takes your bait in may also suck in stones, leafs, twigs pellets etc.if your nailing them then i wouldnt worry mate.a mate i fished with had a rig that never caught your hand whenever you pulled it across it and he used to nail carp on it.if your looking to change the hook then maybe change to the atomic chodda hook which has a straight point, but other than that if it aint broke dont fix it
  8. why dont you try phoning "Quality baits",they do a base mix called the patshull park mix so other than bait im thinking they could advise you in the other things you need to know as well.good luck
  9. all the above mentioned lakes are as good as any,but for the price of your weeks holiday you could possibly join a club/syndicate water somewhere.you may want to broaden your search.happy hunting
  10. ive just switched over to the atomic chodda hook in a size 6,ive only used them the 1 night but they tie up good,i use them with 25lb mouthtrap and i can get that through the eye 3 times.had 2 fish on them and they were nailed big time.they might be worth a look
  11. he fished the island swims mate,he got wiped out a few times by fish trailing line as well.is that a problem on there do you know?
  12. when did you pull off,my mate done sunday night and monday and had 6 takes, banking 4
  13. to me it depends what lake your on.for instance if this is the lake your to fish all season then i would use rigs that i was 100% confident in.but if its a lake say just for the spring and its a bit of a runs water then what i do is try all different rigs.last season on my spring water i tried chods for the first time and its given me the confidence to use it on my syndicate lake now
  14. would that be premier baits quad,if so my dog loves the things.when i go out to my freezer she is right on my heels.we live and learn hope your dogs ok soon
  15. take them with you.just put them in an air tight bag, suck all the air out and do the bag up.this suffocates them, stops them moving/sweating.they can be like this for 2 sometimes 3 days.once at the lake put them in a bucket and watch them come back to life
  16. take maggots fish love em
  17. well there's reading angling association they have a number of venues,as does farnham angling association or take a look at california country park run by wokingham borough council.if you pop into yateley angling then the people in there could probably tell you a bit about the above or they all have web sites
  18. what size fish are you after
  19. nice fish well done,my mates been told by bidders(sandhurst head bailiff) that the 46lb common is aload of tosh, sorry to disappoint
  20. you saw it on the radio your good, really good
  21. i heard a rumour that sandhurst done a 46lb common at the weekend, anyone else hear about it.a mate actually told me he heard it on keith arthur's fishermans blues radio show as well
  22. take a look at avid carp range,im pretty sure they have designed the exact thing your after,a bead for chod fishing with a fluro leader/mainline
  23. personally i would fish for a bite this time of year,if you get action then think about putting a bit of bait in.if you fail to find the fish on your arrival, then i would head for the pipe swim, second pipes or the car park swims they have a good track record at this time of year

    Crimps

i have used the wychwood crimps and when i used them with some of the coated braids they have slipped so i thought i should let you know, and i pulled the rigs before casting them out,and they seemed perfectly fine.but i have had no trouble with mono
  25. no waiting list as far as i know, dont fish there myself but a mate of mine goes there now and again(he fishes thorney),his approach at this time of year is to bang single hookbaits out into the middle of the pond, this has caught him a few fish, though if he sees a few fish role he would then set up on them
