I use ESP size 5 Stiff rigger hooks and 25lb Korda Mouthtrap and i can get it through the eye 3 times. Make sure you pull the line tight into they eye when tying the knot etc

What knot are you using to tie the loop to the swivel?

the lighter the lead the less it will plunge into the silt!!

Are you fishing your lead straight onto your mainline? If so the lead is probably bouncing around directly in his face moving the hook more than a longer rig would. Maybe tie the lead on with some light mono (so it can break if the fish gets snagged) with about a foot or so up to a swivel and then have your rig above this so that when playing the fish the lead will be hanging below the fish or can break off all together!

Gonna go and do a couple of days fishing in a couple of weeks time at Walthamstow. Still not sure which lake to fish yet. Might fish number 1 for the 1st day while keeping an eye behind me on lakes 2+3 to fish the next day. Does anybody know what time the gate opens and when you can start fishing etc? Or a contact for the waters would be helpfull. Cheers in Advance guys

Esp anchor rig tube is my favourite. I usually thread 2 foot on (easy with the esp stuff) and then stretch it once its one the line, making it thinner and more supple and it stetches a long way, up to 3 foot. This does damage the line though so once i have stretched it i moisten the line and slide the tubing up a good 6 foot and cut of any damaged line! Hope this helps mate.

Hi I've always enjoy a yearly trip down to Walthamstow, does anybody know how lakes 1 + 2-3 fishing?

Fishing a lake which is quite silty and weedy in places, what in your opinion are the best hooks for a chod rig or a hinged stiff rig? Some large carp in the lake so would use maybe a size 6 hook with a 15mm bait? I use the Scopex Squid and make my own pop ups using the paste, what do you guys use for pop ups. Cheers fellas
