  1. I got some bison waders a couple of years ago, they get a little sweaty if you are working hard weeding or anything, but I don't tend to wear them for long periods so they do the job fine, I went up a shoe size seems to be the rule I think,
  2. That's probably an accessory I would be interested in too I think πŸ‘
  3. I had a look at that one too, it's kind of when I thought I could probably make one, I want at least 30m I think, which is Β£171 I think I can make it for a lot less The pipe I can get for Β£57, then it's just expanding foam and bits , my baiting spoon may get modded with some stabilisers but i don't need a lot else really
  4. Thanks I had seen his original vid but just watched this one with upgrade, similar to my thinking I guess so that's encouraging, and a couple of nice tips too that I hadn't thought of, also good to know I can use 20mm with duct tape, but I want to try and make it without first 😁
  5. Well I've used it a few times but as predicted it wasn't long enough for everything I want 😁 Now I thought about buying a long one, but I quite fancy having a go at making one,but don't always like the price of them, I'm currently researching pipe and how to fix them together, most of the DIY type ones I've seen use a male and female thread I don't want to do that, seems long winded, I've found some 25mm PVC PIPE online that I should be able to use, but I want to use a slightly smaller pipe for a spigot joint with a push clip and hole set up ala bushwhacker, I've found 2 pipes one is slightly thicker walled so it leaves a - 0.2mm gap over the inch pipe which I would use for the spigot, and may require sanding to make it right, or a thinner walled one which would leave 1.2mm gap which is probably fine for the half I join with gluey stuff as that would fill the void but will it be too loose and make the pole sag? Does anyone happen to have a bushwhacker and some calipers I would be interested to know measurements for the joints and what tolerance they are thanks if you can help ?? I'm looking to start off with 36m worth of 1.5m sections if I can and maybe I could also use the end of this pole and any sections that I can to make it telescopic with the extensions, I might also try and make a massive spoon too for those times you just want to fill it in quickly 😁 A faff yes, a small project yes, but I quite fancy a little winter project and don't fancy spending hundreds on a baiting pole 😳 I can do stuff at work like drilling and bits so with care I should be able to get that all nice so they are all interchangeable
  6. If his misses finds all the bits he wants to buy, it may be useful for the slippery slope he could find himself on 😁
  7. I think it is probably better to use himalayan rock salt, mainly because of the extra minerals it contains over normal salt, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_salt
  8. It says it has this in on the bag so I had a look, probably fine it's meant to be safe to use https://foodadditives.net/anticaking-agent/sodium-ferrocyanide/
  9. Well that couldn't have worked out much better, problem solved and a free cuppa well done welder πŸ‘
  10. If you can't catch em in your head then it is time to hang up the rods I think πŸ˜‚
  11. Not been fishing this weekend but what did I learn? I wanted to go fishing, I thought about fishing, I watched fishing videos and I got bored and bought some bits of tackle for fishing πŸ˜‚
  12. 210d polyester I think? Sonik axs also HD Polyester
  13. What about making one or bodging one up with yours 😁 Could you not get a heavy duty tarp cut it to size and stick it to your one with spray glue or something
  14. Hi guys just thought you may have some items you can't live without now, and want to share your favourite items of tackle or whatever I've used ESP butt grips now for a few years had a large set for Cork rods and now just got some medium for my shrink handled rods and they fit nice and snug,I know they will stop my rods getting pulled in as they will grip them firmly, they have a metal screw which to me is vital as the plastic threads just get ruined after a while, and they are simple, look nice and, do what they are meant too, the best bit is the price Β£11.99 for 3 on ebay, and they last a long time, simple, no frills and reliable and at a decent price
  15. I had an otter give me a savage liner on St Ives, swam through with no fear then just went underwater never to be seen again once it clocked me, I found lots of evidence on there though a dead pike, loads of zebra mussels all over the bank, I seemed to think there didn't seem as many birds on the lake I am fishing now earlier this year, but last time I thought there were more so I will keep an eye on them this winter see if they dwindle again, that could be the duck eating catfish I've heard about though 😬
  16. I think I have most of that already apart from a big stock pot cheers πŸ‘
  17. The pike on Earith are idiots these days, seems like there is loads of them but yet still loads of rudd so they aren't even good pike 😁 Maybe try using crushed pellet and boilies and lots of liquid and maybe some salt, things that will sink into the silt and make them want to dig it out πŸ‘
  18. What other species are in there? I've turned some rancid old smelly silt spots Into spots I can get a bite from this year, maybe now you can bait regularly it will help, What are you putting on the spot?
  19. Nope same now, i tried one of the manky monster particles ones disgusting but the ones I make myself are quite moreish 😁
  20. Molasses is a blooming horrible though makes everything stink and go sticky, but it does seem to work, I use it with pigeon conditioner mainly
  21. I love a freshly cooked tiger other than the dryness of mouth you get after a couple 😁
  22. Don't like monster particles myself had a bad batch of tigers and they wouldn't refund them, as yonny said get yourself a burco boiler, now I just do mine as and when I need them, fresh is best, and it just adds to the excitement of going fishing, Tigers soak for 24 hours and then in a burco I tend to boil them for an hour or so as it heats and cools more, Otherwise if using pigeon conditioner soak for 24hrs and Boil for 30 I think I need a more industrial sized burco though as mine isn't big enough for a massive hit of particles, it's good for tigers and odd bits but needs more girth for a big job of hemp and that
  23. I think pre baiting is always a good thing to do when you can, whenever I've done well its usually due to that, it certainly helps tips things in your favour so it's a good thing you can now do it again πŸ‘, have you thought about raking your own spots, it's something I've done a few times now and caught from rake, pre bait, feel great that's the mantra to live by 😁
  24. They were showing about 20-30yds away over the other side of the pads, saw some right old dolphin leaps, normally that is all you need to see and on a good day they come to visit but I guess they were happy out of range in the safe zone today, not sure about maggots there are so many rudd in there I think it may prove tricky, although I think zigs are a good idea and something I need t on work on a bit
  25. Hi guys I thought I might start a thread for the blankers, I always think it's important to learn from your failures so here goes, Fish were still active so I assumed they might still like some bait 😁I didn't give them loads but in hindsight too much 😱either that or they weren't visiting my spots on the other side of the pads (should've continued pre baiting but life got in the way) Chicken Pad Thai is a nice easy meal to cook Should've prepared better no cutlery, Casting the new rods at the end I whipped the rig off and learnt about fast hands when casting, I tried chucking some around 90 odd yards to see how it went and thinking fast hands and focusing on that seemed to help, it got me hitting the clip consistently anyway, Was it a waste of time nah I flipping loved it being out again 😁
