  1. I quite like the idea of using a hair tbh just think you can make the hair a bit longer than a std Ronnie rig, I also think a d rig could work and have dabbled with the d rig aligners in the past, but they can be a bit faffy so that's another to thing to try thanks Tbh though my mind is filled with ways to use the boat at the minute and trying to think of a better edge than most will use , if I am going too the darkside I may as well do it properly 😬
  2. I was actually thinking of going up to the 18lb next time I respool, just because it is quite snaggy and weedy where I fish and I just think it may stretch just a little less than 15lb which can only help, but the 15lb actually hasn't really let me down ever, Trouble is it doesn't need respooling that often 😂
  3. Funny i woke up this morning thinking the world is going a bit too Pink Floyd
  4. Loved the smashing pumpkins was lucky enough to see them once brilliant
  5. Hydrotuff is superb line, I've chucked it up trees and stuck it in reeds and weed and it always comes back, you will probably snap your rod before you break it 😂 Sinks well, not too stretchy, I thought about stepping up to 18lb just incase my car gets stuck in the mud but then the 15lb would probably handle that 😉
  6. I probably wouldn't drill the hopper tbh just incase it split the plastic when in use or cracked it might make you lose it , could you tie it to the handle or something?
  7. I quite like the look of that would solve my bait screw crisis Nice one 👍
  8. Thanks for all the recommendations guys, everytime I look at this thread my brain gets a little more mushy and confused,😂 I like the idea of making the satay mix but then part of me thinks it will just go off if I make it in bulk , might become a faff to make all the time, or I would end up taking too many various bottles with me, I guess the thing I need to do is keep it simple and also on budget because I want to be using more liquids than anyone else 😲 otherwise I may as well just buy hydros 😂 I think I will just have to have a look in the world food section and see what I can find 👍 Some great advice and things to try though thanks 👍
  9. You should try a bailicks now that's a winter winner, baileys and horlicks it's literally "the bailicks"
  10. Good idea that, I once used some mole muck and made a groundbait mix with it using a fish hydro , I bet the worm castings would be a good thing to add to groundbait also 👍 I guess it might be worth just adding the yeast as a powder and coating the bait with it, I just seemed to remember BAF do a yeasty liquid that you have to keep taking the lid off or it will explode 😂
  11. Does yeast not make them active and explode though ?
  12. That's the video I had just found 😂 These are the booms I use, I don't think I can make them this neat tbh, if you ever fish solid Pva bags their tidy stem kits are really good too https://www.geminicarptackle.com/tidy-booms---ronnie-with-spinner-swivels-3-1568-p.asp
  13. I'm not a fan of rum tbh bit too piratey 😂 This is a recipe for a basic satay sauce, I would probably leave out the lime and honey, add a few bits and tweaks and it could be a winner, probably best to thin it a lot more too with a sauce, any ideas how I could make it a little more preserved as I worry it could go off pretty quick with some of those ingredients? My possible ingredients Peanut butter (crunchy) Fish sauce Coconut milk Marmite Maybe a soy oyster or Maggi sauce for an extra splash of flavour Maybe some curry spices too, could make it yellowish with some turmeric 😂 In my head it's a bit of a winner 🤞
  14. If you do end up struggling with knots and rigs, gemini tackle do make some nice booms, I know you probably don't want to use a Ronnie rig or similar, but with the gemini booms they are a doddle to use, and should make it easier to keep fishing
  15. Wow thanks guys some great ideas there, I saw how you thinned the marmite earlier on a previous thread good advice thanks, and it goes well with peanut butter I think I will have to read this one when I've got time to digest it but thanks 👍 I hadn't even thought to use peanut butter and I've made some lovely dinners with it tbh, I've used it to make satay sauces and in curries and all sorts, I think that could be a great additive tbh would go nicely with coconut milk, or maybe creamed coconut if using a fish sauce or similar, in the mix, I was thinking about trying a nut bait alongside the one I've been using, I might have to make a nut liquid to enhance it further, I love peanut butter it's one of my favourite things, that's probably why I hadn't considered feeding it to the fish 😂 Thanks will check those out, Thanks guys certainly given me some options to think about 😂
  16. Hi guys, I've decided I am fed up paying silly money for liquids and have been looking at alternatives, but I do love a liquid liver, fish hydro being among the favs I've seen things like the squid brand fish sauce and oyster sauce etc and chilli sauces, garlic sauces, loads of oils there are a lot of options, but which ones to go for??? I've used Molasses and don't like the stickyness of it although I can see the benefit of using it 😊I still have a 5l Container that doesn't seem to go down but mixed with a thinner liquid might be great ingredient I want to make a 1 off concoction that's garlicky, fishy and maybe marmite yeasty, it's mainly to be used to soak pellets and boilies but being Pva friendly may also be useful, As usual I may be setting myself up for massively over thinking it but here goes 😂
  17. If you are lucky or being ultra disciplined that day 😂
  18. Looks exactly the same as the NGT one tbh, I used one of those for a few years and it was perfectly OK, would still use it now if I hadn't splashed out on a wychwood one in the sale last year
  19. Half the fun is going to the tackle shop to get those new essential (non essential) items anyway, although be careful it's easy to spend too much on stuff you don't really need, I'm pretty good at that and have an overflow tackle box to prove it 😂
  20. I just looked on the website it looks like the same spool as the 6000, but bigger but with a 30mm trip I can vouch for the 8k though brilliant reels with a 12ft Rod
  21. Everytime I toy with the idea of making my own bait I look at this basemix lol, I've not used it though as I always conclude I haven't got time after researching everything but BAF products are usually good quality, I've used the liquids quite a bit their liquid liver is a bit good and the fish hydro and a yeasty one too, I would use those with confidence. If I was going to use it though I may start off just using it as it is, but maybe just use your own flavour liquid combo as suggested by JB, then you could just tweak if you needed too after, but if you start off adding bits you may just be making it cost more without needing too, Might be worth joining the homemade bait buffs on FB though, they should be able to put you in the right direction
  22. It can be a good distraction from reality 😂 I'm not sure the palm test is totally reliable but I have more confidence In a rig that's effective on a palm test, every little helps as they say 👍
  23. It may have frozen due to it being winter and that may have preserved it, but rats and stuff will take easy meals so it's probably a different one I would say
  24. Yeah it's definately different without a swivel because the bait won't roll so it tends to act more you would want it to act and blowback and then I think the rig turns more naturally I always use kickers because I am convinced they help turn the hook, and I've often talked myself out of using hook swivels for that reason but I can't decide if it spinning makes it harder or easier for the fish to eject, but I don't think they are as effective on palm tests generally,
  25. I probably shouldn't but I'm blessed with one of those brains that massively overthinks tiny things like this, I noticed it when I did a palm test once where the bait rolled because of the swivel it seemed to stop the hook turning, then the thoughts just move on from there until I ask a possibly stupid question or find an answer 🤔😭😂
