Went to my guesting lake earlier. Saw 3 eastern euros going into my spot. Long story short I found the line they had put out with multiple hooks tied to a bottle under the reeds. The bottle is now full of my urine with the 4 massive hooks positioned perfectly to do some damage when they reach in to pick it up.

I used to use smaller hooks and lose quite a few fish. I was fishing with a mate and he just said to me that even a small carp has a big mouth and to up the size. Started landing a lot more fish and never looked back.

I agree about the 1st bit but doesn't a zig on a 6 stand out like a sore thumb?

Have to be comfy when I'm dropping the kids at the pool mate. 😅

Pillow loads of times. Bait on a few occasions. Worst one was in went to my local about 5 am on a Sunday morning to find it empty , happy days. Just setting up and I needed to go a loo so packed the stuff back in the car and made the 15 minute journey back home. Got back , set everything up and realised I'd forgotten all my bait. Everything back in the car etc. Got back set everything up again , just cast out the 1st rod and the bailiff turns up and tells me the lake is shut for a club match. Went back home and got drunk.

Off to France in about 4 and a half hours.

I'm off to France at the weekend and will be using a boat. Mainly because the distance is probably just outside my comfort zone for casting but also because it will make my life easier. At the end of the day I've spent a lot of money on this trip so want to give my self the best chance to catch a whopper.

Saturday is looking perfect for it. 15 degrees cooler , a southwesterly with a bit of rain and pressure down to 1005.

Go for it mate. I went last night. Got down there about 9pm. Couple of the regulars were just leaving looking burnt and they blanked. I stayed till 12,30 am and had 2 . In this weather the 1st couple of hours of darkness always produces for me. Ain't like I can sleep in this weather anyway so would of just been indoors all hot and bothered.

Been trying not to get it anywhere near my hands though as I'm sure it will be repellent to fish.

Been using the jungle formula and I haven't had a single bite since ive been using it. Just been having a sort out in the shed for my France trip next month. So far I've counted 27 tubs of pop ups and wafters , 57 leads, 17 different hooklinks.

I generally fish on the bottom if im float fishing for carp, perch and other species ill change the depth around until i find whats working.

Ive caught carp and perch on slugs before mate. Just hooked on with a size 4 barbed hook. Never had a problem with them coming off. Mainly float fished though.

Afternoon chaps. Anybody ever used live snails as bait?. Ive used slugs but wondered if that extra crunch with the shell might be a winner. Also what do you reckon would be the best way to hook them?. Cheers.

Cheers mate, had my joggers tucked into my socks as soon as i got there but didnt make a difference.

I need something. I have over 30 bites on my ankles alone.

What do people use to repell the mozzies. Ive heard avon skin soft or whatever its called is good.
