Hello mate . At last a new thread Plastic baits ? Tbh i've only ever used 'em to tip off a boilie as a visual thing but i have no doubt that they work and indeed take on all sorts of flavours . Its something i will be considering this year should i need to go down the particle route ie fake corn or maize . I use fake worms and bloodworm sometimes if i am fishing a bait directly to a hook just like i would use a small section of elastic band to stop a worm wriggling off ...a kind of bait stop if you like ... The only worry i have is that in the event of a break off , the fake bait is fishing forever and wont break down or rot like a foodbait would. My conscience would be eased because i never ever use leaders tubing or leadcore .... That is another thread though. Glugged plastic baits ? Yeah why not !

I think your idea of the hook pointing upwards out of the water will definetely work. I think this is what I'm aiming for. But I don't know whether they will go for a foam disguise as a pellet. I will try anyway. If I know which side of the pellet face down the water will much easier. and if I put a very small lead on one side, I'm not sure whether it still afloat. From my rig, the size of hook i'm using, if I attach onto the pellet. the whole thing will float. that have been tested. Anyway I will do some test trial to made the pellet float the way I wanted it to be. thanks mate. The rubber bit on my hook shank is to cover the braided lines which coils around it . This rig is one of few which teach on how to rig pellet for carp in you tube. I would ditch the rubber myself. It seems to serve little purpose. Less is more! As for the foam, I you look about online, if you can get delivery, you should be able to buy imitation floating rubber pellets identical to what you use. I think enterprise do loaded pellets with a small hole in which to place a small shot . This makes the hook sit above the pellet in the way that grangemilky has already described . The rubber dog mixers made by enterprise do a terrific job and are exactly the same .

Evening blank Ok , firstly mate there are literally hundreds of em on ebay .admittedly a lot of em are probably for match fishing so they may not be strong enough for what you want . If your after a handle by a "name" brand ie nash jrc etc then you are looking at spending a nifty + . But if you take a chance on one of the lower end brands then you may be in luck. NGT do a 2,3and 4 metre handles ( telescopic and take apart ) . Their stuff is usually pretty naff to be fair but my spare handle, that i used for 5 years before i bought my fox warrior net , is NGT and its ok and still going strong. Also linaeffe do a 2 peice handle as well . Cant vouch for their landing nets & handles but i have 2 feeder rods of theirs and they are really good quality and i would recommend THEM . Not yet mate but i may be moving to within 5 miles of the place so just thought i'd ask . I know it holds a lot of nice fish of all sizes but the problem i would have its days only . Got more chance of being struck by lightening than getting a membershp ticket

Lots of people use a small pva stick purely and simply to avoid tangles. Doesnt have to be big , an inch long maybe , and next to know food value ie groundbait or pellet powder/boilie crumb , as i say purely to avoid tangles . Then you can still bait up using the method you wish ...

Yeah it does work ok mate , i also found that a long hair with a double large hookbait works well in keeping the hook/hair/bait out in front of the lead on entry to the water . I've never had issues with mono hairs but , as i mentioned earlier , hardly ever use 'em except maybe with fluorocarbon hooklinks . What do you mean martin , when you say your water doesnt lend itself to pva bags ? Just curious ...

Cant say i've ever had any problems with knotless knotting mono though i dont use it very often to be fair . The mono specialist hooklink that i have is the sufix one (cant remember its name) but it is very stiff , almost like a fluoro carbon , which causes hair problems so (because i have fluorocarbon mainline at the mo) i saved some leftover mono from previous mainlines i have used . Sensor , the blue ultima mono ( again cant remember) both make for decent hooklink materials as does gardner pro-carp in 10 and 12lb which is going on my spools in the spring . Surely a small pva stick or mesh bag keeps the tangles away every time ? I've only ever had braid tangles on the retrieve of that i'm convinced .

Yeah mate , its simple , the carp dont see it very often and it works . Just use your mainline . Also great if your on a strict budget .

And gardner , fox and solar sell lead clips that can be converted to running set ups (and in reverse) in about 0.5 seconds so you can use the same hooklink . Martin , the gardner quick lock swivel that i posted earlier will fit the gardner running lead clip system , your fox swivel should fit the fox version that both dal and i use and so on and so forth. As long as you have a loop at the end of your hooklink then any large anti tangle sleeve should fit over the loop/swivel join with the aid of a baiting needle. Theres a lot to be said for sticking to the same brand of terminal tackle . They all fit . But you start mixing 'em up .... Nigels idea is triffic and simple as . I use to attach my drennan method rigs the same way.

Buy some Fox lead clips. They have a pin that you use to make it semi fixed, rather than relying on the swivel to 'click' like Korda. The Fox clips are much better than the Korda and allow the quick change. The Korda clips don't touch the Fox ones IMHO. They're more interested in dumping tons of lead on the lake bed instead Martin , its what i suggested further up the thread mate . Solar and gardner make them as well & make it a doddle . As for the quick clips , are you using one of these ? If not you should be mate . Ordinary swivel one end , kwik klip on the other. Those korda kwik klips are only any good for attaching a lead to a run ring .

Besides , these screws actually screw a few millimetres into the bait so any air should displaced by the actual screw . Its not like you peirce the bait all the way through with a baiting needle and then pull it after after attaching it to the hair . These bait screw imo are so good that i actually considered sticking em in the tackle review threads .

That's what I do. And using the Fox lead clips it takes seconds to change from running rig to semi fixed. Dal , just changed it for you mate
