  1. How many food source flavour matching pop ups REALLY match the bottom baits though ? Of the 3 "food source" boilies that i have used since i have been targetting Carp specifically , i have used matching pop ups , wafters , hardened hookbaits both round and dumbell , glugged and unglugged and although they may give off the same signals as the standard boilies ( and we take that for granted because the bait firms tell us that ) but NONE of em LOOK the same . Do they ? And im talking Premier CC Moore and Essential here too . Not that its got anything to do with Withy pool rigs
  2. Depends , to me , on the make up of the lakebed. The lake i fished for ages has gravel , silt , and a tiny bit of proper weed but EVERYWHERE has a layer of Filamous Algae over it of 1-5/2 inches . I know it doesnt sound a lot but you cant buy a bite with a true bottom bait fir love nor money . You have to use a Wafter or Pop up every time .
  3. Theres a barbless only rule on my lake but i just completely ignore it .
  4. If its just a bit "messy" ie choddy on the bottom then all the more reason to consider the Chod rig If it was weedy then yes there would be plenty of other options but otherwise , to me anyway , its a no brainer . As for hinged hooklengths Dal's is a good suggestion though i use the Ultima hydrolink which is similar but needs steaming ..and its a lot cheaper
  5. Any reason why your not just considering a standard chod rig ?
  6. Right here goes You can slip a Korda sinker on the line . The top bead goes over it . Followed by your rig etc . Then a second sinker and bead . Followed by your lead and however you fix it . Of course there are now "naked chod kit"s available nowadays but above is how i've been doing it for years. Hope it helped
  7. I like that Phil . Doesnt anybody use a simple old fashioned D Rig these days ? I wouldn't think twice about using it over a choddy lakebed paticuarly in the margins but everybody seems adamant that they would only use fluorocarbons on hard clear bottoms ????

  14. It is with great sadness that I have to announce the sacking of Sir Ian Holloway by the webbed-fingered ones from sarf london . I'd personally like to add a personal tribute for such a sterling effort and contribution in getting the club to the brink of League one . A contribution which will never be forgotten . Ian a Holloway . A true West Ham legend
