Yes , thank you but the swivels ? what’s all that about ? Is the idea that the bait is flossed to the swivel or does the swivel get poked inside the hook bait ? Yes im that thick . And what do the people that do use them hope to achieve ? Do they think it gives the bait more movement or something ? -

Question for you all . Multi-rig . why do you , and more importantly how would anybody want to , attach their bait with/on a micro swivel ? -

What rod for floater fishing?
newmarket replied to InteraX's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
….and I in turn turn to an old Ron Thompson Avon/Barbel type rod in , I think , a 1.75 tc in conjunction with Drennan double strength line , 8lb max if memory serves . -
One washer now mate , or should I say one on my additional reel now , always had one on the original two and they’ve always been fine . The problematic one isn’t too bad at all now , perfectly acceptable to me now anyway and it’s not twisted or anything . You know Elmo , I think it’s how I was holding the rod when I was winding it on … I tend to hold the butt section up in the air like I was playing a fish as it’s easier on my arthritis but when I wound the line on a 3rd time , keeping the rod low , matchman style , it lay a lot lot better . How much did you get for your reels ? Was it what we discussed the other day ?

Ok well either everybody’s out fishing or they can’t help me , that’s fair enough 😊 Anyway I’ve had to try again as weekends is the only time I get to do this stuff , so , I’ve taken a washer off so that it’s the same as my other 2 reels in an attempt to get rid of this ‘coning’ on the spool and respooled in exactly the same way as I respooled my other reels and it turned out exactly the same , maybe even worse , right to the brim at the back and middle , about a centimetre from the brim at the front 🤦🏼♂️ Im now at my wits end 😡.

Hello Phil I got to see one of these in the flesh the other week when I was looking at getting their brolly system . They look and feel seriously impressive. They are definitely worth the price tag and if a mate wasn’t sorting me out with a Cabrio system I’d be investing in the Avid one without a doubt . You’ll be pleased with it I reckon 👍🏻

Ok so I’ve now got my spare spool and I want to Respool my one with the dodgy cone looking thingy from above post 🙄. So , do I literally throw it in a bucket of water , put it on my reel and that’s that ? Or do I have to do it twice , off the spool and then back on again to make sure it goes on in the right direction/clockwise/anti clockwise ? I really don’t get this stuff 🤦🏼♂️

Trakker, fox or carp porter

I’m thinking one lump sum crash course. it would either get it all over in a week or so or be a colossal waste of money . 60 years to pass my driving test eh ? -

Trakker, fox or carp porter
newmarket replied to elmoputney's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
That sounds good mate . Do me a favour , next time you set out on a trip take a pic of how you cram it in the motor . Ill need to invest in another one of these eventually but it’s more how to get it all in the car lol. She has a Ford ecosport which is ok , the back seats do fold down but there’s usually 3 of us in the car so I can only fold one seat down . -

Just a thought Elmo , how do you get the barrow in the car with all those bits of tackle in there ? Will it fold down or do you have to empty it out ? im thinking I need one but it’s one more big thing to get on the car … -
Like the look of these , the washed out look . Keep me in the loop re these mate

Yep there’s nothing quite like catching on bait you’ve made yourself . I did it myself a few years ago though I kinda cheated a bit . I used Odyssey xxx base mix which I tweaked with various bits & pieces and a few pop ups which ended up more like wafters before they were trendy . Still felt quite an achievement catching with em though . Its all about time for me ( I don’t have it) cos it’s certainly no cheaper like it was years ago . I admire you Ouch for your commitment and I wish you luck on those rivers . Which Rivers out of curiosity ?
-
Bear with me Ouch as I’m not very up on this kind of stuff but I was thinking does it matter ? I suppose there must be a point where you can overdo it and they are only pop ups so they ain’t going to eat em ? But I have something nagging me in my head , and don’t know if it’s something I read long ago , but 1ml per egg rings a bell . could be totally well and truly wrong and probably am as what you have used seems about right to me but , as you know , there are a lot better qualified than me on here to help you with this .

Well he forced me ( at gunpoint of course 😊) to take him again today . Different venue and they weren’t quite as keen to jump on his maggots so he became quite restless early on . I don’t think it’s going to be as easy as I thought it was and the secret seems to be to catch early on but credit to him , he was fishing in what seemed like 15 minute bursts and he got his reward in the end .
