  1. Then he pulled out a couple of little snottys and a few more little roach . He seemed to get a bit bored after a while and started wandering up and down the bank watching everyone else . Anyway after a while he sat back down , inspired I think by something he’d seen a couple of swims down . My Mrs stuck a few maggots on his little size 18 hook for him and he flicked it out . As it hit the water the tiny float disappeared. And didn’t come back . He yanked it back towards him and this … nearly yanked HIM in 🤣
  2. Well yesterday was the day . We took TJ to Puddledock farm fishery , a local hole in the ground . In the first few minutes he whipped out a couple of little Roach 😊
  3. Always Daiwa 😊
  4. That , I will be doing sir . Winding it onto a spare spool and then back onto the original spool won’t put it on back to front or upside down or anything ? 🤣 You know what I mean , the old clockwise /anti-clockwise thing .. difficult for me to explain but I’m sure you know what I mean lol
  5. Nice one Elmo but I’d rather buy some new line than a power drill for obvious reasons 😊
  6. I’ve misplaced my spare spools over the years and all my other reels (and I have a few) are all freshly and nicely respooled and I’m a little reluctant to interfere with them I’d merely be transferring the problem elsewhere, having to replace THAT line if you follow me . Im taking my little un fishing next week sometime and maybe I’ll be able to walk it out then though I wasn’t expecting to get the time to fish myself so I’ll have to see how it goes but Nick , wouldn’t casting and recasting a few times into a lake have the same effect ?
  7. Hey guys I’ve resurrected this thread (like I always do) as I’ve got the same problem. Respooled all 3 of my Evo’s this afternoon with Gardner pro carp line. First 2 reels , not a problem , perfect line lay , well happy . The 3rd reel , my ‘new’ reel I , like a Donut , forgot to check the washers beneath the spool and hey presto , Cone Head Spool . I’ve removed the extra washer so it’s in line with my other 2 reels and , of course , the spool is still in a cone . The lines only been on the reel for a couple of hours so I’m sure if I can get it off and put it on again it’ll be fine . But how to ? I don’t have any spare spools to use so has anybody got any ideas ? There’s not enough line left on the bulk spool to start from scratch so am I going to have to bite the bullet and buy some more line ? or will a dozen or so casts and retrieves into the lake improve the line lay somewhat ? Come on experts help me out here 😊 6 years ago I’d have worked this out or it wouldn’t have happened in the first place … 6 years on it feels like I’m learning everything again from scratch.
  8. Looks like a Birdseye Beefburger 😊
  9. What’s done me up is my decision to go from a 2 to a 3 rod set up after a 6 year sabbatical. Extra Rod extra reel extra alarm required All of which have been discontinued. Managed to get an EOS X alarm and An Emcast Evo second hand in like new condition to make the set but as for the my rods ? I couldn’t get another rod like my Berkley’s for love nor money . A similar budget rod would probably suffice but the temptation to upgrade was too much . My CTX’s I have now may be budget rods to many but they are a huge upgrade to me and I don’t intend buying new rods again EVER touch wood 😊 The above have been my main investments , anything else has been just bits & pieces of cosmetic junk that I felt I needed . A decent Fox net should last me for years and I do still need to invest in a good quality light(er) weight shelter which won’t be cheap but hell with it …it’s pretty much a one off period hopefully where I’ll be in a good position , have everything I need and then it’ll just be bait hooks and licences every year . which reminds me … bait 🤔
  10. Was hoping you’d pipe up Kev as I’d read your review of your ascent brolly even before Highy posted that link above ⬆️ Is the one I have my eye on the mk2 version of your one do you think ? I must admit it looks the nuts . it’s quite expensive but I take it from what you said above that it would be worth it yes ? Do you reckon it would suffice for winter ok ? Even though I’d definitely be a bit of a fair weather fisherman these days I’d still like the option . It’s why I’m looking for a Brolly that I can add an overwrap to if necessary. Would the dual layer material on this negate the need for an additional overwrap ?
  11. Yeah Nick , I’m leaning towards the Cabrio ( per our conversation) and the Avid but I read a bad review about the Avid leaking on another forum ( in a thread you contributed to funnily enough) and I want somebody somewhere to tell me it’s the Doggies danglies . othr than that , yes I’m leaning towards the Cabrio . Still open to different options though as I don’t rush into anything .
  12. With 2 different Wychwood’s ? Verrrry suspicious.
  13. And I’ve heard of the Avid dual layers having the same problem first time out as well , on another forum . It could be a one off in that case but have you heard of more than one case ? Ive heard of Fox brollys leaking yet everybody raves about em
  14. Thanks for that mate . Yes it does look ok doesn’t it , I remember another thread where we chatted about it . I wasn’t over keen on the fact that you have to buy everything separately and that you couldn’t add a front to the basic brolly , only the overwrap . I know I said money isn’t much of a problem but I don’t want to invest in a full blown Bivvy straight away which buying the shelter with everything else added would pretty much entail and for the money it would add up to I might as well just buy a Bivvy … does that make sense ? You know it is really peeing me off the way these companies force you to keep coughing up for additional bits . Its why I’ve instantly dismissed anything Fox or Trakker …and they’re not alone . Being greedy I’m basically after the whole system plus the option to add an overwrap later . appreciate your input though , I would have done the same . Years ago despite its weight I was always plugging my STI .
  15. Is that a lead clip I detect ? 🤣
  16. Just read an article in a recent , maybe the latest Carpology , featuring Tim Paisley that had a few pics of Ashmead in there .I’ll be honest I’d never heard of the place till this thread and it looks lovely , proper jungle hooks stuff . Nick , as someone said above , for £25 SURELY Carp Society membership is great value just for a chance to fish a historical venue like that ? It’s like watching the ⚒’s in a European quarter final … It’ll never happen again 😊
  17. Apologies for the repitition , I know there’s a list of similar threads as long as your arm . I have arthritis in my hands and arms ( less so) nowadays and along with my age will make lugging around and erecting my old faithful STI 2 man Bivvy a chore I’d rather not have anymore so I’m on the lookout for a Brolly system that is light-ish but easy to erect and put away in order to be as mobile as poss yet possibly small enough to get the main body of it into the central part of my quiver . Ideally I’d want the option of adding an overwrap in the Autumn and winter so although it appears that I want the world , I’ve made a shortlist of those that I like the look of , and would appreciate any reviews recommendations opinions etc . Dosh isn’t a problem but I won’t she’ll out silly money . I like the look of : Wychwood MHR mk2 brolly system ( I’ve emailed Wychwoood to find out if there’s a wrap). Avid hq dual layer brolly system ( maybe wrap not necessary ?due to dual layer ?) Rod Hutchinson Cabrio system ( I KNOW I can get a wrap for it). what ja reckon guys ?
  18. Thank you so much mate that’s such a good explanation and really clears things up for me . Grays ? Yep wonderful place . Hated it when I first moved here but I’ve been back to a few of my old haunts recently and it’s really quite a nice clean tidy place and we are quite settled now it’s been 8 years . Id rather live in Warsaw than Beirut let’s put it that way . 😂 thanks again 👍🏻
  19. £8 eh ? I might have to move up North
  20. Thanks everyone I think I’ll all stop pestering you all now . I think what was confusing me was the fact that although there are a few different models , the newer ones obviously with a few more advanced features , every advert you come across appears to have a different box , I’ve seen at least 6 different ones . Maybe it’s just me being a dope 🙄 they’re probably just that . Adverts . I think they look really useful little tools , especially on an empty lake . But as I say , there’s a long long list of more essential items I need to acquire before stuff like that appears . Good God have you seen the price of a basic chair ???? 😂
  21. Dunno what I done there , pesky smart fones 🤣
  22. Then I’ll leave you all in peace 😀
  23. Thanks for chipping in Elmo I appreciate that . Can then one of you identify which one THIS is ? g
  24. There’s obviously something I’m not getting here . Having googled these things a million times and scoured this forum and others for info , everybody except obviously the super rich ones seem to utilise the deeper chirp+ . yet on the deeper website there are 4 different types on the market . The Deeper smart fishfinder (most basic) The Deeper Pro The Deeper Smart Sonar PRO+ 2 The Deeper Smart Sonar CHIRP+ 2 No mention anywhere of this Deeper Chirp+ that everybody seems to use ? Confused.com
  25. Okkaaay mate , I get that … which version do you have ? Is it the latest version ? If so what does it do that the previous version can’t ? Similarly (is that a word ?) if you use the previous version what could the sandy coloured one give you that yours doesn’t ?
