number 1) i hate the word chod just refuse to use it lol. 2)funny enough that is exactly the rig my mate just had a sort after fish from my syndy on, withy pool/chod set up

i think the problem is not helped by keep changing bait? the baits you have tried are tried and tested baits proven to catch carp. dont give up, get a bait stick to it and keep it going in. you will catch. one of the biggest things in carp fishing is being on the fish, if you aint on or near them unless your long haul you aint gonna catch them. how big is the water? what is the stocking like?

as the fish takes the bait and hook in, because the hook is already pointing down in quite an aggressive way it will (hopefully) already take hold onto the bottom lip (as long as you have a sharp hook) as i say though i dont use it because quite honestly i agree with you

beanz, i dont buy in to all the "new" rigs and "fancy" rigs so tbh i dont know if it is more affective or not because i dont use it. tbh though the aggressive angle of the hook looks like it would take hold of the bottom lip a lot easier than a normal kk when used for a pop up (which ultimately it was "designed" for)

its because the angle the hook comes off of makes it drop into the bottom lip a lot easier. not that i have used it

not sure about cat hooks tbh, bit barbaric for carp but i do think that bigger hooks AND/OR heavier weights could be the way forward. as beanz said, if they are picking it up then they dont know its a trap, so by saying that we have tricked them up BUT just not hooking them. last week i dont a 24 and had a big time drop back, wound down into nothing. i KNOW i was done more than once on that session, dont know how i know but i just know (its that gut instinct that says i failed) gonna step up hook size first and see how it goes, then if nothing or the same then a bigger mould for bigger leads

no its not the reason for your tangles but imho i would NEVER use it with lead clips. thats a different thread though

how weird is that, last week a mate was saying that is the only rig he uses now, then it pops up on here. to me it is just another overcomplicated rig thats there to catch the angler. in all honesty there probably aint a rig out there that works how we think it does, including the one you just put up. do people honestly think that all these "known" carpers use all these complicated rigs?
