  1. Think the site was amended immediately - Tony told all anglers on the lake on the day and the site had a news flash on it, it was certainly no secret and made national news - where were you? Anyway I think you were probably looking at the piece about bluebell on the fisheries website - not the official site: http://www.bluebell-lakes.co.uk/ Still loads of absolute crackers in there! How many 30's, 40's and 50's do you want in a venue - any run could be the fish of a lifetime - so I suppose it justifys the prices and I've seen much more expensive places too. Also a good chance of a huge catfish to maybe 100+ if that takes your fancy? Stanwick appeals to me aswell - I'll do a session on Elsons next year - been meaning to for years!
  2. Kingfisher and Swan Lakes on Bluebell complex have been much quieter since the big two fish died. I fished Kingy in Sept and there were only about 5 anglers on it - same on Swan! Plenty of cracking big fish - if you want to pay the price and take your chance Stanwick has already been mentioned - but what about Barnwell Country park - think thats day ticket (day only)? Reckon you may aswell get one of the many club tickets - loads of lakes and river stretches with big fish for next to nothing per season. Some of the syndicates are cheap too and a few free lakes around if you ask about - jammy so and sos!
  3. Thats terrible mate - I'd happily stay clear of a lake like that! Thing is its not just the decent anglers who suffer the idiots - the fish will to! - There are some good day ticket waters about - but its no surprise everyone in the know looks for quiet member lakes. The mags have to be fuelling this chav infestation within the sport?
  4. Bluebell is a decent lake but if I were you I'd go for Sandmartin, its going to be quieter for a start - but the fish are growing on well too!
  5. simple well pinned down rigs and quality bottom baits - you'll probably struggle getting specifics from anyone tbh, best to just go, concentrate hard, fish well and learn whilst your there. dont expect too much as its fairly moody, but the stock is well worth the effort. good luck!
  6. Yeah Mark went a few times last year and had a few fish out, one of his other mates has gone regularly for the past fews seasons as well. Whenever I went over for a chat they managed to catch a fish on cue It does have some cats in aswell Edit: think it is season ticket only, but then Mark has just paid for a day so I think the guy makes it up as he goes along. Surley he will just be glad to have a few on there that he can trust.
  7. What trouble? Is it just people making stuff up to put people off - fact is theres decent fish in there so its worth a go if your local. My only opinion of the lake is that the owner needs to cut back the pads to open up the lake. 75% of the swims are gone leaving only a few viable. I have mates who fished it last year and others who went years back, by all accounts its easy fishing. Its been said that some fish were stolen and taken to Charnwood, but there must still be plenty left even if it is true. If you want the chance of a twenty locally then fish it and the canal nearby through south wigston. The lake has some bad points like access, parking and some dangerous swims but if you fancy walking somewhere near for a spot of fishing why not I say!
  8. The 2 truest things iv heard today It does not bode well when even the moderators start using text talk does it Come on guys how much text talk do we have to have in one thread? This is a local thread for local people and we will talks like we wanna - right!
  9. My mate fished Maynell last year - its a good looking water, I know I had some radical location ideas coz the regulars seem to lock down the obvious ones. In the end my mate became more interested in their Frisby one.
  10. Beedles has been very quiet and willesley could be worth a crack - both large enough to give you space. You havn't said where you've tried already?
  11. I've heard the same tbh - fish taken from Cossington and Navies as well as others that I cant remember at the mo - all bound for Charny! A beedles old timer told me about some of it coz the culprit was on beedles at the time - no doubt beedles has lost some too - theiving scum.
  12. Sorry for hijacking your thread I take it you already know about Meynell, Beedles, Murphys, Kings Lear.......... ? All very close.
  13. Cheers fella Any info about the sandpit greatfully received - my mate had some good fish out a long long time ago.
  14. Dunno - what info you got? I wouldn't mind knowing summat actually - anyone know the cost and contact details for the sand pit syndi? Looking for somewhere to do the odd weekend
  15. Hi sorry I cant really help but its seems I'm not the only one I can only suggest that you go on the site to try and get some info - probably the same as you would have to to get anything about the sandpit syndicate on the same area of land. I could ask my mate but he's not fished around there for many many years so any info would probably be useless. Good luck anyway
  16. Sorry Good for what? runs, chance of a good-un, facilities, safety, club/syndi/day ticket ?? Will save time overall if you were specific and can then cut to the chase You can also do a search on previous threads though we are a secretive bunch - good waters are thin on the ground so are you prepared to travel into neighbouring counties?
  17. Gives me enough time to save up the money
  18. Superb fish aren't they mate Might have to give it another go in a couple of years - we should however have a small social on one of the other lakes later in the year like Sept-Oct on Kingy
  19. I had a pic of a cracking stocky caught by manager Dave and theres some reasonable pics of the fish on the Cobb House fish farm site, though they do look much better once they've darkened in a clear lake. Your right Nige there was a good pic on the social thread - if its no longer there I'll get it back on somewhere.
  20. Not sure on stocks anymore as these two sources of info seem to differ - either way - loads of fish per acre, it can only become superb in the future if your looking for runs! Very good looking fish too According to members of the lake when it was syndicate and a few seasoned regulars theres been big originals seen in there. I have no reason to doubt that. If you want a definative answer just ring and ask Tony the owner he is a really nice bloke - one of the very best people I've met through angling! http://www.fisheries.co.uk/bluebell/index.htm http://www.bluebell-lakes.co.uk/the_lakes/mallard/mallard_arc.html
  21. Potentially the best runs water in the country - but needs time to settle in, the stock is huge
  22. Small fish - try the other lakes, or give mallard a few years
  23. Indeed! I bought a spool of it ages ago and tied a rig or two but havn't given it a go yet - probably save it until I feel that I'm getting done over on my trusted rigs. In theory its brilliant stuff, just needs weighting down, maybe colouring a bit.
  24. You fish it in a combi - so its not going to the hook you plankton !!
