  1. Hi tinca and welcome to carp.com most anglers tend to use fairly standard no knot rigs for river carp, same as for lakes, think the key to river carp is prebaiting, getting them used to feeding in one area, i plan to have a go at the river nene this new year, hope to get a couple out!

  10. A1 pits at newark always loads of "vans" in the swims and only a tenner for 24 hours with carp nudging 40lb
  11. how spooky, i was on a 48 hour sess last week and another angler suggested same venue to me, says it is a total runs water!
  12. what part of france are you looking at, a lot of the french site owners are members of this forum and if you can be a little more specific you will get some good suggestions
  13. cant recommend sapphire, i did a good few sessions on there and had one carp out, a new pb but defo a hard water and the trains do ya head in!!!
  14. hate to say it but selby 3lakes is not as good as it was a few years back for reasons i wont go into on a public forum. have a look at fairview fisheries, very pretty and some cracking fish to go at
  15. nice one ian, you could maybe pm jemsue as he does a lot of barbel fishing and might be able to help
  16. you dont need "the latest rig" just stick to a simple one with a decent bait and look for where the fish are
  17. north yorkshire is a big place, only one that comes to mind is raker lakes or emmotland near driffield but these more east yorks

  19. think you have heard wrong about brasenose lakes, just a question of getting the carp to feed over your baits st johns admittedly has bigger fish but lots more angling pressure, every one that goes to linear first time wants to be on st johns, hoping for a forty have a proper look at the other lakes and make an imformed decision my friend, good luck
  20. Have a look at sapphire lakes at cromwell, lovely water a bit on the hard side but if you get it right worth going
  21. how about orchid at oxford, you wont find a more secure and lovely venue, but can be a hard water though
  22. if your in pompey just as well go to linear lakes
  23. why not try linear brasenose, oxford is only about 50-60 miles from you, at a guess
