  1. has the tideflow got a little flat bit of metal that might push in to release the spool, see pic
  2. The pins are multiplying, the new NGT is now on its way so i will have a new modern reel, the nice little Belaco is now spinning very smoothly and loaded up with 100m of 4lb line, i also dropped on a nice deal for a 4" strike right at sensible money this morning on ebay this looks to be in near superb condition, Strike rights if shown a little love and care seem to be very reliable, sturdy reels, cant rule out that the collection may still grow
  3. Good info, will re lube it with a drop of oil, i may end up getting another vintage pin at some point, will need to be near mint condition and a good make but not a super expensive one
  4. I edited it for you, interesting video the small rodent can be retrieved in a very enticing manner on the surface
  5. now im back to fishing the canal by the lake on my book holds some nice chub, i may have to try for a couple in new year as never caught a chub
  6. Here is one of my old pins, a 3 1/4 inch Belaco, it was a bit stiff but a quick strip and clean, some light grease and its much better, now a usable reel, might load it up with some 4lb strain mono to use for roach/chub
  7. For many years i was completely against bait boats but yes they do have there uses and place, i dont see me getting one as i can still cast pretty accurate and cant afford one with sonar/gps, though i have looked at the really cheap basic boat for under £100 that actually gets pretty good reviews.....still not getting one though and thats coming from an RC guru (drones, fixed wing planes and rc cars/crawlers)
  8. Another big haul for me, a pair of Wychwood Riot 9ft 2.75 rods (great price) so my new 12ft Diawa rods are to be sold also from another shop i got the last kg of Crave shelflife, a second tub of Crave wafters, some Fox hooks just to try, a jar of Tiger nuts and a stalkers unhooking mat
  9. I just placed an order for the NGT black centre pin and some 10lb diawa sensor clear line, so should have it by end of week, paired up with the Diawa proteus 10ft spinning rod (cork butt) should make a nice float rig for carp in the small lake and maybe stalk a few out of margins in specimen lake
  10. Nice and thanks for commenting, i do still own a strikright hydraflow but its been badly stored and not really usable now, i see NGT do a brand new pin for under £40, this would be used on Diawa proteus 10ft spinning rod, will keep looking and see what turns up
  11. Im looking at reels very tempted to get a centre pin for float and stalking but a nice fixed spool or freespool might be the way forward
  12. Nick how do you rate the marco pin mate, is it as good as made out
  13. I am back and pretty active on here so more than happy to keep a close watch on the content and take any action needed.............about time i started earning my mod badge again lol
  14. Im not a stranger to using a centre pin reel float fishing for carp on an avon rod, this was on a club lake where largest carp was just over 14lb, however having scored a pleasant but not life changing win last night on lotto im rather tempted to treat myself to a Marco Cortesi 4 1/2 inch pin reel, in the past i used an old bakerlight pin also a nice strike right pin for a bit of course angling Of course im not suggesting trying a pin for big carp just up to 20lb i guess
  15. Hey i still have "A passion for angling " DVD but this is a good idea, maybe it will be possible to change the DVD section to read "DVD and Youtube movies" i dont have the power, would need to be done by admin
  16. I dont see a need for a section on bait boats, this can be covered in the section for carp tackle, but lets see what other members think on this, i feel it would be like having a section for rods, a section for reels and so on
  17. Not a bad idea but may be tricky to implement on here
  18. @B B couple of nice carp mate are you still fishing Nene valley area, i used to fish little horseshoe near Stibbington but club ruined it
  19. Okay, i made what proved to be a winning bid on a pair of wychwood 9ft rods 2.75lb for £53 posted, these will do the job just nice
  20. I am looking at fishing margins so i can drop a rig on a clear spot (weed problems) , i figure its better to place a couple of rigs close in and know they are on clear spots and not tangled. I plan on putting little tiny pva mesh mini nuggets with boilie crumb, and in line lead, but need to decide what rig to use that will do for both pop up and bottom bait? Incidentally i purchased a spool of ESP Tungsten loaded hooklink braid, by eck that stuff is dam near impossible to strip the coating
  21. Managed to tie a slip D rig pretty much same as the Mike holly rig, things have changed since i last carp fished lol
  22. Thats what im doing £40 for the year got specimen lake with maybe 175 carp to mid 30`s plus some canal fishing, got rid of proper bivvy and bed chair years ago as i knew i was done with session stuff
  23. feeling like i made wrong choice getting the 12ft rods, im learning more about the lake im fishing and a few of the pegs are a bit "tree`ed in" for getting a cast with longer rods, also i think i will be doing a lot of margin fishing, so might sell the Diawa 12 foots and get 9 or 10ft rods
  24. Have to say i am made up with the westlake day bivvy shelter its perfect for my needs just doing days, it feels good quality and well designed
  25. View from the new Westlake bivvy day shelter, what an awesome but of kit, nice and cosy, goes up in a jiff packs away small and goes back in its bag without a fight
