  1. 2 new arrivals top is a nice Mitchell 324 and bottom a very old 304 these were gifted to me by a very generous member of another forum
  2. For me that lovely feeling of getting the car back on the road after it was stuck on the snow and ice for a week, set of to work and got a front blow out on a tyre
  3. worth getting some decent bobbins and then sticking with them
  4. Been refunded on the reels from Gerry`s
  5. I will ring them tomorrow and get to bottom of it if no decent answer i will just ask for refund this will be faster than paypal dispute
  6. A not so good update on the reels from Gerry`s still not shipped and now website has changed to "out of stock" and they are not replying to my emails so its time for a paypal dispute claim now i need to find a different pair of reels
  7. sorry for the sad news, never good at all and it is still a fact a heater in a bivvy is a killer
  8. there was no need for slack drag orfoam on an open bail, the bobbin on the bank stick was not in use as i was fishing with a stick float
  9. Totally get what you say, clutch is set as light as can be
  10. the new cane rod and mitchell 410
  11. If you are not likely to get a night ticket it may be worth looking at stalking the fish come the better weather, im planning to do this on my local water
  12. B B good shout but the tape is working just great and can barely see it, seems i have more mitchell reels heading my way
  13. The Gorilla gaffer tape mod worked a treat i used the 410 with the new cane rod and no tangles behind spool, so happy to continue using at least one of these reels
  14. Very tempted but looks like it will cost another £20 or so, as i have a pair of old tatty reels that work i just as well wait it out for them to arrive, its not exactly prime fishing time with weather as it is so just gonna have to be patient
  15. So the reels still not shipped Gerrys list them as "in stock" but after making enquiries seems they will ship out sometime in January so clearly not in stock, wont be using this shop again as we have a different idea of what in stock means
  16. cant help thinking i might of got a duff roll of this, ended up giving it away and thats after getting a stripping tool, wont use it again, shame as ESP is good gear and i used to rate strip tease as best
  17. I get all this, im back on a club complex i fished way back in 2007-2009, i feel like im home again, just feels so right being back here but yet to catch, and its well stocked 4 acre lake with around 170 carp. I will say its really well run, as tidy as can be, proper made up being back on here
  18. As i no longer do over nighters just day fishing i take a flask of coffee with me but when i used to bivvy up i would have tea other than first thing in morning
  19. well said mr Gordan going into a big shop and looking at rods is the way forward and maybe asking for a nice new year discount, if you want cork look at Wychwood or tackle box derwent valley rods
  20. Hi lee, i think you could do better for less money, not really heard much about these rods, seems they are about £85 each, are you wanting cork handles, also you might be better of going 2.5lb tc
  21. The bespoke split cane rod i had made has arrived and i am super made up with it, this was hand crafted for me and is just a thing of beauty the Calder 'n' hebble 1lb 2oz Avon rod named after the local canal navigation i will be using it on for large Perch and smaller carp
  22. Yeah and no big rush for them but i did order 21.12 and still not sent out
  23. another item arrived, shame the new reels have not even shipped yet, a little disappointed with Gerrys of morcame on the reels so this is 12lb that seems to break at about 18lb
  24. little update on the 410 reels i cut a slice (long 4mm ribbon of gorilla tape and fitted that to bottom of spool and it takes up the gap nicely, it should improve the problem
  25. Might be right, time will tell
