  1. Just got to find 3 friends now ey?
  2. I remember when a kilo of boiles lasted me half a season
  3. And to answer your question, I have only ever used shop bought rods. I would love some custom made, but no one building using the blank I wanted, for a price I could afford! (Trebuchet light) For me, I went for a mass produced rod, from a company, and shop, that I knew of it snapped on the first outing, I could have it replaced quickly and easily. Rod blanks can have slight imperfections, and even the best rods can snap. And for me, i like the comfort in the back of my mind that if it breaks due to a manufacturing error, it won't be a hastle, with 6months wait for a replacement.
  4. Build wise, many machine built rods will not be built using the natural spine of the blank. Aside from aesthetics, Where a custom rod really comes into its own, is the fact that its custom. You can have the handle length set up perfectly for your arm length, and the eyes positioned perfectly dependingon what reel you are going to be using.
  5. On the subject of long hairs, I think they are great, the first pick up. But can get in all sort of a state if picked up and dropped, or played with by small fish. I just don't like the risk that the hair/bait could obstruct the hook point.
  6. I don't have discovery shed I just remember watching it after Strange But True! every,...sunday?
  7. Only good if it came in prolite!

    360 rig

The rule applies to hooks that you have actually bent. I.e a very long shank hook that you have bent into a curve. It was a popular rig/mouth distroyer several years ago. Hinged stuff rigs and 360rigs have been designed to give the same mechanics, whilst providing a safer rig. I would say you an use any hook you want off the shelf, and stay within the rules.
  9. Terrible rigs with blunt hooks....but my rod tips are always level, and reel handles all line up!
  10. I think rose tinted glasses play a big part. Everything can sound amazing now that its gone. By all accounts in its hayday, wrasbury was an absolute hole, filled with fly tipped rubbish, and surrounded by scallywags. Given the chance at the time, I'm not sure that many would be rushing out to fish it! It's looking back on it makes it wetter than it ever was. Fishing the likes of wrasbury now just isn't the same, but there are plenty of other big pits around, if you are willing to travel/search,filled with a hand full of very big fish. That are no different to the way wrasbury was 15 years ago. Make history, don't re-live it! If you want the excitement, guest on wrasbury Divers lake! There still are 'history' waters about, that are well worth fishing, Ashmead for instance. I wouldn't mind betting there are several long forgotten waters too!
  11. I think for comedic value, money would be better spent with 30,000kg of the cell, a tipper, and filling the lake in.
  12. Everyday is fools day in 'Murrica
  13. I don't think line running through a lead clip will ever be 'free' anywhere near a propper running rig with a large bore run ring. With that lead lip set up, try pulling the line back towards the rod, I bet it would move the lead.
  14. I have a feeling a can of worms may open here... But personal feelings.... Personally, I don't see the point in using a running rig with leadcore....or with an inline lead. It just doesn't move resistance free like a running rig is supposed to. It kind if just leaves you with a 'sort of running rig' with no real benefit. Not to mention if you get the smallest kink in the 'core, or bit of lead poke out, you hae yourself a death rig. Same goes with using a lead clip without the clip firmly fixed to an end swivel, the lead will never eject if the clip is not fixed, and if the lead can't eject, why are you using the clip in the first place? I like your idea of having a rig that can quickly be changed to a different style, but you have massively lost all the posative mechanics of all the rigs involved in return for a minor convenience. TLDR: If you want a running rig, use a running rig, if you want a semi-fixed rig, use a semi fixed rig.
  15. I bet his post gets more likes than reports Not all syndicate are like that. And not all clubs are like that.
  16. Not quite sure why he is so unhelpful maybe with a different attitude, people would have found out about his nirvana much sooner. Have a look at the ringwood and district angling club, plenty of lakes on that. Quite a few lakes in your area, especially around ringwood!
  17. Clubs sure are better than day ticket waters, but syndicates are a whole different world.
  18. So if you move swim....you have to go to the tackle shop to tell them? not my cup of tea. but I appreciate if it is liable to getting busy, it probably saves a few punch ups!
  19. A board in the tackle shop showing who is there in what swim? Sorry, I don't understand.....what does this mean?
  20. No benefit at all, other than the fact you can completely fine tune how stiff, and how supple both parts are. You will never get a coated braid that is as stiff as how you can make a combi link. Rigmarole, hydrolink on the other hand....
  21. Very specific question that I doubt many, if anyone on here could answer. I've never fished either, but I know more people who have fished chard. Get yourself down there on a Saturday for a mooch, and talk to the people who are fishing there now.
  22. What if the lead lands bait down? You end up with your lead masking hook bait?!? I vouch for two PVA nuggets folded around the hook. If the hair is real long, tie it up with pva tape wrapped round. I don't like small PVA bags, everyone uses small bags of pellet or stick mix on their hook bait, just not for me. The wind resistance of the PVA is enough to hold it out straight on the cast, and if you hit the clip, or snag the line when it hits the water, it straightens out fine.
