I think what you mean is use what suits your fishing and if you need to use broomsticks to cast out then so be it,😀
Seriously though it does seem like we will all have to agree to disagree on this one, and let's be honest as long as you are fishing and happy with your tackle does it really matter, it would be boring if we all liked/did the same thing

I understand what you are saying here but surely we all have one technique of casting so if im casting a rod 10ft or 12ft say 70 yards the outcome in accuracy would be the same but if I was to cast the same rods to 100 yards then surely the 10ft rod would be less accurate as id have to give it more power to reach the distance just my thoughts

I have been reading this thread and over the last couple of days ,and racking my brain as to why I would use rods shorter than 12 foot , and can honestly say  I never would and have never had the need , yes I have fished tight swims as with most us ,but cannot think for the life of me that I thought my rods may have been to long .
I personally think their has been some great marketing out their to make the short rods the must have thing.

I read all the rules then decide if I feel it is being run in a manor that I would like to fish .
If I feel its just greed or ignorance ill walk away

That is an issue with technique mate. It is not possible to cast further with a 10 than it is a 12 ft rod bud. The blank simply cannot be compressed with the same load.

For a small percentage of anglers it's because they fish small water with tight swims.
For others it's to save weight/space and to support the mobile angling approach.
For most it's a fashion statement imo. Sacrificing casting distance to sport the latest must-have kit.
I will always use 12 ft rods, they allow me to do everything.

This. is the deal breaker for me , The Boilies
Only boilies & pellets supplied by the venue are allowed as feed, you may bring a max of strictly 2kg per angler of your own fresh / frozen hookbaits.
Then for them to mug you off on their boilies at 10 euro a kilo

I have the Nash Airlite SS3 Wideboy 5 season , AAA excellent is all I can say really , zip that second bag on in winter and toastie all night long
Personally I would not buy a standard one as the way the bags zips on to it will make sleeping inside quite restrictive , whereas the wide has plenty of room to move around

dayvid reacted to carpepecheur in France - from a different perspective.
From what I have read on the internet, 95% of UK anglers, who go fishing in France head for the many British owned carp fisheries within an easy drive of the channel ports. I wanted to show that there are plenty of opportunities elsewhere in the country especially if you head all the way down to the Pyrenees.
I set out this morning to get some videos of the dozens of lakes within ½ an hour of my home which are never fished. They are usually fenced off, not because the owners want to prevent people from fishing but to avoid potentially very expensive litigation if someone were to have an accident.
I took my drone so that I would not have to get permission to access each lake and I started with the smallest which is just on the edge of my village.
I was aware of the lake's presence having glimpsed reflections from its surface through the trees in winter when the leaves had fallen. Unfortunately, I got so wrapped up this morniing with this first location, the rest is on hold for the moment.
It took a lot of thrashing through brambles and nettles to get anywhere near the water but eventually my dog found a way through. The third of the lakes, about 4 acres in size, proved to be an absolute gem with patches of bubbles fizzing everywhere. We are suffering from a major heatwave at the moment so fishing is not practical. Meanwhile I will visit our mayor to try and find the owner of the lakes and also do a recce to work out how to fish such an overgrown location.
Mostly using footage from my phone (so apologies for the quality), I made a short Youtube clip of this morning’s visit. I hope you find it interesting.

Excellent choice of rods , I have them in 3.25 and was putting a small mesh bag on the hook 94 yards,
The ones you are looking at will cover most angling situation you will find.

Well back home and absolutely pooped!
Ended up catching two carp (40lb 2oz Mirror) and a 32lb Common. Two Catfish, one at 25lb the other about 15lb (didn't weigh it). Also had a lovely little Tench which went about 3lb not big but it was nice to see as I love Tench and haven't caught one for donkey's years!
One of the other lads, Darren, caught a lovely 51lb Common, biggest fish of the week and a new pb smashing his previous 37lb. Great going and hats off to him because he stuck it out all week in a swim that had produced nothing really all week.
Tough going though. Baking hot weather for much of the week, water level was way down on the lake. Smashing venue though, ideal set up, I'd go again, only not in July. The mozzies were crippling.

Personally.... if I say I've stalked a fish,  the first criteria has to be that you've spotted it & singled it out for capture. And actually see it take your bait.
If you apply it to other hunting field's there is a difference between a stalker & a trapper
