  1. Lapworth is canal country. The Birmingham-Stratford and the Grand Union being quite close to each other at several points. For any canal fishing enthusiasts it's Nirvana. Same for potential housebreakers....check out the multiple mansions....... Ian
  2. Last time I went was with Mick Leggs and others. We used the tunnel rather than the ferry. Fast and efficient. I won't use the ferry ever again. Ian
  3. Joe, check out Rushes Lake. I've been there twice and it ticks all of your boxes. Google Rushes Lake, you'll be glad that you did. Vire en Champagne, Sarthe, France. Ian
  4. Going the long way round to South Wales then....via Ireland? I give up........Martyn, buy a better road atlas, mate. Ian
  5. Andy, they're heading for South Wales not the South of France............. Ian
  6. Another vote for Horseshoe. Secure, fantastic facilities, friendly and helpful staff and some seriously large fish to try for,..... and upon leaving you're very close to South Wales. The expression "No brainer" leaps to mind. Be aware, though, that it's not possible to fish Horseshoe just once.....there's some sort of magnet there, it's essential to return. Ian
  7. Spelling looks fine to me. Can't help with the fishing there, though. Ian
  8. To suffer, and witness, a major fish kill must be heart breaking for the fishery owner and all concerned with it. Not just from a fiscal viewpoint, either. Ian
  9. The target practice ceased when the tower blocks at the end of the lake were demolished, indeed the whole area has improved. No idea what's going on at the moment, though. Ian
  10. Wear running shoes................ Ian
  11. That's one of the reasons I've always enjoyed fishing the canals. You never really know what you're likely to encounter. Ian
  12. Agree, Steve. My choice would be solid bag with freebies, lead and hooklength enclosed. The OP didn't say how long he's planning to stay although I note that he's from Wolverhampton which is fairly close but not doorstep for prebaiting...... Ian
  13. I know where now. Thanks for the PM, mate. I was almost there......... Ian
  14. That bend in the canal looks familiar. Are you in the Solihull Lodge area, freeman? Ian
  15. Maplins would have been my first choice, too, but Hutch's offerings may well suit. Ian
  16. I've seen them. Some are well over 30lbs. I live in Water Orton, a couple of miles from the Birmingham-Fazeley canal. Go into the search thingy, learn more. Ian
  17. Wild carp are always female and often pre-menstrual................ Ian
  18. The Maypole area? That'll be the Birmingham-Stratford Canal, Jack. Seen it but never fished there, sorry. Agree with bivvystreet, cycle or stroll the towpath. Wear polarised glasses and find your quarry. All canals hold carp, some more than others. Look near boat moorings in particular but don't ignore reedbeds or tree overhangs. Ian
  19. Stickmix, I was casting my bait to see what I'd catch....... Some of the best music ever made was by The Travelling Wilburys, of which Mr Orbison was a founder member. As for poor taste....taste is an objective thing. Sweet, savoury or ironic. I'm aware that the gentleman suffered lifetime tragedy, he reminded us frequently. Did he ever get to Tulsa? Ian

  21. Anyone like Roy Orbison? I think the best thing he ever did was to die relatively young, couldn't come soon enough for me. Ian
  22. Rig foam can be useful in situations such as this. Soak it in glug of your choice, something for next to nothing. Ian
  23. The Blythe Witch Project is still in place, fish elsewhere. Have a look at Lavender Hall....arrive hungry and have the breakfast. Ian
  24. Not so sure about the CM comment......let's not get carried away............................ Ian
