Hi Nick, I live in Water Orton, a spit from Kingsbury Water Park and the thing that puts me off fishing there is the seriously complicated regulations. I'm never absolutely sure what's open, what's closed and what's any good. The website is less than clear! Do you find the same or is it just my stupidity? Ian

Rangler, as you live in Measham you will know the pools either side of the road past the M42 bridge, having turned off the High Street by the garage full of Rolls Royces. They look half decent. What's the score there? Ian

ossuss, where is this fishery, exactly? I may be able to help as my neice and her husband live in Heather, at the top of the hill. From their house you can see two fisheries, one each side of a road. Apparantly one is a syndicate and the other is day ticket. Let me know and I'll ask the questions for you. Ian

I've heard much the same. Some of us from another forum were planning a 48 hour social on there until 3 of the guys did a weekend on there. The social is now postponed until we can find a proper venue. I think they'd better do something about the fry explosion soon or the word will get around with resultant damage to the reputation of the fishery. Damn shame, really. Ian

Lillies Lake has good carp, very weedy and shallow. There is a small island near to one of the banks which is a regular patrol route for the carp. Be aware that these carp have been fished-for LOTS so know all about hookbaits and hooks. I'm told that the jetski lake holds good carp but I've never fished it. The marina holds good stocks of fish, I've had good bream from there as well as carp. Fish as close as you can to moored boats in the long-term area. The River Nene holds good tench and pike. For pike fish just below the weir next to the locks. Good luck. Ian

Stes, fishing the margins has always been my preferred approach. The margin is the only guaranteed feature on otherwise featureless waters. Where else would fish look for natural food? Slugs, worms, berries etc fall into the water only at the margin.

Well well, farting carp! Now there's a thought. I will certainly bung a tin or two into the bait bucket for future use.......wonder how carp feel about toast....

Hi, I was just making myself a snack, beans on toast..like you do..and I wondered if fish might like baked beans as much as I do. Has anyone used them as bait or, maybe, in method mix? Just a thought..................... Ian

Joey, I have to agree with beanz about the method feeder, it's so versatile. You can use it for casting into the distance or fishing the margins. In fact I prefer to use the method in the margins, especially as evening draws in. It has the added advantage that you can load as much or as little bait onto it as you choose, and you can add pretty well what you like to the mix.
