  1. OK I'm getting there all main tools are in place just need a steamer that will do near a kilo in one go even got a bait freezer so I can roll upwards of 50 kilo and store, gumtree for freezers. Found a few ingredients I would like to use they are from AAbaits, what I'm thinking is no fish ingredients at all other than GLM. Beef liver and peanut meal with a yeast blend CLO bird food and binding flours, it's the binding mix I need a bit of help with, I would like to get away with a 100 grams of soya and 100 grams of maze using the 300 CLO to add to the binding flour mix which should make up a nice open mix to take the other ingredients any thoughts on binding flours or additives to aid rolling would be very helpful.
  2. I try to keep my flavours human friendly the shed hums of TM1 and plum.
  3. Sheds are dodgy for tackle I put mine in the outhouse shed mouse was straight in there chewed my rug so I moved everything to under the stairs I have everything in carp porter bags last thing I need is them getting smashed up.
  4. In the spine of the bag should be a opening at one end the pole slides in like a book spine.😉
  5. OK, so I may just call into KWP today see how things are for a season ticket on pine pool bit of afternoon fishing plus will be keeping my Ecton clover for overnight. Been keeping an eye on the likes of bluebell mallard for a early session around late February be either there or Norton Disney.
  6. Fair play to your pops, bite alarms are beyond silly on most lakes during the day they have become a must have alongside bait. Never liked delks due to the boxy shape.
  7. Not even thought about getting out, making bait has gone the way of dirty bath water looks like if I do get out this year it will just be a few local lakes Think I will go with shop bought bait just haven't got the interest to start making my own, been ill as a pig with that cold, lost a stone in weight in the space of a week. Really was looking forward to picking out a good lake and doing a regular baiting campaign maybe next year lol.
  8. Think all waterways and land is owned by someone in the UK you need to speak to a solicitor that does the land agent practice, not cheap or do the paperwork yourself which means drawing up a lease contract. Other than that you might find a farmer willing to let you run a lake on the farmland by agreement.
  9. Mate gets bad sciatica ruptured a couple of the fluid sacks you have in the spine I wouldn't take that long covid alone spondylitis is very hard to diagnose it's cuased by the fluid sacks allowing the spine bones to come into contact and crumble.
  10. Prolly why his back is messed up back packs are for young guys I could introduce you to a few old hippies that went traveling with a back packs if they try to wear one these days it's lower back pain in a instant.
  11. A decent mixer to make some stiff bait, looking at the buffalo for 240 or a slight second for 190 either way I will wait till the sales finding a grinder is more difficult other than a electric mill wheel, not that expensive so looks like the job the blade ones seem to burn out fast and don't like oil damn expensive too. Basically a top notch bait rolling kit for amateur amounts so long as I can knock three kilo up with minimum effort I will be happy, the thought of only having freezer burnt retail bait ain't confidence building.
  12. Lucky gits nearest coast for me is skegvegas with a lack of motorways to travel on it's a right hack along the A roads barely even a bypass around all the urban areas. North Wales would be easiest to travel to.
  13. If the haiths would go in the base mix as is I will do that but it will need milling if it will blend in and still roll OK I wouldn't use the 50/50 mix but I think it will struggle with out the 50 grams of plain base mix. Just waiting for the January sales to see if I can get a deal on some rolling kit that takes the work out, nothing industrial just a leccy caulking gun and a buffalo 7 litre, plus a milling machine.
  14. The 50/50 mix from BAF is 30 percent protein think it's made up from maize and soy with added milk powder and a animal fat, it can be used as is. I'm looking to make something simple but outstanding I'm not keen on going down the feed stim route that's the ingredients that if over done and I imagine all fish are different can be a repellent, not enough and there was no point in using it plus it is very expensive even in small amounts. All the best baits I have used are brimming with natural attraction the cov gold had to be seen to be believed on the right day.
  15. Think it's more of a best value for return expected. On the portions and percentages I think including 50 grams of a basic 50/50 mix with 150 grams of haiths products would help blend it into the 800 grams of tropamino.
  16. The haiths kit has all sorts in it, egg biscuit molasses milled seeds, the robin orange is a pepper mush the inclusion rates are around 20 percent of over all mix I was thinking it would need running through a grinder, love the haiths products i know for a fact most bait companies use one of their Trinity mixes as the main attraction package in a bait. The tropamino is a complete mix made up by a facebook group one or two of the bait rollers on here had some input to the mix.
  17. My recipe for my home made bait cost is 11 quid a kilo roughly, going with a working title as Agent Orange due to how and where I want to fish it waters with lots of food and pond weed. A Very well packed HNV made with fresh natural products starting with 800 grams of the tropamino base mix seems best value by far the other 200 grams to make the kilo up will be a ground mix of haiths PTX, Prosecto and Robin Orange. Liquids other than eggs will be JBs liquid yeast and Essential baits fermented cranberry, I'm thinking I wouldn't need to add a flavour or sweetener to that mix. My only concern is would i need to include a small amount of binding flour to the 200 grams of haiths mix to make up what is normally the amount of flour in a kilo of tropamino base mix?
  18. Lol I will withdraw my critique of the local garage the amount of engine parts and plating they had to remove was a bit of a job as it would be on a performance motor. I wanted to get it done properly the Lucas starter is worth the extra 40 over a recon price I didn't ask about the one they took off the garage is honest so let them make what they can on parts. 160 labour costs is fair for a SUV Mrs got better news from hospital caught her cancer at stage zero so the treatment should be minimal it's why I got the car done this week she loves it did a oil change and that some new tyres had it running smooth.
  19. Wow I just got well humped by a local garage, mate warned me not to go there for parts, dude said he would get me a recon starting motor or try, I was willing to leave the car there for three days, same day as dropping it off rings me up to say it's done got me a brand new starter yeah I bet you did and passed full retail cost onto me he better still have the old one for me to collect or I will screw him that hard in the online reviews they will beg me to take a discount. 260 is full retail then there is a deposit to come off which is mine by law then there is the garage's wholesale account that gets them a discount from the parts supplier that's theres to do as they wish. 400 notes fitted I could of gone to a specialist and got a recon fitted for around 300 max, better still have the starter they took off.
  20. Carp angling is a victim of itself bait companies going out fast few of the good ones too. Then there is the lake management it becomes that intense you end up feeling like your on a garden pond fishing for pets, understandable when you think how much the stock cost. I mainly go for something to do I'm tempted to go back to afternoon/evening waggler fishing on differant day tickets.
  21. I will say the way things are with power packs the electric warmer seems best even my 20 size does my phone and ecig I reckon another one thesame size would do a heated cover.
  22. The gas they sell in the UK, the mix is not allowed in the USA think the max is 5 percent butane not sure if that's by regulation or demand those green coleman cans are the safest in the UK they fit the Mr Buddy heaters, it's why caravans use the red bottle flow gas.
  23. Sad news especially in this day and age the guy himself must of thought he was safe and should of been, the outdoor industry in this country is with out regulation it's not this guys mistake it's the equipment sold I really hope his family can get legal help as the gas they sell is a real problem and they know it, put a worthless warning on the can shouldn't make it OK to sell. Seriously if you must then find out a heater and gas that runs on propane I'm going by the gear they sell in the US you can get them but the difference between the two gases really needs to be on display in the shops.
  24. I tempted to get a bit of bait rolling equipment problem is I can get carried away and end up overwhelmed. I don't care what they say unless they have a massive amount of ingredients that were bought in bulk and are near there best before date no way are any company halfing the price of a good bait other than a one off to clear stock at cost. Some of the companies that closed did the same cleared as much stock as they could before closing. Think whacker catcher, a very good bait has got a company to roll the bait so the Ecton Berry should be back for next year, I think they use a fermented elder berry like what essential sell, good attractor.
  25. One thing I have noticed about hook bait rolling is the colour the companies must add a colouring to everything they make most hookbait mixes are a off white colour not at all appealing to the angler. Where ever I fish this year I'm planning the big feed approach by that I mean a 15 kilo bag of dog muesli per session with a kilo or two of boilie mixed in that O'neals brand looks good.
