  1. Did once or twice ponder shrink tubing a length of core alongside the mainline just 10 inches or so.
  2. That's a long strip of lead core, have been thinking if adding a 12 inch bit to my set up on a bottom bait rod just enough to take the top bead at the join there is that much mess on the lake bottom I would like something that sinks in as opposed to riding over any lumpy bits of chod.
  3. Also got 3 kilo of pellet but thy are angling direct own brand didn't realise that till after buying them. Not sure who they are made by so dubious about using them.
  4. I could grab some more and am tempted but it has been real slow I thinking stick mix and a few baits around that.
  5. Must be climate change I'm looking forward to getting out later this week that's unheard of for me at this time of year, hook baits are looking good, got a kilo and half of live system will also be getting some extra gas for my coleman lite gas lantern really does put some watts out, doors will be open vents unzipped it's a morning and evening use keeps the condensation out.
  6. I went for a very light flavour mix of the plum and TM1 to say it's suttle would be a understatement, also cleaned the cork before using and flavoured the bag it went in before cleaning. Not bad got some pop up which are real buoyant a few of what I hope will be wafters depending on how they dry out, and a few bottom baits. Once they are dry I will give them a splash of ccmoore 365. Really like John's kit the base mixes really are multilayered think it's the yeasts he puts in.
  7. First order of Parliament sort the elitist anglers out they are whinging about bolt rigs again and bite alarms, of course being eternally the right a ban such things would be best practice. They do have a point but then again so have carrots if you don't like carrots... https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/john-bailey-bolt-rigs-feargal-sharkey-9331046
  8. I'm doing some hook baits today for next week, got to bust some bottle corks up as cork granules can only be got online the corks are unused. I want to do two different flavours both in pop ups and bottom baits. Going to do a one egg mix of liquid then split 100 grams of powder mix into two portions and try to mix half of the egg into each portion of mix one lot of powder mix contains cork, or should I mix the cork in after I have made the paste and just do he whole mix in one? The kit.

    Lease

There was a very small pond out in the sticks just near Southam for rent nice spot all fenced in and had been used for fishing, the guy that has it now put a caravan on site and cleared the pond out looks nice now, that was a road side sign put up by the farmer, farmlands would be your best option for price.
  10. As always ahead of the game my carp angler pin up calender will fly off the shelves
  11. Do these vanglers also have a well sculpted beard, the last water I was on could of made a mint off the pink pound some seriouse manly action pics of well pruned men, then there's me pull a sock off and blow my nose on it 😁
  12. So there really are wanglers in the modern era in the VW sense of the word tell ya back in the 90s only hippies and well erm kept a van for recreational purposes 2022 welcome the era of the wangler, I blame the tory Party most VW van owners look like they enjoy the public reading of a tory party manifesto, that Sue Ellen chick wants to make me into a class a criminal... no way I will really change my ways the horror.
  13. The only hate there is from the over sensitive teacher context is key there has to be some hate for it to be a problem, alright saying that but you know the social services types will turn the screw better to warn the kid away from there games white kids from housing estates can be a great career advance to civil servents. Cars are more my thing if your willing to buy a Ford that is.
  14. I'm using a much more supple braid this week have been using the korda stiff that crimps just for convenience it's not that convenient to be honest, a palmor knot and surgeons loop are simple and fast, will be using PBs jelly braid had a few out on that this year. Really is a messy bottom on this lake.
  15. Just the job be perfect for it your not using the drag so it will last years my old Mitchell spod reel still works fine that has took some stick, no need to splash out on spod gear.
  16. The lake I'm on is real tricky found a hard spot in the middle that they will take a bait off, got it on there last weekend lost one on the take and couldn't get back on that hard spot with the recast I was close real close but no beans for the rest of the session. Will be back out this week Captain Ahab went and bought me a freezer full of bait and bits for helping him out. I was chuffed I could still do a round hard work window cleaning really do need every muscle you got everything gets a workout think its down to doing at a young age, got little muscles popping up in places they ain't been seen in years.
  17. I talk to anyone most carp anglers are a bit too aragunt for me they are far too serious it's fishing at the end of the day no need to look like a hyped up trainspotter Most of my mates have never been so much as float fishing carp angling is looked upon as a personality quirk, a bit like nesting. I can borrow a canal boat anytime I like guy can't get his head around it don't appeal much for fishing. I could of been crusing to Stratford today with captain ahab on the lash, but sunny Northampton is calling.
  18. Yep I had the same problem with a kilo mix did half of it with six large eggs five medium eggs worked better in the other half of the base mix.

    Dogs and fishing

Fred roughed up a collie last night broke free from it's owner who has no business owning a dog, Fred stayed at my side and give it a good seeing off every time it flew in, bloke was expecting me to prevent Fred from defending us both oh no the collie won't be doing that again. Fred is such a nice dog he got behind it and grabbed a leg, every time it came in Fred decked it then backed off. well chuffed with himself loves a fight that dog, not a bad one just a dog scuffle. Bloke even went to grab Fred, I was like no mate don't handle my dog get your own, obv scared of it must of been bite before thing is a hyped up colie looking to work.

Fred is a carp dog still have to have him on lead due to swimming issues but he does take vocal commands first time. took a passing dog two bites to get a response the other day I was in the lake another jack just had to fly into him nearly ended badly I got out the water just as Fred had grabbed it picked him up as soon as all four paws were lifted he dropped it he did let the dog get away with the first nip I was telling him to be nice.
