  1. Best bit is the RSPB have also fenced some waters they also use terriers and shooters on their land otters are over protected think the longterm plan is to introduce a animal that will compete with the otter, same people that think foxes do vermin control by feeding on rats, the level of denial is frightening.
  2. Got the letter from the breathing specialist doing more breathing teats as he doesn't think I have COPD also not pleased with the spirometry test done by the nurse at the GPs that's why more breathing tests. He had cat scans and x rays that showed mild emphysema but pretty much stated I'm as fit as a butcher's mut 99% oxygen in my blood, he was shocked at how bad and fast my chest infection was that started this, didn't tell him about going over in a hot tub outdoors I was in and out the tub all evening got a right nasty cold few days later.
  3. To make it worse otter fencing is being cut couple of reports on twitter, not surprised by that either but different topic. Anglers are being steered into pollution being the biggest threat that's pollution from farms producing food if the angling groups stick to script they won't get bullied by... see above topic.
  4. Too good to go app, got potential for a cheap selection of various food options, chain hotels, restaurants and cafes, I have a breakfast to pick up at 10am from a hotel in Kenilworth 3 quid be handy when out fishing get some nice big dinners local and cooked for a few quid. Had a lunch buffet yesterday for a fiver from a Chinese portion was massive I'm not a fan of Chinese buffet but if you are you get plenty.
  5. I could get something no doubt the Mrs has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome she was getting DLA before they brought PIP in she only gets the light touch reviews. I'm her carer I did work in adult social care for a good few years in a council hostel including medication dispensing to residents with serious psychological problems gained me whatever the studied NVQ qualification is in social and health care so the DWP have never been onto me either they can get very involved if someone claims carers allowance for looking after a disabled person as can the general public.
  6. It's not too bad if you are happy to make lifestyle changes like doing things at a slower pace you do need to make changes I have nearly collapsed a few times due to lack of oxygen found out today my COPD is caused by emphysema could of been worse. The DWP would probably still find me fit to work, lucky I don't need them as of yet.
  7. Butternut cell, nah rubbish, Used it on a fairly difficult water to good enough success it definitely attracts them in but as mentioned doesn't mean they will pick your hook bait up anymore keenly.
  8. Bit of better news, motor did the MOT with a advisory on a near to the limit tyre I needed new wiper blades as one was split, instead of fitting them before the MOT I left them in the packaging on the passenger seat, makes the inspector less picky going forward the bonus being the bit I put aside for any surprises can be spent elsewhere.
  9. 100 member syndicate 3k a year per angler
  10. If a lake has a sixty in it, best calling it 2K!, 3K if it's black...🤑
  11. Carful with that I ended up with Pneumonia last November started as a cold not nice at all I'm back at the hospital next week for more tests as the xrays showed COPD.
  12. Other than raise the temps in the bivvy above the outside temps you will always get condensation the ultimate bivvy set up is a pricey silent generator way over powered and a 500 watt heater once seen a guy with a halogen bulb heater the warm orange glow looked worth the 2k generator you need to run it.
  13. The ying and yang of carp angling.
  14. Need a few decent over 50's only lakes, I used to like a mid week only ticket not many do them now, you get far too many anglers trying to turn a hobby into a paying job, bait testers being the worst of the lot on a small water.
  15. Not so much hooked as I haven't fished it, but... I'm all set for this year if I want to, Bluebells, always had a yearning for it as Bluebells would always be in the angling press years back, I'm pretty good at timing for dodging the super busy times and you can drive to the pegs, which is the main selling point of a lake these days, means more travelling but so long as I'm not humping barrow loads around that's the main thing. Still in half a mind to convert the mini van into a camper wagon just struggling to see the point in it when I'd be in the bivvy anyhow, probably just use it for storage and a charging station.
  16. Only ever had one membership cancelled that was due to a clash of personalities between myself and a longstanding member turned up one day and didn't just get told which peg to fish but escorted to it, me being me well you can guess the rest. They was always looking for a reason after that, never could find one angling wise, never so much as left dog fur in my peg when leaving, had enough in the end so I gave the lads something to grass me up for lol.
  17. Not fishing related but a bivvy dehumidifier would be good, just bought one for the house, run it on the landing and it does the whole house nice makes the air nice and clean you can set them to any humidity levels you like.
  18. The DWP have been behaving OK, lol, Actually moved us over to UC with no hassle all reviews were paper based and completed in three months put the Mrs into the LCWWRA group after her docs sent some info in. Advised me to put a fit note in for myself due to a few things, but I didn't bother as of yet, still waiting for my COPD tests, and a hernia op, lol nah don't want to go on the sick... looked as if I was mad.
  19. On a mission today, battery went flat on my motor Xmas eve, so had to get a charger which meant I couldn't get over to the vape shop till today, bought on of those elf bar vapes locally foul tasting thing that got binned, considering it is meant to be a tobacco replacement you would think they would sell tobacco flavours, you will be lucky if the shops stock one disposable that is tobacco flavour.
  20. No such thing they all get wet, I did once get offered a set of seal skinz when buying my soft shell kit, 40 quid...I'll pass mate.
  21. That is a nice one I like lure fishing for perch but you get more Jack's and small zander than anything else canals are packed with zander near me all mini fish and chips size.
  22. Hmm someone is having a pop, proper got the crayons out.
  23. Saying nothing!
  24. Taste and texture not a fan of fish at all other than from a nice chippy.
