Not a purchase as such but I have been looking at a new rod or two something in 12 foot 3lb test, the 10 footers are fine but if I drop on larger waters got a few in mind, I might need at least one 12 foot rod set up. Was looking at the Fox Horizon X4 to be honest i like my Torques so much Fox is the only high end rod I'd buy off the shelf, I'd get the 12 foot Torque rod but they don't do them anymore.

I don't use a leader and I'm not a fan of braid but I do use it on my marker n spod set up get something around the 50lb breaking strain mark and use it without a leader, I just don't like braid, the noise it makes sounds dangerous!

Never say never I have been using crimps for a few years now and not had a problem big fish as well, you need to be fussy when using the crimps you can feel the crimp snap closed when they are on right if there is any squash in the crimp the line slips about in the crimp causing the break above the crimp, least that is what I have found. I use them for combi rigs and booms in general if you don't like the crimps Gemini tackle do fused booms that are really decent 👌
