  1. Maybe you had the fish because it still smelled of you and not that your smell had washed off… who knows Tobacco smells on bait…iv seen a vid with the great late Iven Marks chain smoking catching fish after fish that was on a river but seen him mixing ground bait and catching fish on a lake also. I used to smoke cigars 😞 and still had my share of fish maybe they like the smell of us humans…who knows The one time I category known for certainty a 100% that smoking spoiled my chance of fish was when I had was smoking a Henry Wintman cigar (other brands are available) they were quite long and I was reeling in a fish using a multiplier and got to close to the line and burned through the line. 🙄 A fresh bait every time I reel in even if the bait don’t smell of decaying silt and the old hook bait goes to feed the wildlife I have used wash out baits when I got in a swim and a previous angler had put his or hers left over bait in the margin I put one on as a hook bait
  2. If anyone needs to replace all the elastic which I had to I got it in B&Q can’t remember if they sell it by the foot or a meter … Elmo got a bit going spare tho.
  3. A friend new to fishing bought a second hand bedchair and was complaining about had it sags and was giving him a bad back he was saving up for a new one. I had a look at it pulled the elastic then snipped off about a foot redone the knot resulting in a firmer bed and no more bad back for him.
  4. I used garden wire the sort you use to tie back climbers but it wasn’t up to the job, then I got hold of a cheap nasty wire coat hanger sniped a piece off and used long nose pliers done the job perfectly lasted years

    RIP Bailey

That’s very sad and I feel your grief. I was lucky to have had a springer Spaniel called Tina for 12 years over 30 yrs ago and still miss her.
  6. Got some questions that’s troubling me about your pic Elmo… have you noticed that your net has been stolen from your handle and the cheeky sods have stuffed it in the mud… also have you upgraded your bait boat the white boat on the left of the pic is it me but it looks on the large size mate …just saying. It do look carpy tho
  7. Best of luck Elmo, I must say I do envy you having a bivvy dog 👍
  8. Elmo is still trying to get Betty out of the lake so he can cast 😂
  9. How’s it going ? Hope it’s dry for you, been raining down my way most of the day.
  10. I can remember driving past Oxlease lake which was a syndicate water back in the day to get to Hunts corner lake and thinking wow that’s an inland sea 😳 Oxlease is 26 acres, then fishing Horseshoe Lake which I think is about 60 acres But 200 Acres Corr 😳…just looked up the dock I fish and that’s 30 Acres which I thought was about 20 Acres
  11. I fish for Chub and Barbel occasionally on my local river and the Barbel never give up, a great fight..but to catch a large carp from a river I just can’t imagine it 👏
  12. I would normally wish you all the best of luck.. but iv sent the lot to Arsenal tonight.. and their in need of it mate 😏 A fishing trip is always better with proper coffee 👍
  13. Had plans to finish early from work and nip over the dock today the sun was up and I fancied Zigs in the warm weather, apparently they do like a zig 🙄 Then had a call from my mates wife telling me I got to go fishing with him, “he’s doing my head in” was her words. He had a heart op around 6wks ago and has had a flu like bug since the op been indoors most of that time so with the sun out off we went. Had a great time, good catch up and a laugh in the sun we both had 2 Carp and a Bream nothing big around 8lb for the carp but on light float gear we both had smiles on our faces… Then it dawned on me I’m just as happy fishing for carp no matter what the size be it on a small lake for a mixed bag of fish up to mid doubles to a chance of a mid 40 on the syndicate.

I use a Drennan match catty had it for donkey years, just renew the elastic when it degrades. Keeping it out of the sun helps it longevity. Perfect for floaters when you don’t want to much bait and single boilies on small waters. You can get a single boilies out a fair distance and accurately especially along a tree line.
  15. In my defence of breaking them i have got hands like Pat Jennings.. rust was a problem on mine always got my box open.. 🤔 tackle box I now save the little packs that collect moisture they come in the box when you buy trainers I pop them in the tackle box and my gadget bag

Iv got the Avid lime sticks with the curve tops I hate it when you take ages to fine a good spot after removing a ton of weed from the lake then realise you forgot to clip up 😏

  19. I thought the same looks like Ferraro Rocher chocolates 🤔 Must be a buzz when you catch off your homemade baits 👍
  20. Most probably the price, which is the reason we opted for the S7 . We all chipped in and got a 100 kg bulk deal I had 3 buckets on the go with 3 kilo in each soaking with the Sticky Krill, put a bucket out every lunchtime ( which was hard going on the stomach muscles ouch ) Hook baits were the S7 and Sticky’s Krill, had fish on both
  21. Yup sure did it was so mild I didn’t have to use the heating element in my bag The carp are on the move now, birds are nesting, trees and bushes are in bud. Enjoyed watching a pair of Cormorants and Grebes showing me had to catch fish 🙄
  22. I took 20k of S7 for a France trip and done well as did my mates, also gave a old French guy who was fishing some and he had fish on it… he was so happy I had a bottle of home made wine off him.
  23. Alas a blank for me, could have stayed another 24 hours but was packed up and away by 8am as rain was forecast for 12 I fished well no dramas, highlight of the trip was watching a mid 20 swim lazily under by rod tips 🙄
