Anglers naming fish

I think all anglers should take a fish naming course before they are allowed to name anything or at least be interviewed by a panel of fish naming experts. Give it a bad name and you get red carded.3 points -

One Taverham fish did get nicknamed Peanut. I took the pictures of my mate, and realised that his shorts had ridden up his legs in some of them. It wasn't us who named the fish, it was when we gave a couple of the pics to the manager that the fish got it's name.2 points -
Sleep system damp on top

Single skins used to be notorious for condensation if you can get a skull cap or skin for it that will make a difference as the skeleton of the frame work will create an air gap to help. ( apparently, putting the unhooking mat on top can also help) most other umbrella type shelters with the spokes on the inside can’t create the air gap so the skull cap/ skin is pointless. a waterproof sleeping bag cover will help to stop the bag getting wet.2 points -
Exactly this, if it's going to be named choose something cool. Letting the anger choose there and then in a rush leads to the 'Kev's Mirrors' of the pond - not good 😂 Noone cares what the anglers wife is called, what's that got to do with anything - bore off!2 points

Can think of a few but they'd all be censored on here lol. Probz would've had to have been called "little winkie" 🤣(was cold in early march 🤦🏽) Didn't fancy leaving my maggot 🪱 dangling in the water especially with pike being present so I assumed it better to leave certain things covered especially my toes 😅2 points -
Sox is better than pants 👍👍 so well done on not using that one. good job you left pants on though Imagine the name then..2 points

If you can find one that Ultimate fleece cover I use is perfect in summer to sleep under itself, and it has a mozzie mesh in a zip up pocket on the front. I confess, I don't know if it is still available but here is a link: https://ultimateangling.com/en/fishing-sleeping-bags/ultimate-night-fleece-cover It may be an eBay search for unsold stock1 point -
Thanks for the replies 👍 I'll see how I get on, if it starts pulling through the sleep system and gets damp inside it ill get a waterproof cover 👍1 point

It's completely normal/natural, can't be stopped. A protective waterproof cover will help protect the system if you're worried.1 point

My fishing is the same this winter Mate. I know you had some health issues and so did I last year. I hope you are all good now. Strangely I went to chase hip replacement at doctors yesterday and make an appointment for the problems I still have in my throat. @welder Ian pops in occasionally, Nige not so much and Phil occasionally.1 point -

I think it's condensation from your breath and the ground. I use an Ultimate Night Fleece Cover myself. I know that it's colder and you get more condensation not using a groundsheet, but even so I still often don't in winter on single overnighters1 point -
Thanks Nick . i keep meaning to pop in on a regular basis but i guess the fact that i have very little , if anything , to report on the fishing front has probably had a lot to do with that . i do miss the site and its regulars to be honest . Do Ian and Nigel , Phil etc still frequent the site ?1 point

Is it something to worry about mate? I'm a bit paranoid about it pulling through and ruining the sleep system lol. Nash hide xl mate and no wrap or skull cap, I do have a door for it but only use that if the rain is driving in lol. Yeah it was a bit frosty 🤣1 point

Bit late but i got some tips for taking off line. I set my distance sticks 4meters apart. I take off usally around 230 m, so a 1000 m spool is good for 4 reels. You can also empty the spool complete like that in no time.1 point

What shelter you using does it have a twin skin or skull cap on it? apparently it was quite misty last night I also heard the wife scraping her car windscreen this morning so it must have been cold lol1 point

It's probs light condensation on your bag from your breath, frosting overnight, meaning it's damp in the morning. A waterproof cover will help, it'll frost on that instead 👍 Good old winter fishing.... love it.1 point

Basically Kev I think you are saying if you are going to name a fish, just make sure it's not terrible or boring. I mean you wouldn't name your kid big Lin would you 😂1 point -
Loading line onto reels.
jh92 reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
Seriously I find taking line off relaxing, I can slow down and actually watch something on television, usually natural history or a documentary, or even Whitehouse and Mortimer. I must admit I do try to put the job off for as long as possible but partly because I know that I've got 300metres on each spool... With my health problems maybe I have learnt to enjoy everything that I can do.1 point
