  1. Yeah I saw this cringe material. Don't like the guy and will never fish his waters anyway, even if they were on my doorstep!

  2. This forced weight gain is just wrong, just a money making venture to put monster carp into lakes to pull the paying angler into trying for them, its not for me, i would take 30lb proper fish any day

  3. I believe the extreme feeding is why so many of the original Simmos had a short life. They had a high fat and high protein diet. I think some fish made it to 20lb in 2 years! I know of a few waters with original Simmos that within two years the big stocked fish were dying, yet originals were still going. Leney fish reaching 70years? I'm sure Raspberry in Redmire was an original stocking from 1934, and was caught at the age of 67. These commercial Fisheries are not my bag at all. I really worry for the fish, but the instant biggest is best attitude has pervaded carp fishing. We see new records, the biggest fish in the headlines, yet we rarely see long life of these high pressure high fed fish, and that is different from 20years ago when Scar and Les Graviers and Rainbow and those fish were record swapping between them. I'm pretty sure while those lakes are commercial very little feeding happens other than bait.

    so many baits ?

the usual advice on bait is to choose a half decent one and stick with it, get the fish in your place you fish to start accepting it

Hello Woodcutter . I'm thinking that some of your original gear , and that of Whataclonker , and Jules007 might well be collectors items now ? . As Nick said his water doesn't fish well after October so maybe when you do get back on the bank you may be just getting back into the swing of things rather than actually catching much ? . Tight lines .πŸ˜ƒ

  18. Welcome back, and welcome to carp.com. My carp fishing break is only 2months, and that is because my syndicate doesn't fish well from October, so I switch to pike and sea fishing

I remember that weekend, I went all over the Northwest and I ended up just not going for a few weeks after, EVERY lake was rammed and all the Argos Angmers were out in numbers 🀣🀣

Welcome back I am on a 3-4 year carp break so far lol Last Time I went was when they opened after lockdown then when the angling trust said oh look what we have done to get everyone back out, I didn’t go again. the fish haven’t changed but the amount of stinky winky you can buy to catch one has lol use what you had last time out with the same set up and you will still catch one.

I'm on a break at moment, last time I was out was more than 14months ago, not a single line wet since then, I did end up selling all my Gear, but recently started to gather backup. Bait, I think, is a personal choice AND can be an expensive 1....inuse Sticky Manilla all year through and did do before I stopped, now I've gone back to the same, but will only be doing PVA Bags close in range. Same with rigs, there is alot of mechanical in them, only 2 rigs for myself....Ronnie Claw rig, pva bag rig....job done. But don't think I could do the lengths of your 2's being so many years...

Hi chaps, just noticed this forum section! i joined at the weekend so i could get an I.D on a pair of custom rods, I'm new to carp fishing although I've been course fishing since around 5 years old. It was my Grandad and Uncle who started my fishing journey all those years ago, i'm 54 now! My uncle was a massive carp guy, he fished all over the world, loved carp in Canada, also Sturgeon and Cats in Spain but sad to say he lost his battle with cancer back in March and i inherited all his fishing gear. This has spurred me onto carp fishing and following in his footsteps, probably not around the world lol but mostly here in Norfolk. I had to take away from his house some 35 rods, mostly carp but quite a few old split canes, all bar one of those is now sold on, out of the carp rods i have kept the following (hopefully you'll tell me these are good rods) 3 x Diawa Amphorus Wisker Dictator z mk2's, 1 x Century Armalite mk1, 3 x Fox Horizon SFD 12ft 3.00lb, 1 x Fox 6ft Stalker, Fox Warrior spod, Fox Warrior Marker. Hopefully that's enough weaponry! Still got about 12 rods to sell, Nash scopes, Greys Platinums and customs etc. So I'm here to hopefully learn how to use it all from you guys if you'll let me that is! Cheers and tight lines, Chris.

Good to have you around. I would recommend holding onto pairs and triples as complete sets but the Daiwa Whisker Amorphous, your choice, I believe go for big money as a very wanted item. Depending on the test curve, the Armalite I think is a lovely rod for floater fishing, or in open swims, stalking with the lift float. I used to use the 2.25 mk.i at Taverham Mills for that exact purpose! The Fox and Greys rods are probably the latest rods of the list, and still valid and worth the use. Enjoy your fishing

  34. That venue (Euro Aqua) is the worst of the lot in terms of "force feeding". The owner drops hundreds of kilos of particles in every day around markers. You get 100kg of particle included in your ticket, and it's not unusual for anglers to put 100kg of hemp PER DAY (!) on their spots to compete with what the owner is doing. It's no wonder the place is full of monsters. Not my bag at all.
