  1. Having a sale is probably quite a good tactic in getting people to switch to your bait company tbh, a couple of weeks of discounted bait will boost sales get rid of old stock, boost turnover and hopefully get you some new long term customers, if they choose to cut quality then they are probably doing themselves a disservice as they won't be as likely to retain new customers,

  2. Like @newmarket I tend to carry on doing what I'm doing until the first few regular frosts or even into December. I would say 'first frost', but we had one a couple of weeks ago and then a few days and nights of almost constant temperature with rain. In fact with the rain, I think the fish carried on munching big time. Tim makes some other very valid points, stock levels, bait reliant, how busy a venue, etc. My syndicate is quiet anyway, the most I've seen is 9 or 10 on 45 acres, yet compare that to a commercial and you would have 50 anglers on that lake... The commercial is 'overstocked' so you catch compared to the syndicate. I do use less bait, but I tend to up the numbers of boilies and drop the levels of particles. Particles I think rely on the oils within to attract, in cooler weather the oils cloud up and solidify being less attractive.

  3. Well although the weather has cooled considerably I’d tend to stick to my usual tactics until the first frost but that’s just me . Stock levels have to be taken into consideration too . Are they still hungry ? Is the venue still busy ? I’ve not been out for a few weeks myself but I would have thought the banks have started to get a bit quieter? Therefore how much bait has been going in ? Forecast suggests that this weekend will be as cold as it has been so far this autumn, lows of 4-5c overnight…. Next week nearer 1-2c . Anyway , I’m jealous , good luck 🤞🏻

I could tolerate a bucket check but wouldn't have my bivvy and bag checked, are they an airport or something 🤷‍♂️😂 I had a rig check on a new water once, but it was as I just got to the lake, they wanted to see what I was going to fish with. It's a shame so many lakes has become so clicky. I got a few around here that I avoid. If you ain't in their little circle you're an outsider who isn't welcome 😂

A friend of mine was telling me tonight me that his mate who was new to carp fishing at the time got asked by a bailiff if he could look inside his bait bucket to do a bait check, the very popular day ticket water had put a ban on spoding maggots that week and had a limit of 4 pints, the angler agreed so the bailiff checked the bait bucket and asked if he could check inside the bivvy the angler gives the ok he steps in and said ok to look inside the luggage 😳 the angler agreed but said no to a small bag. The guy didn’t have any maggots My reaction was there’s no way I would allow him to search my bivvy, bait bucket and bait bag yes I’m ok with that but what if he insisted has he the right to ? Anyone had the same experience ?

    New bait required

£7 per K is what I happily pay for Mainline, delivered. 😊 A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to get A2 for £3 a K!!

One thing I have noticed about hook bait rolling is the colour the companies must add a colouring to everything they make most hookbait mixes are a off white colour not at all appealing to the angler. Where ever I fish this year I'm planning the big feed approach by that I mean a 15 kilo bag of dog muesli per session with a kilo or two of boilie mixed in that O'neals brand looks good.

  10. Mid November 2018 I was Lake, Dog, Cat and house sitting at Rushes Lake, Vire en Champagne, Sarthe. There are boar and deer in the immediately adjacent woods. Before the owner departed he asked me to be sure that the dog was indoors at all times on the Sunday. When I asked why the reply was "Because the locals hunt the in the woods most Sundays and they shoot at everything that moves and this includes each other ". I was sorely disappointed when they didn't show up. Ian.

  11. For 40 plus years I've lived in a village which overlooks the River Tame and I've never fished it. Next year I fully intend to remedy the situation. Ian.
