If I caught every time I went fishing I'd very soon become complacent and my levels of concentration and enthusiasm would reduce accordingly. Frosty, may I say that three hour sessions barely give the fish time to realise that you've put bait out? Maybe a couple of full-day sessions are in order? Ian.

I've almost planted the seed of a 48 hour session to the misses as it will be my birthday in April, I started thinking about all the stuff I could do, like reel the rods in, go for a walk about, drink a beer in the morning, afternoon nap and those kind of treats I don't normally get to enjoy, if I catch something it will be a bonus but I'm just gonna relax the Heck out of it and switch off from the world for 2 whole days csmt wait 😂

If you saw one then at least you have a starting point for next time buddy. I wouldn't worry about not having caught this year. It's been winter, the hardest time you could possibly be fishing. We've not really had any prolonged periods of high temperature to get that water temp up. Tbh this last 5-10 years I've considered March to be part of winter rather than spring (in fishing terms anyway). Clocks go back in a week or 2. All this blanking and freezing our nuts off will soon be a thing of the past. No need to panic yet.

I think I could say in all honesty on Virginia that prebaiting was responsible for almost every fish. On Alton I am not sure, but have a feeling it may have given a couple of fish on first night rather than day 2 or 3. I wish I could say I had caught carp this year, but on the syndicate I joined in September I really had no idea where they were hiding over winter. Lockdown and no night fishing when we could get out again meant I honestly could not find them. For the past few weeks I have been trickling in a few boilies with Vitalin when I went up for a day's pike fishing. This week I did see carp, so at the moment I know where they are.

About time to get my actual fishing head back on I think, I haven't been since December 😳 I'm not going to lie I haven't really missed it that much, haven't had time or the energy, it's starting to not feel like a bad time to start firing in a few freebies out though so I may get my prebaiting hat on again and start getting ready for a couple of overnighters and prepping some spots, ready for action, need to sort my stuff out respool my reels, and get spot finding and airbombing, hopefully I can find a couple of windows for this next week, so far I've thought about it a few times, but it has always seemed to be raining and cold when I get the chance, I'm just not that hardcore at the moment 😂 Anyway hopefully this year will be a good one for us all and we can all catch some whackers,
