I don’t use man made flavours either Carpmaster, I prefer to use additives that give off food signals, and investigation triggers. As you probably know fish don’t smell like us, as smell is attributed to scent in the air. fish use olfaction, the reason most flavours work is because they are either acidic or alkaline and therefore detectable by the fish and are considered investigation triggers. i like additives like belachan and fish sauce, so not concerned about them staying fresh as they are pretty rotten to start with as they are partially decomposed already.

    Popups

Very rare I use pop ups. I can’t remember if Iv had a fish on a pop up that is just using a pop up on a bottom rig. I use sticky baits small pop ups on a snowman rig in white yellow and pink , but had fish using trimmed down pop ups on a zig rig tho ....if that makes any sense

I have a real issue with the sticky wafters being weird and solid if that makes sense they seem heavy and compacted, but I have caught quite an annoying amount of fish using them lol, they are almost a bait I don't want to work but the fish seem to like them for some reason 🤔

Hello Ark I've just remembered that Sticky do their Signature Pop Ups in a mixed pot of washed out / pale , yellow , pink and white , BUT I'm not sure about their buoyancy - I tend to recast every 2 hrs or so ; the Sticky pop ups do feel a different texture to the other pop ups I use i.e. a bit " chalky " ? . 😃

Very similar to me. Late winter/early spring I'll carry whites and match the hatch. Spring, summer, autumn and early winter I'll carry washed out yellow, yellow, washed out pink and match the hatch. Winter i carry match the hatch and orange. Yellow pop ups are my go to primarily though. I'd say 75% of all my pop up caught fish have been on yellows.

In spring I'll carry yellow, pink and white. After spawning I'll carry pink, white, and match-the-hatch. The most important thing is buoyancy imo. Lots of off-the-shelf pop ups are terrible for this.

  8. Just dropped out. I only managed 2 nights in 2 years! To be honest, it wasn’t really for me. Lovely little water with a good ongoing stocking policy and facilities but just didn’t float my boat. Hard to put my finger on it but I was never excited by fishing there and at my age I’m not fishing anywhere which doesn’t give me a real buzz!

    Baiting Pole

Years ago for me it was making needles and monkey climbers, an adaption on my original Gardner pod to take my monkey climber bar, and spods. The baiting pole or even permanent marker sticks shouldn't be a problem while there is such thing as plastic conduit.
