You need to base your decisions on the levels of activity. If you see nothing just use singles or zigs. If you see activity then its worth applying bait - but not loads. Even if they were boshing out like dolphins I'll seldom use more than a kg or 2 in winter. Get rid of anything high in oil e.g. pellets. Same as I'd use at any other time of year, but in moderation (particularly if they contain oils - which most fishmeals do). To be honest buddy bait should be the last of your worries. Location is the tricky bit in winter. If you can find them you can catch them and you'll not need much bait.

  3. the only change to that lot is if I do a night I'll take my bedchair, the back's not up to much these days... then it's a barrow job, but that lot above is a normal day session... my young apprentice is loading up a barrow while I'm at me peg and setting up...🀣🀣

  6. The NXG stuff was pants for me, fell apart. I keep my terminal stuff in one of these: https://heritageltdedition.bigcartel.com/product/coming-soon-heritage-ltd-edition-bits-bag-dpm My Rigsafe fits in the large one perfectly. They live in a British Army Patrol Pack (also known as NI (Northern Ireland) Patrol Pack). This is one of my fave bits of gear - cheap as chips, hard as nails, and carpy as Terry Hearns jumper. They come up on the bay all the time for 20 quid odd.

  7. Thanks all been good to see how you organise it all, I think I may have sussed it 😁 Ngt XPR Rucksack, Slightly bigger ngt dynamic tackle box will fit in front pocket and should take most bits I think, 2 lead bags for accessories I don't have a place for and a few leads plus whatever else I can find a use for Ngt brew kit bag for camera and bits to go in Rucksack, Glug pot bag as well for hookbaits needles and bait based toot or I may use that as an accessory bag I will get all that in the Rucksack plus clothes and any other bits Then I should be left with food bag, bivvy, rod bag, unhooking mat, bed bag, bait bucket, barrow, I know it's not all that carpy to have loads of ngt stuff but for me Its good and cheap and tbh it's stuff that isn't that important to me really, it's only luggage isn't it,😳 but if it helps me be organised it's done its job I've seen the Rucksack and it's pretty solid tbh and should be a step up and be a comfortable haul to the swim, and with a lighter barrow too 😁

  11. Right I've ordered some Shrimp Pop Ups , and if they are as good as you say , Yonny , in around 3/4 weeks Trent will be selling Shelf Life Boilies πŸ‘ , so I'll have some of those . Of course if I don't catch on the Shrimp Pop Ups it will be all your fault , Yonny ; nothing to do with my rubbish casting , not walking the lake until I see signs of fish , the weather , my rig/presentation , and generally fishing like a plonker . 😁

These 2 rigs have stayed virtually unmoved all night in the lunchbox of truth and justice, that pop up tiger rig looks deadly in a pva bag situation I guess with more water pressure it may rest down a little more but I still think it will be good for bag fishing as personally I don't want the hookbait sitting out the top like a warning beacon😁

Size 6 with a medium kicker should be perfect for my bag set up with a wafter or low pop up, just a smidge more delicate 😁

  18. You could use any hookbaits and use that lot as feed if you have one you are confident will work use that,if not just get a few different pop ups you think may work, personally what I think I'll do with my leftovers is glug them all in some of the new bait liquid or a hydrosyrup they will still eat it probably, it's early in the year still even if I start with mixed by the time they spawn I should be on the right one solely and can keep pre baiting it and they should still want to eat it, I liked the source back in the day, and B5 seemed to crop up in carp talk often enough so I think they should both help catch fish, you may find they love it on your lake πŸ‘
