Personally unless the lake bed you are fishing is flat I would use a coated braid, especially at this time of year as there may be leaves and detritus around to ruin your presentation, and be careful steaming fluoro it's quite easy to weaken it I think3 points -
Lead Clip or Helicopter

Lead clips also allow you to switch to and from zigs very quickly.2 points -

I think @elmoputney is just trying to throw us off the scent by talking about different companies and different flavours , maybe he's been scent from hell .2 points -
Hi all, Decisions... I've got both lots of Terminal but I'm contemplating between Korda Lead Clip Action Pack (clay) or Korda Dark Matter Helicopter Setup (Clay) I do EXACTLY what the lead Clip shows on the pack. But also have 3 of these too...only used once. but the helicopter looks a throw anywhere setup.1 point

Bream deflectors

It was certainly more noticeable in the snails, not so much the wafters or bottom baits tbh, but that could be to do with the pop up mix taking on flavours differently to the rest of the mix so it stands out more1 point -

If that stuff is in retro's shropshire gold then it must be at very low levels as it doesn't smell through the bags , I'll see if Nick will tell me sometime .1 point -

I keep my extra ones in the freezer this normally consists of me buying them in different colours and sizes and mixing them all up into 1 pot which comes with me1 point -

When I went to put them in the freezer, I was kind of amazed how much bait I already had in there, there was about 15kg already whoops I thought I had about 4 or 5 ๐ณ Think I will start with a pick n mix baiting strategy to empty the freezer ๐1 point -
Sorry but I'd never lock a lead onto a clip recipe for disaster that...1 point

Could just put a heli swivel above a lead clip and do both with one set up if you want to loose a lead.. if not push the tail rubber on tight or a mono wrap around the arm sure it can be done but I havenโt checked... so donโt shoot me down in flames yet!!!! the idea just popped into my head1 point

Lead Clip or Helicopter
yonny reacted to Pete Springate's Guns for a topic
My thoughts exactly. Canโt remember the last time I had a tangle with a lead clip set up. Helis for Stiff links and chods (obs) but Iโm not so keen on them for coated braid rigs.1 point -
May experiment with 1 on each next time...๐๐1 point

Lead Clip or Helicopter

I actually get less tangles with lead clips. I don't think the heli is the tangle proof solution it's made out to be. Unless you hit the clip absolutely perfectly on the cast, the hook link can wrap/kink around the leader on impact with the surface. You can watch the rig all the way out and it'll look fine but when you use a stiff link you can sometimes see the tell-tale kink where it's wrapped up the leader after retrieval. With a lead clip if you watch the rig on the way out and it lands ok you can be 100% sure it's tangle free imo. Just my experience.1 point -
It's really versatility as only 1 water at moment I fish is weedy, I've always used lead Clip...inlines for me are mainly for PVA bag fishing, but I like the look of Heli setups, but I won't be dumping the lead either, as stated not a weed water fisher, most of the lakes I fish either have mud/clay bottom. It's just the versitily of changing from a bottom to a pop up by a quick change. Yeh can do on both setups but also thinking of tangles, lead Clip not to bad but Heli to me is 100% tangle free.1 point

Ronnie rigs with a loop
yonny reacted to Its-grim-up-north for a topic
Use something like a Korda chod stiff rig tool to hold in each loop when steaming straight, this will also make those loops nice and round to give plenty of movement. I take it your using this on a helicopter set up?1 point -
Dont get to preoccupied with bait ,choose a recognised quality bait and go with it , If your happy with your rigs and choice of swim, then as I have said on here before ,the only reason I dont catch is if the fish are not their or they are not feeding , I use Hybrid no better no worse than any I have used in the past , I just get it for a good price.1 point

Sort the guttering out, repoint with 4 in 1. I wouldn't apply water repellent on until the end of summer, allow the bricks to dry out. If you stop evaporation externally, guess which side the damp comes out??? If its a solid wall highy, consider putting a mesh cavity membrane, dot n dab plasterboard to that. Good luck mate1 point
