  1. I own a little stretch of river used to love taking my boy down there to fish for brownies & silver's ... nothing much left in there now . I think your right about angling in the UK , but it's not "could be" it will be mate ...it's already started as you know from first hand experience.

  2. Good shout. Looking at these on Amazon now. £4.95 for 10. Might just order a pack of 4's and 6's.

I to be fair we was thinking about farlows but when ever I've gone there before it is always ram jam and with the winter deal going can imagine its still just as busy but will probably head for that area and give it a look and go from there. What other lakes are near farlows?

  4. I looked at these a while back, when a certain venue allowed/recommended them. I posted on here! Only one reply! Said they were OK! I'd consider buying a pack if I had to fish a barbless venue.

Happy new year to you too. Unfortunately, my personal opinion of Thorpe Lea is not positive. Firstly, there was a KHV outbreak back in 2016. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/koi-herpesvirus-disease-outbreak-confirmed-in-surrey Personally, I won't go to anywhere I know has had KHV. It looks like the FHI have lifted the restrictions they had in place. Secondly, it can be a bit of a scrum to get a swim at opening time. Thirdly, you have to choose your swim when you arrive and it's marked off on a board at the entrance. If you go for a walk around, you could miss out on your favoured swim. It's probably less of an issue at this time of year. Finally, back when I did try this place, fish were falling off my hooks all the time due to poor mouth condition. It is a commercial runs water and attracts the casual and less than attentive crowd. I'm sure there are other places around that are better if you want a bend in your rod.

  8. Well lads what can I say , very depressing day to be an angler ! Absolutely no big fish left so the common above has been had this winter as I spotted it in the summer . Even the small amount of fish left the majority of them had half a tail . So from my findings today if your on a water getting hit hard by otters in a few years there be nothing left & what is will more likely be damaged . The future looks proper grim !
