  1. There is an interesting statement on ABS Face Book page...… Active Bait Solutions...….. Regarding GK's previous business relationship with TD and Urban Baits..... Can't copy and paste it..... Basically stating that one party wanted to cut corners on bait ingredients, whilst the other did not...…. A good example of stealing a recipe, re-naming it and chopping it with cr8p or leaving out a couple of the expensive ingredients...… This comes straight from the horses mouth and does not surprise me at all...….

  2. That. Try whacking a few slices of bread in a bucket, adding water, and mixing to a slop. Add to this whatever you feel like to make a very visual and very effective spod mix.

have a look at the chunkon mags. they are only a few quid each. short but compelling stories and some banging pictures in there too. I'm not a massive fan of reading, but put a carp book in front of me and i'll read it front to back before putting it down!

I've got the JRC Radars and cannot fault them at all. A very useful set of features, I especially like the 3 way on/off toggle switch which makes things a doddle when setting bobbins etc. Switch to the right and they're on, in the middle they're off, and to the left they are on but with a neat little nightlight to show where they are in the dark. Battery life is superb, (I'm still on the originals with no sign of them giving up the ghost), and separate tone/volume/sensitivity controls. The receiver is a little "plasticky" but that doesn't bother me as it is either on my bivvy table or hanging from the brolly. I would highly recommend these for the price. Just under £95.00 on ebay for the all blue set (which I have because blue is cool!)... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-JRC-Radar-CX-3-1-Carp-Fishing-Bite-Alarm-Set-Blue-With-Case-1411118/132764328259?epid=2255211171&hash=item1ee95ee143:g:1f8AAOSwA3dYHe4q

  6. Floating bread is very likely to get taken even if they are cagey about mixers and surface feeding. Also slow sinking flake is an absolute winner on the right water, cast a few yards in front of cruisers and they will often follow it down and take it. My first carp came on ledgered bread, nearly pulled the rod in - epic!

  7. Tbh mate, It confirms what many already knew. Also, the stuff he apparently sold out of the back of a bivvy years ago, won’t have been in the Geoff Bowers league. 😉

  8. One of my 'goto's' on the park lake with sweetcorn and/or pigeon conditioner added into the mix. I also save up and dry my old crusts and odd slices to go in as well. The anglers who fish just boilies can sit for hours without a touch, but put this into the lake close in on a float line and you can catch in minutes, and often the bigger fish.

The JRC's are head and shoulders above the NGT's. I'd not look past the JRCs'.

Agree, the fish are awful too. The Kent area is one of the best in the country for carp, loads of awesome waters. I'd look no further than Mid Kent Fisheries..... there's enough special carp on those tickets to keep you going for years.

The Chunk On series is good, I have the lot of them. Hoping the collection will be worth something one day.

I will have a look for them. They sound more like my kind of thing. I think when I think of reading it needs a similar layout to that of a book aged at pre school kids lol Haha, I am hoping this will be the case for me too!

I've got a pretty short attention span and reading a book cover to cover, well, hardly ever happens...… Hutches recommendation Carp Strikes Back, I found and easy read as each chapter is a tale in it's self, quite a light read, very funny in places and also very informative on the fishing front, without being instructional. Currently reading for the second time and picked my copy up off ebay, paper back, brand new for a tenner (original !st edition copies in good nick cost a bomb). But re prints are more affordable...….. If you really want to treat yourself, then, by far the best carp angling book I've read is Terry Hearns first book, In Pursuit of the Largest... Had me rivetted from start to finish, several times, just for the sheer adventure of it, and like I say, I'm not great at finishing books...….. Not sure what they go for now, about 30 brand new, but well worth paying 20 for a used one if you see one.... Sorry, I know it's over budget, but well worth it imo..

  18. I've used chum mixers as pop ups, 2ft off bottom (it wasn't called zig fishing in ye olde days)…… Me and a mate had a few through the winter like this, but you can't really leave them out for more than an hour or so as they swell and go soft and the coots will take them.....

    Rig foam

I use quite long hairs so I'd be worried about the bait being wrapped around the hook or some sort of tangle . It's a small stick for me every time. I have at least 4 or 5 made up in case of miscasting when casting to a feature.

  20. Tel drew a blank, maybe the dragons saw the video on the Urban site, with Terry and Jim? When explaining about good bait, Tel says that once his bait is in the carp’s “stomach” they feel good and know it’s good! 😂😂😂 Shouldn’t a bait expert know that carp don’t have stomachs? 🤣🤣

    Kingston pools

Thanks for the reply. We fished the First pool to start but moved later onto Meadow pool. Very slow but it was very hot that day. I finally managed to stalk a 13 1/2 out in the evening. It had half a tail and looked like otter damage. The place seemed very run down. But as you said very quiet,we had the place to ourselves for most of the day.
