I had a very pleasant surprise last night. Kim and Iain, the owners of Rushes Lake, have invited me and my son Alan to house/dog/cats/ lake sit for ten days mid November. The lake is closed to fishing from October to March each year so we'll have complete access to everything. This is almost entirely down to the fact that their dog, Mylo, and my son became firm friends during our recent week there. They are off to visit their son in Dubai for a week. Excited? Oh, yes. A small leap forward for yesterday, Hempseed and tigers, the coots did dive but we're coming up with very little and soon did the off. Second problem was getting a bait to out last the crays so I used an uncooked tiger. Hard as nails but it did the job

Thermacell. weigh next to nothing, well made and in use ,last hours, days depending on what you need, and with its carry case can be strapped to you self eg ankle or just left near you. They keep everything at bay, I've tested on Scots midge, Mosquito, Sand Fly, Birch Fly etc etc and the closest any came was about 2 metres.

You lot are unreal, its 2018 and you still cover your skin in chemicals that cost you the earth! There is a far better option that's guaranteed regardless of insect, or person type.

You do have other options if you want to tart them up, carbon effect hydro dipping looks nice, if you have someone local that will do small jobs, or you could do it yourself, it is very similar to the old decal transfers you get in airfix model planes and that, My brother-inlaw is currently playing about with a BMW that he is slowly turning into a track/road car, he puts it on wheels and body panels, so it must be quite hard wearing, i have thought about getting my fiesta wheels done, but i doubt i would get a discount, lol. Chrome is a sod to paint, but it can be sanded back to take a paint, some paints are said to be able to cover chrome, but they don't look right and the chrome still shows through even in black

Just had an email from Eddy (the owner of Genesis) with final travel details. He confirmed that Liddy and I are the only two booked on from 7th July, so have the whole lake to ourselves!!! Pick of the swims, and plenty of stalking opportunities without upsetting other anglers. I can see a few house bricks going in up the far end of the lake, we've got to get them around our rigs haven't we lol! Does it get any better????? 😁
