  1. Went back to the scene of my last blank while my mate fished the nearby runs water. Found a few fish where I'd seen one lump out last time...….. Different approach this time...… Fishing mega close in about a rod length out on the margin slope.....Simplest of rigs and maybe a dozen whole and broken baits scattered along the margin...……. 11pm a 19lb mirror obliged during a torrential downpour, 4am a lovely 23lb common on the same left hand rod... Happy days, first 20lber of this season...… I did have a couple of Tench, including a huge male which I weighed out of curiosity, bang on 6lb... Both tench coming to the right hand rod...…... Fish pics not permitted on public forums from this venue unfortunately..... But if I'm lucky enough to land something decent with a decent pic, then I may well change my Avatar now and then 😃

  2. On holiday with the family.... the farmhouse we booked happend only to be half an hour from the syndi , so promised to take my boy & his older cousin for a 24hr + . Finally got pretty much everything set up now. Rowed my baits out on to some spots, & nice helping of bait over each rod . They had the float & maggots out while I set up camp My boys first eel There demanding food now so better crack on lol !

  3. Well ended up finishing earlier that was planned as they started spawning late morning . So reeled in & left them to it . I must take the boys more often as both times I've had a goodun in the night

  4. Thanks mate...… It's just one of very few simple rules on that ticket..... It's not the most difficult of venues and a few "bait boys" have exploited it in the past to not only promote their products, but literally fill it in with their bait and ruin the fishing. So banning public pics is a sensible way to prevent that..... I'll try to squeeze the odd pic in if I get a gooden from here, via my profile pic...… Should be ok now and then as long as no products or the venue are mentioned...…. I would have to check first, don't really want to lose my ticket over a fish pic.

    Thought of the Day pt.2

agreed. I just like a bit of hot weather, does the population a world of good!! Today I'm trying to get motivated to write the final part of my blog on the estate lake, I have May to do and then a little end of season round-up before taking a little step back to keep my fishing low key. I'll be writing blogs but not posting them until the time is right. Hopefully a couple of product reviews and casual trips with friends will be written up in the meantime though. I think most of the content from the next two blogs will be written whilst on the plane for my holiday, to be published early July.

  6. I thought the thought of the day thread was a good one. So I suppose, let’s revive it. We’ve had a shed load of rain today, as has most the country. Where has summer gone?!

  7. The boys are obviously good Karma, Phil. Added bonus is the bonding between Dad and lads, you can't buy it, it has to be earned. Enjoy! Ian

  8. No way mate don't jeopardise your ticket for a photo, no one is going to do that. 😀 As for the other idiots there's always someone to spoil it for other members. 😡

    Thought of the Day pt.2

I personally think the weather over the last few weeks has been perfect. Bit of rain so we don't get parched, a few thunderstorms (don't mind those) and a nice cooling breeze at times.

  12. Where has summer gone is a good question. My wife, gorgeous granddaughter and I spent 4 nights at a campsite in the Clent Hills nearish to Birmingham, having towed our touring caravan there last Friday. Granddaughter always claims my berth in the van so I sleep on my Nash Indulgence in the awning, space shared with Daft Dexter, our elderly chocolate Labrador. All was well until around midnight when Thor decided to show off with a spectacular thunder and lighting display with added deluge. Wife and granddaughter slept through most of it...….meanwhile the awning was fully lit by the lightning so the only sleep attained was by Dexter who really doesn't give a monkey's about anything much..... Next day the sun shone, I got a bit of a tan, granddaughter made loads of friends and Birmingham, our home town, was under water.... Moral? Get a caravan and take the high ground. Ian

It's not even June yet. Think we have been a bit spoiled so far.

  15. I had an offer to go paint stripes on the humbugs at the candy shop, but at my age can't see giving up my career as a whisky taster.
