  1. We're out at the river and each caught a few in the 12 - 14 lb range and Rob just got this 25-8. We're netting for each other so glory all around.

  2. Thanks, I'm really enjoying it. I only got a few runs out of my batteries so have to take care of that later.

  3. That would get me going off on one. My eldest daughter was coming with me from the time she could run, and coming in a dinghy. My youngest daughter while not on the dinghy fishing front has been fishing herself, as has my son since he was that age. Shame about having F1's in there, a bred modification designed to please match anglers, and can be a pain to carp anglers, and that price is miles too high for what it is, especially since there are other waters in the area on club books with higher quality fish. In fact, found this, spinning with a multiplier, she was 4

    River season

Anyone got any plans for when we're allowed to fish the rivers again? I'm itching to get down there with a pint of maggots and a float rod for a few hours. I'd like a decent chub this year too. I found a nice little spot last year that produced a lot of smaller ones so I'm gonna go back there this year and see if I can get one of the bigger ones. Not too worried if I don't have anything of a decent size, it's still really fun bagging up on small fish lol šŸ˜

  5. I get exactly what you are saying mate, and I did nearly lose my rag but kept it under control and was ā€œthe bigger personā€ I kinda understand where she was coming from but on the same hand she should have asked questions regarding my daughters confidence and experience around water instead of just assuming. Both of my children have grown up around water my son was out in the canoe with me from about two and falling asleep in it at three šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

  6. After catching a 40 lb + & an upper 30 cat last year on my carp gear , I'm of the thinking that I needed every bit of power my 3.25 torrix could muster to slow there powerful runs down still couldn't stop them so had to play them through a big lillie bed . If I hadn't of been fishing a snag line & tubing probably would of been a different outcome than both ending up in the net . My last outing on the lake had me hook up a cat fish while fishing zigs . It was trailing a leader a load of line & a bunch of branches, & had smashed up a fellow member the night before . Managed to land it somehow ...also an upper 30 . If I was to target them especially bigger ones , i would step up . otherwise I reckon over time your leave a lot of trailing cat fish .

  7. We have one Cat in our lake that goes "about 90". A guy locked into it the other week, had it on for 4 hours before finally getting snapped up. He was using carp gear (it picked up his bright yellow pop up!!) and didn't stand a chance of stopping it. Apparently it holed up under the bank and wouldn't shift. When it did eventually decide to get going again it snapped him up with ease. I personally detest Catfish. One of the ugliest fish to grace our waters and I wouldn't go out of my way to deliberately fish for them. But if I did target that old girl in our lake, I'd be investing in a "proper" Cat rod and some heavy duty (40lb) line. Some might see that as "overkill" but if I hooked into that fish, any thoughts of "finesse" would go out the window. You've got to be as brutal with them as they are with you.

    Dogs and fishing

You sure itā€™s a frenchie smufter? That description couldnā€™t be further away from my frenchie šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚ mines a little... (I best stop in my tracks I donā€™t want a ban)

    Dogs and fishing

I've just introduced a mate of mine to White Cottage, and he has a Frenchie as a bivvy buddy. He bought him along for a 72 hour session the other week, what an absolute corker of a dog. So well behaved, superb temperament and great character. Steve, our bailiff, has a beautiful Collie named Jess. She's a right character, always wanting you to throw sticks for her, and if you do it the once, she won't leave you alone! She can hear a sausage roll being unwrapped from 300 yards away too!! I'd love a dog to take with me, but with the wife and I both working full time it rules it out for a few more years.
