Well I really enjoyed it. Perhaps a few time many "know what I mean?" and "mate" but I can forgive Tel for that. The videography and production are top notch and Tel can certainly tell a story.

Fair comment, deff better than some 'urban banx (sic)' thing, or a lot of just tackle promo videos βΉοΈ. Mind you, as someone who watched 'Harefield Hauling' many years ago perhaps my age is starting to show! π

So confused on what strength or diameter line to pick.
emmcee replied to terrance smith's topic in UK Carp Fishing
How big is the lake, do you need to cast long distances? If the answer is no to the above then I'd be on 15lb, 18lb or 20lb mainline (though you should still be able to cast a fair way with either breaking strain line). You should be looking at a mainline that is known for being abrasion resistant especially with the presence of lily's, reed beds and tree over hangs etc as the carp will want to get into these if you hook them. Hooklinks are personal choices and should really be determined by what the lake bed is like, gravel, silt, clay etc, suit your hooklink to whichever you're fishing over. As for the breaking strain, most are between 15lb to 25lb I'd say and once again with the lily's etc I'd go on the heavier side personally. - Yesterday

Hello, I have decided to finally buy my own equipment for fishing and I have no idea what line lb to pick or what hooklink strength to pick, I decided on: Shimano Sienna 4000 Daiwa black widow 12ft 2.75lb test semi fixed lead clip rig + hair rig size 8 barbless hooks Some sort of daiwa sensor for the line. The thing is that I have absolutely no idea on what lb mainline to get or hooklink, this is the place I will be fishing (mono mainline only): "varying depths around the lake from 3ft to 7ft, Lily pads, overhanging trees and reed beds" "This is a general course lake, it has carp to 29lb 14oz, pike to mid doubles, bream, tench, roach, rudd and a few crucians" Any help and advice would be appreciated.

In the Great Lakes and tributary rivers 20lbs common carp is the average size and they school in large numbers. There are many 40lbs carp. As you mentioned, carp fishing in Canada is not popular like in the UK and EU. A large sports chain store called SAIL is clearing out all of the Blax Carp Spirit inventory due to lack turnover. Canadians think of carp as garbage fish and turn their noses up at them. Canadians prefer to fish for walleye, bass and muskellunge in Ontario. Anyway, I am looking forward to catching some nice one's shortly Enjoy your day, Gents! CZ -
Nash Titan T1 Camo Pro vs Fox Frontier XD Camo
B33TR00T replied to B33TR00T's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Just been and had a look at a mates XD set up on a club lake, I took my T1 Camo Pro and pegged it all out properly side by side β¦ now feeling confident in the decision, thereβs no real way to tell about the build quality, however in terms of the other points, regarding packdown size, superior peak height and door height on the T1, and that the extra height towards the back on the XD is practically uselessβ¦ that all checks out, Iβm absolutely certain that the T1 is the better bivvy - substantially. β¦ thereβs the packdown side by side - things to note from this picture is that the XD is still factory packed, inside the bag is also a factory packed vapour peak, infil panel, mozzy mesh, and groundsheet, but no inner dome. β¦ the T1 Pro Camo has been unpacked from its factory packing, and packed away by me with the inner dome and infil panel still attached, (and a HD groundsheet which is not attached, but is inside the bag) β¦ Iβm assuming that the XD bag would be a lot bulkier if it and its addons were all unravelled from their factory packing and repacked by me, with addons attached. Just also noticed that I mistakenly wrote in title that was this XD Camo vs T1 Camo Pro, but the XD is not Camo, brain fart but not that it matters as the XD and XD Camo share technical specs. -

My first βbivvyβ was the old Shakespeare cypry dome. bought it on cheque spread from Penge angling. wouldn't like to think how much that was in todays money. -
I my opinion split shot on any line for carp is a no no if you want to weight s thank you use the tungsten weight that will slide of if need to

Ahh,yes the good ol Apotheosis, apparently meaning closer to God, or similar ..I never had one Nick ..,but many people I knew did ,I thought the fibre glass version was better than the aero grade alloy poles ,I well remember another chap virtually sweating trying to get those alloy poles to 'clip in ' .. Didn't get no Wrasse, big bull in field ,with attitude, so another time .. I did a list once of the ones I've had ,and thought what a waste of money chasing a rainbow π.. I also use a 50 brolly and wrap .. Big pond ,just past those bovine..! -

That sounds a fantastic experience Yonny.. And welcome to the forum to the Canadian chap. .

Oh Mate, please don't. From the original umbrella tent, Fox Jekk shelter overwrap to a couple of Fox EasyDomes, Rod Hutchinson Apotheosis, JRC Roamer Dome, Nash Hurricane Outlaw Dome and overwrap, TFG Hardcore, TFG Oval and overwrap, then the current Rod Hutchinson Hybrid Cabrio Brolly system and Extension. Actually, it's not that many over 40years! I know I killed a few due to weather, the JRC poles delaminated, and I did manage to drop one of the Hybrids on a lit stove. I thought I used and abused my gear, but looking and thinking through that list it is likely that most died of regular use, or I changed due to circumstances. In fact the Apotheosis I gave to my kids to use in the garden. Strangely enough of all of them I returned to the brolly and overwrap, and I would happily go back to the Jekk overwrap over a 50inch brolly. As much as I love a comfortable bivvy, the size and weight of the pramhood or external spoke system puts me off, so I very much prefer the umbrella system.

I was in Kingston Ontario not long ago. The carp fishing over there looks like it could be amazing. I saw carp in several spots during my trip from right down in the marina to hidden away in secluded spots. At one point we went kayaking on Lake Ontario and I found carp milling about by an island. I found a dead carp which with a good size too - at least 20 lb+. I didn't spot one carp angler in all my trip!

It definitely comes down to personal choice ..I'm not actually sure how many shelters or bivvys I've owned ,all I can say ,is its a lot !!,an ,embarrassing amount ,of money I've probably wasted looking for the 'one'... I've come down to this ,tempest 100t ,no frills ,groundsheet is homemade superlight, and infil door ,it's got a nice bit of height to it ,and a pair of whychwood mhr 50 brollies ,and the wrap for ,days ,carping ,perching or a cooking tent ,for camping/ outdoor stuff..and ideal for tight swims on some of the wheals I fish 'wheal means ,mine'clay pit.. I've also got a speedflex pop up bivvy ,but I'll probs move it on ,bit low,it is...all my kit is mega minimal, and hardly ever changed around ,it's just bivvys, that kind of disrupt the flo ...I've got to control it,ha,ha... I'm currently typing this on the edge of a cliff,'stealth camping' within 30 ft of a very long way down π..wrassing tomorrow.. -

Welcome to carp.com -
I went somewhere backalong, that the porta loo was sooo bad I had to 'go' somewhere else ,but that's what inspired me if you will to get a folding toilet .. In past times,I use a folding bushcraft shovel to bury any doo,doo..and place a stick upright for future note..however most places I fish are quite remote ..but ,I've upped my game a bit ...in that department ..so I feel quite posh now ...
