  1. Past hour
  2. There are so many of them out and about now, definitely they are not rare or endangered.. When there is evidence suggesting, males are tolerating other males in their ranges ,then it could be said, rewilding them has failed as its now out of kilter with the nature available to them ... I know otters raid people's koi ponds to get food ..
  3. Today
  4. Was greeted at my swim by this: Adult male, body right of path, head left, been chewed off, no signs of actually eating anything. This is one of 3 I've spotted around the lake this spring. The more of this I see the less I understand and have sympathy for our MR O. Looking more and more like a senseless killing machine to me! Oh and the female was looking around for her mate - heartbreaking. πŸ˜ͺ
  5. Two fish out this morning , Nige & mick both landing mid twenty fish. So great start 😎
  6. I'd be livid! I'd be buzzing 🀣
  7. Yesterday
  8. Thanks mate πŸ‘
  9. Good luck mate, hope you catch a few.
  10. Evening gents, well I'm out fishing. Sudden change of venue over the weekend as we had been double booked at churn ! We've ended up at the woolpack lake 4 exclusive, so considering it was so last minute not ended up to bad bit tight for 4 of us but its ok . Fingers crossed
  11. Catching is a bonus
  12. I fished main lake Sunday and blanked again but i enjoyed every minute and im starting to get liners/false takes, had a few fish cruising over the area i had my baits in, now the weather has improved i dont really care if i catch or not, its just cracking place to be
  13. The one thing that I do feel is that different anglers have different references on big or small waters, it may even be water shape. On Taverham Mills and Barham B-pit which are both around 20acres, I never thought of as big, whereas the 12acre Weybread Number 1 I did. Weybread was more an open water where the other lakes were totally irregularly shaped, bays, points and peninsulas with no real long casting. I did really struggle on Weybread, it was the first water I was competing against other anglers including Jim Shelley, for a swim, and the 'team baiting'. Weekends were manic, and that at the time was my fishing time. As @yonny puts it, I was out of my depth, but I did catch my first 20lb carp, a fully scaled. The next year I went back to Taverham Mills and started catching on a decent bait. I started walking and locating, watching and learning. While I was catching far more, I didn't have another 20lb carp until 1995. I definitely class Ardleigh Reservoir and Alton Water as big, 160 and 475 acres respectively, as I do Nazeing Meads Central 40acres and South at 20acres which are connected by a bridged channel.
  14. I spent the afternoon and evening on the beach at Felixstowe Saturday, no thornies, but did manage a couple of doggies and whiting. That is a decent size ray for your lad, sizeable across the wings. Bet they were like trying to pull the plug out...
  15. Last week
  16. Not carp exactly but…
  17. Early morning rod shot
  18. A busy day on a club water today... 5 fish in 6 hours... a nice day in the sun with a bit of action ... met at home by SWMBO with a cold beer... heaven...πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸΊ
  19. Had 5 today, 2 mirrors and 3 commons... On snowman rigs with a small bag of pellets with a dip of Manilla glug
  20. Always there camping, never catches anything either, most of the water out there has pads just under the surface and is pretty unfishable. Back in the rat/wasp den now, wasps have stopped being so mental and settled into building the nest, even one of the rats went out early today because of the noisy neighbours (Not me BTW)
  21. Awesome. Made my day that has fells πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. B B

    New purchases

    Bits and bobs
  23. I had 90% of my carp on the syndicate in the summer all on adjustable zigs using 12lb hook lengths and 10ft 3.5 rods , got to use tbe drag sensibly and with soft hands. But as Iv said elsewhere in hindsight they were to stiff and il be in the market for something slightly lighter
  24. Best of luck 🀞
  25. If there was a carp god he’d be looking out for the carp not us πŸ€”
  26. You could do with 6 rods in that swim looks so much to go for, I see the dude with the big bivvy is back… oh and nice reel 😎
  27. Wasp Exile rod shot.
  28. Struggles pah! If I don't catch the biggun after this , there is no carp god. Lost 2 to cut offs, bivvied up next to a rats nest, caught a 12oz rudd on a zig, managed to get the extra night, went to the shops, was having a look round the lake, when I came back thousands of wasps are flying round the same rat tree. I've taken a rod, net, mat and the hand of god baiting pole and I'm currently perched on a boat. If it wasn't fishing I would have quit, but it beats a day at work so I will enjoy it anyway. There is still time for my luck to change.
