The only putty I will use is still Kryston Heavy Metal. I have not found a good enough replacement. I've checked the new Heavy Metal, it is the same as the original, but as @Golden Paws has said, putty can get misshapen and in the hot weather in the UK at the moment, or Signal crayfish will pinch and eat it, (and tungsten loaded rig and anti-tangle tubing). Your alternatives look good, and as long as they work. I use match or pole anglers olivettes, either with the hole through the middle or fixed with tubing, lock and slide, usually Drennan.

I stay in North Texas, some people refer it the beginning of tornado alley there's days. So it can be rough

https://esp-carpgear.com/product/balance-beads/ I've pretty much given up rig putty. I've lost too much and it doesn't seem to keep it's shape. I've been using ESP tungsten balance beads for quite a few years and can't see myself ever going back. The photo is a Flipper rig (the bottom bit of shrink tube pushes to the bend of the hook) and my bait has been nibbled away by roach or bream but the bead is on a Combi rig and pushes into the knot and pretty much stays there. Its dead easy to reuse it as well, just push it onto a small baiting needle.

I sold my ATT’s alarms as I found in daylight it was hard to see the underlit wheel led so only knew which rod had the take by the dangling bit indicator moving. Now use Fox alarms with dual LEDs on the ears and a lot more visible

There's plenty of alternatives to putty and yours looks like an acceptable solution, but I'd be asking why it's disappearing in the first place. Are you fishing rivers with big flow? Wind on a lake shouldn't be enough to remove putty. Are there crayfish in the waters you fish?

Hey yall, thanks in advance Here's my problem, recently it's been very windy so the waters have been quiet rough. well after an hour i noticed my dark matter putty was gone from all 3 of my rigs. Fortunately i had a few dropshots, and after my session I still lost one. I'm on disabilitity money is tight and i can't be buying that expensive putty all the time, or at all it was a bday gift among other items. Thinking it through, I came up with this idea to shrinkwrap dropshots so I wont lose them again. I"m still learning about carp fishing, I use boilies mainly. Can this work ? if there's anythinmg i can do to make them work or jsut completely forget about this idea thanks again

A 31lb 12oz mirror from the weekend. Also managed a 25-4 and 18-10. After a windy start on Friday, it got really hot but managed a bite on all 3 rods by boating out about 20 Creamino boiles and a bit of pellet every 3 hours tight to an Island.

I've got a few new books, I only wanted From The Bivvy, Carp Season and More from the Bivvy 3, but for the price I ended up getting Tim Paisley's Carp Fishing, Carp Amid The Storm and More From the Bivvy. If I put the books I already have back on the site I may end up making something back.

Helicopter setup with either a wafter or popup. I would use the lightest lead you can get away with. With a heli setup it will pull the lead down into it but will leave your rig above 👍

Welcome to carp.com. The simple answer is fish where the fish feed, and that may be in the mud or silt. Something else that may be worthwhile is fishing floating baits, as simple as attaching a piece of bread or floating dog biscuit to a hook, putting a few free offerings in and getting your bait amongst them. Surface or floater fishing is a science in itself, and there are plenty of threads on here that may help. I'm not sure where you are based, so my advice is relevant to the UK, but should work everywhere. I first fished a farm pond I think 40+ years ago, and it was as simple as putting in a few grains of sweetcorn, and fishing the lift float method over it. If you bait up in a few spots with sweetcorn and pellets then you could get a few spots for fishing. It is still a way I fish now, even on some waters that are heavily carp fished with anglers and rods sat on the buzzers. First thing in the morning, or just going into dark. For carp fishing I would use a 15lb mainline in weedy waters. Other people will give other advice, chod rig, helicopter rig, long hooklink, paternoster or lead link, and all are right. It works for them.

I am new to this site. The carp body of water I fish is heavy with milfoil. The open spots are soft mud (Muck) That is the bad. The good is that 20 pound carp are seen daily swimming around in this private farm pond. What is the best way to rig that will prevent the bait from diapering in the mud? I am sure this has been addressed in the past. But as I said, I am new here.Thanks

Believe it or not I can possibly beat that 😅 I have a full size faux taxidermy carving of the ex record carp, Two Tone, fully mounted in mahogany case. The centrepiece of my fishing room. There's a funny story that comes with it too. I came across it on ebay. It was advertised as a carving so clearly not the actual stuffed fish. I bought it, knowing full well it wasn't real, for the fishing room and thought I'd see if I could find some info on it. I posted it on the old Anglers Forum but no-one could tell me anything about it. But, the Anglers Mail got in touch and asked to do an article on it. Me being me, I told them I don't really want to be in a magazine, and turned them down. So rather than just leave it.... they made a story up. They published an article, using the picture I'd posted on the Anglers Forum, that said the buyer had purchased it thinking it was the real thing i.e. the actual stuffed Two-Tone. The cheeky gits. Naturally, I went back to them and called them scum of the earth A) for making the story up, and B) for stealing my photo. Needless to say they never replied. This was maybe 10 years ago but the story was still available online not long ago. I just Googled it and found the image but the link no longer works.

I've got 2 carp landing nets: a Fox Warrior net which has had the mesh replaced a few times and a Rod Hutchinson Sceptre net, both in 42inch. I've spent more replacing the meshes over the years than the landing net originally cost. For years I lived with just one, but a few years ago came up with the idea of one on each side of the swim, so I could always reach one without, in theory of stepping around the rods to grab it. The 2 faults, they don't match, not that I really worry, and the second is many runs now seem to come on the middle rod... I can't remember who it was by, but the original Springlock mechanism landing net I do miss. I borrowed one for a while back in the early 2000's when I had a load of gear stolen.
