Personally Iβd use it neat to soak in to them but I donβt do washed out type baits. I use enough for the boilies to soak in, but stay firm. Basically they just get heavier. This way you can still stick them out. elmo was right on ratios. Use the leftover water, frozen for next time or to add to pellet/spod mixes. I see so many anglers just tip it away. Crazy.

I usually just chuck some in with the water tbh, I quite like the liquid to be thinner as it soaks through the bait more. I would use more than a capful, maybe like 25% hydro 25% squid brand and 50% water something like that anyway. Might be less that seems OK , you can add whatever you like though

Right under the trees it's been bearable, except between 4 and 8. Sky has been swimming every day as we walk around to keep cool. I'm up in the shallows, but until this morning I hadn't seen a thing. The deep end is wall to wall with thick weed and is unfishable. The weed is what had drifted, so I was able to net it out. It left me enough room to have the rods over the top. -

Good grief , Nick , did you drag that humungus pile of weed out of the lake ? . How did you manage with the heat of Monday , and Tuesday ? . I should be fishing tomorrow in the relative cool , but to fish in the deepest part of the lake , or the shallows ? π

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
salokcinnodrog replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Ooh, alarm ears! I'd forgotten about them. There were two types that you could add to your Optonics: the fixed ears or the moveable ones. I had the moveable ones so I could put my Optonics in the box at the end of the session. I had painted the fronts white so I could see them. I also remember the multi-pin jack plug sounder box that Efgeeco made. Here is a pinched picture The funny thing is that originally Dellareed recommended Del Romang to convert them as far as I can remember, then changed their minds and took it to court. Catchum, Rod Hutchinson's original bait company! Seafoodblend, probably one of the first fishmeal baits, and very effective. -

When I set up on Monday it was absolutely scorching, but was able to get positioned in as much shade as possible. Well back from the water, and positioned so we only get the full sun from 4 until 8pm. I say well back from the water, when the lake is full, this spot is actually underwater. -

Finding this post super interesting! I have recently started glugging pellets with fish sauce, got a bit bucket that i have been adding fish sauce to every few days for probably near a month now so they are about ready. What i do want some advice on if possible is Squid hydro liquid, I have just brought some from Bacarel, for some reason i expected it to be thick which it isnt, so im just wondering how to use this as a boilie soak, more the ratios. The plan is (or usually is) to pre soak the boilies in water before i go, usually in salt, if im adding the squid hydro should i just be adding it to the water? is a cap full enough or should i be adding a fair bit? Any advice welcome! THANKS all.

Not sure I expected so many posts on this tbh, but pleased it has sparked reaction π Agree with salokcinnodrog, roller wheels are based on the original optonics, I still have two somewhere that were linked (by a cable) to a BiTech Viper sounder box., used to use them so many years ago on Horseshoe Lake! Just as an aside, the Catchum catalogue, very long gone now, used to advertise converting an optonic to a Delkim conversion, but sadly when I wanted to have it done they couldn't because of legal reasons.

New ATTs alarms with speaker?

What amuses me is that roller wheel alarms are all based on the original Optonics if you think about it. A 2 or 4 vane (or more if you had some craft skills) wheel breaking a beam of light. It is effective when used in conjunction with an indicator keeping the line taut and on the wheel. Technology may have advanced, it may now be magnets turning past a detector, but it is still a roller wheel. It was Delkim who launched the vibration sensing ST's, plug out to a wired receiver and then the TXi with wireless receiver, although they and Les Bamford had done conversions to a reed switch wheel on the original Dellareed Optonics. There were other attempts at vibration sensing, Bitech Viper. I think that it was a 'law' change in the 1990's that saw radio channels able to be used for wireless signals, although I may be wrong, but I do remember many radio stations switched or also transmitted from AM, or MW and LW, to FM. As for alarms, as I have mentioned, on a day session I prefer to hear the alarms themselves, whereas at night I need and use the receiver. Now that means that, to me, there is a market for both as not every angler will fish nights, doesn't want or need a sounder or receiver box. A long way away from being bivvied up as close as you could possibly get to the rods on the original alarms that made hardly any noise. -

Sorry, wrong choice of words really βΉοΈ, I just don't actually think it is advancement over the current ATTs range.

Fox Mini Micron X - Should I?

Theyβve just put a video on social media of someoneβs delks surviving a garage fire. -
It was discontinued because they bough the TLB+ out. I strongly suspect the TLB+ will be discontinued when the new ATT comes out. Not sure I follow you here. I'm talking about interest in the product from anglers. Not websites or advertising. Loads of guys on the bank are keeping an eye this. Why would you hope the product doesn't succeed?

Not sure about 'no brainer' π. The TLB had a speaker and they discontinued it, not sure it needed a reciever to actually make a run tone tho?? As for loads of interest, well only thing I dug up was that youtube vid I posted ages ago, nothing on theirweb site lol Anyway, each to his own, I cannot see this being a winner, and in an odd way I hope it isn't...... just stick to the old skool stuff a lot of us old gits love about ATTs
-
I can guarantee you right now that they will sell. They've drummed up loads of interest. It is a complete no-brainer to offer one with a speaker. For every guy that prefers the speakerless version, there's one that prefers a speaker. It's a win-win for them to offer both. Their only other remote alarm is based on a design that's nearly 30 years old (TLB+), and even that needs the ATT receiver.
-
Ian. Totally agree, I will never change from my original ATTs alarms, tbh I just wonder how these 'improved' ones will actually sell? Oh hold on a minute 'cr*pology' will no doubt do the usual rave review when they come out π It wont boost any sales tho imo. Don't change ATTs, I have no intention to change mine π
-
I was talking to someone yesterday and he just came back from a week in France he actually witnessed a delkim melting in the heat lol that one definitely wonβt be waterproof

They are the the basic ( no receiver ) but for us day session anglers they are perfect. You can also select led colour in the settings

Blimey they were about that price 30 years back - that is great value π -
I donβt think you can fault the Fox Micron range. They just work and the new basic ones are perfect value for money Β£25 each ( why pay more ) !

I've seen people moaning about the new ones still, wouldn't touch with a barge pole tbh -

Well done lads on the June captures π

I won't be changing over. When I bought mine the attraction was that if I had a take only I would know, not every angler within earshot. I like silent heads and don't want or need speakers. Ian.

The only putty I will use is still Kryston Heavy Metal. I have not found a good enough replacement. I've checked the new Heavy Metal, it is the same as the original, but as @Golden Paws has said, putty can get misshapen and in the hot weather in the UK at the moment, or Signal crayfish will pinch and eat it, (and tungsten loaded rig and anti-tangle tubing). Your alternatives look good, and as long as they work. I use match or pole anglers olivettes, either with the hole through the middle or fixed with tubing, lock and slide, usually Drennan.
