  2. How do you keep pests out? Ie. Cats, birds and the like. Ive noticed a few animals that'd take them given half a chance. Im trying these floating hexagons
  3. Today i got a Sonik 13ft power float road with a 1.5lb tc rating, i have not owned a nice float rod for a long time, have to say its a lovely rod, well made and does indeed have a lot of backbone for larger fish, very pleased with it also it was a good price £40 new delivered
  4. Here is a better bait idea and less risky, less grisly take a kilo of dried hemp seed soak for 24 hours in a large tub of COLD water, bring to boil for about 5 minutes and spod out on fishing spot, the hemp releases natural oils and feeding stimulates to draw carp into location
  5. Not that it is important, but there was links to the Bait Tactics channel and video in there 😄
  6. Persevere. Koi will generally be slow to accept any new foods (although mine loved boilies straight away too 😅). Once they're used to it, they'll be fine. I chatted with a koi keeping mate about my koi's reluctance to eat the dried shrimp/silkworm and he said they'd take a while to get onto it. They have done now... they love them all of a sudden.
  7. So, they dont appear that 8nterested in these pellets atm. They have taken a few, but I end up taking uneaten ones back out?? They do however seem to like boilie crumb, which I tried this morning. Should I keep feeding them crumb, or persevere with the pellets?

    May catch report

Quick night on the local day ticket on Friday. Managed to get on them easily enough but a bit disappointed to just catch the one. I put a bucket of bait out about 30 yards in front of me and got continuous liners on it from about 9pm until 3am. Bizarrely, the only rod to go was the one chucked under the bush in the near margin. I can only assume my hinges were not the one..... should have put bottom baits out. Still, better than a blank and a very pretty little patchy common. I'll not get out again until the end of June which is a killer.
  9. I remember baulking at 20 quid..... then 30...... I agree 40 notes just disappears as soon as you walk into the tackle shop.
  10. Yesterday
  11. I had no bass, but 11 doggies on Friday night. Mine are Daiwa 7HT's on a 12ft6in Daiwa Sandstorm and a 12ft6in Daiwa SeaHunter Z.
  12. something a bit different, Leeda Icon Elite Match rods and Daiwa 7HT multipliers, hunting bass at 5am! had a nice brace of bass, best going 4lb. (3 doggies too 🙄)
  13. a nice break in the hail, from last week, broke out the “lightweight” kit, 11ft 2 1/4tc shimano Areo rods, okuma barbarian 040 reels, 10lb line.
  14. Can always use the pellet band a tight hair as well so use anything pull it through the bait and use a piece of grass as a stop not a fool proof method but if something turns up in the swim it’s quickly doable.
  15. If they had spawned and dropped a bit you know that you can trust his estimates on fish sizes in the water. I have seen the stress of a carp with the blood vessels and blood pressure increasing after capture. I don't know if you can remember it the 29lb fish I had from the syndicate has a 'birthmark' of blood vessels near the pectoral and right gill, it goes red during capture and stress. I've seen it in other fish as well.
  16. Last week
  17. I made the standard anglers mistake of going into Birds tackle shop today, ended up spending £40 on bits, more Gardner Incizors, Running lead systems, quick lead clips, another pair of forceps, a few Sea fishing hooks, squid and crushed hemp. I really should make a list of stuff I need rather than trying to remember my way round fresh and saltwater tackle boxes. It looks like the standard tackle shop spend is now £40 for 'odds and sods'.
  18. kind of fishing, i spotted a 60,000ma powerbank on fleabay for little money £16.79 posted and thought, lets try it, good for camping trips and fishing trips to charge mobile and vape also has a light on it
  19. I have to agree with your take on the bailiffs at Horseshoe. They seem to revel in being important, some to a greater degree than others. I've fished the water on many occasions but never really felt welcome there. Ian.
  20. When I reached the age of 70 I thought I'd better start acting like a grown up. Didn't like it so I've gone back to being a pillock. Far happier now. Ian.
  21. I told you why it was removed:
  22. Dumbbell boilies? Mixers for surface fishing? Circle punched meat or pepperami?
  23. Okay guys other than pellets what bait can i use in pellet bands, these are the hook to nylon with a hair ending in small latex band just putting this out there for idea`s using a power float rod for carp to mid doubles
  24. Something needs to be put in place, the spam is getting pretty bad
  25. That's great to limit account creation, but can you set new users to moderated (all posts need to be approved by a modertor). That may be the only way to stop the current issues. It looks like the spammers have found a new way to hit the forum en-mass.
  26. Hi all, not been around for a while. I am looking for a larger bivvy for longer sessions and potential France in the coming years. However it wont be used a huge amount as i prefer my smaller one for short sessions. Anyway i have found a Nash Titan 2 for sale 2nd hand and it seems OK. However i am not familiar with it as i think its quite old. I like the look of it as its quite high and will allow me to stand up in it, i am quite old so back pain on longer sessions is commonplace. Anyway does anyone have any info about it as i am struggling to fund anything online. It odnt seem to have any ventilation panels as far as i can see.
  27. I had a visit from the EA about a month ago on a commercial miles out in the sticks, the first time I've seen them in over 30 years. At least a few years ago you used to get a printed licence with a David Miller painting that softened the blow a bit, now it's all done virtually. Mind you, the state of the Royal Mail, it probably wouldn't have turned up anyway!
  28. I spent some time on there late 80's, flitting between summer and winter bays, the attached photo was summer point, this was also when I became aware of tiger nut's, having been mostly using chick peas until then, the carp went mad for tigers so I made the most of it, getting hold of them wasn't easy though, a non fishing shop in Swindon refused to sell any to me as they knew I was using them as bait..! Good times then though, I seem to remember some of the guys talking about an angler there fishing the winter bay near all the snags (now long gone) called John Allen, who'd recently had that 200lb cat from the Ebro..
