framey
My daily walk consists of walking around my local park lake I usually see a few fish starting around now the algae has been turning over now for about 10 days but today I had to stop and double check.. the water is clearing up nicely enough at the bottom half of the lake for me to see fish and today I saw the biggest fish that I have seen in there it’s not huge probably estimate between 15/18 lb or so but it’s a mirror and it’s 2 tone front half dark chestnut brown and the back half lighter shades shame it is no fishing lol.. I'm going to start taking a few pellets on my walk I think and then hopefully get a couple of videos of it yonny and Golden Paws

framey
Fished it when I was a kid, my 2nd fish caught from there.first was from the river that fed it and diverted back into it from the lakes I was 7 My cousins and I used to walk the mile and a half on our own with no adults.it was a different time back in 76 ,there were no fishing signs then …now they have gone and just no cycling signs Spool of line hand line wrapped around the hand and “touch ledgering”with free lined bread on a size 12 aitkin hook to nylon remember the white grease proof paper bags they came in? Those hooks lol. loads of roach were always caught and still get “that smell”in my nostrils when I think about them, no nets ever just in case we had to leg it when the Parkie came around lol. The halcyon days of no worries and a stress free life, a bottle of water and a jam sandwich to eat and drink at the most, but hardly ever ate as the sandwich was used when the couple of slices of plain bread didn’t work. when we had enough walk around to the river side of the lake and jump in and cool down. unfortunately, the river is now just choked up with silt and about a foot deep mainly but they are planning to spend some money on it. Re route the water course back to how it used to be before the lake and then re work the lake Tempted ??? everyday in the summer we then “progressed”to a rod and line and used the same leg it technique at another park lake in Welwyn garden city. I even ponced some money of a copper for the bus fair to get me back to St Albans!! sheesh… how my parents never got Nicked for neglect is beyond me.I was only about 10-11 that time Not “guested” properly since those days though 😂😂😂😂 Edited March 24, 2022 by framey salokcinnodrog and B B

Carpbell_ll
no such thing as no fishing on public acces waters, those friends of the park groups can make the suggestion can even put signs up, but you can fish it with a EA rod licence. they tried to end angling on the swanswell in cov, i burned a local councillor on FB he was gutted powerless fool. Me 🤣 So you never know your luck it never hurts to ask . failing that I’d just guest it quietly of a night 😉 salokcinnodrog
Jone5y
I had to take a detour past a lake on a nature reserve yesterday because a section of the lake I was intending to look at was closed for nesting birds. I decided I would sit in the bird hide which overlooks the lake and watch for a bit. My rustiness for carp angling was very noticeable because I kept mistaking pond skaters for carp basking like an idiot. However, eventually I saw what I thought might be a fish so I decided to shin about 20 feet up a tree to have a look - initially I tried to climb on the roof of the bird hide but the plastic roofing wasn't very strong and my foot nearly went through it. Sure enough, there was a carp skirting the reeds and heading straight to the bird hide. Then another joined and I was faced with the prospect of a couple of carp swimming around a lake which is very much no fishing and has no signs of activity other than an active log sheet in the bird hide. Not one to be deterred, I decided to hack my way through the undergrowth around the end of the lake furthest from the bird hide. However, I wasn't doing this because I solely wanted to find more fish. I wanted to find the positions of the lake which the bird hide cannot see. I was also looking for places to bury/stash gear so that I don't have to take much with me when I finally decide to poach the lake. There's nothing those crusty old farts with binoculars can do about it. My advice to you would be to adopt the same mindset as me. Channel that childhood mischief you almost certainly once had and fish it regardless of what some chump with a clipboard says. Treat it like a military operation. Gaffa tap some knackered old rods and reels high in large trees, and dig out holes to stash gear in and then put a false lid on it. Tie bricks to some old stainless and submerge it in the margins/reed beds. I would recommend that you phone the council or whoever own it and ask when the work parties or volunteer days are so that you can avoid fishing during this period. Learn to speak broken English in a foreign language so that you can pretend you couldn't read the "NO FISHING" sign properly. Do anything other than not fishing the lake. You clearly want to else you wouldn't have made this thread. Time to grow a pair and do it. What's the worst that can happen? welder, muftyboy and yonny
