  1. not saying waters shouldn't close for spawning but it's a bit misleading they will be spawning on and off till the end of summer it would be better to close pegs as and when needed through out the summer it might cut down on the rush to get out as much as possible in early summer.
  2. I just got the mk2 2021, distance in one journey is no longer a problem, I'm glad i went with the single wheel load it up right and there is very nearly no weight on the handles, i no longer dread packing up and lugging everything back to the car. the add on bags are well worth it just need the side bar bags and i will not need to take any kind of carry bag other than rods and bivvy, whish i had got one years ago three to four trip with the gear when i was taking the dog and used my unbranded folding trolley, it is made from very cheap steel so the more you put on the more it loads the weight onto the handles due to the frame flexing when you lift, got two wheels on the front, give it the nephew next time i call round, he won't be getting my old fox mx microns though,
  3. The flying back leads where much better at line control, i have fox ones bought them for this water but it wa too weedy back then, Still no fish and to be honest it should be a few by now I'm on the fish the fish are feeding in my swim all my gear is neat simple and fishing on the right spot plus the fish are coming out R had six out nice guy very old style approach, for me it is either fussy fish don't like my hook baits some are a few years old, cross contamination from my tobacco e liquid, or just some serious bad luck.
  4. the lake I'm mainly having problems with is pretty unusual in how the lake bed lies the side you fish from is a raised bar with margins behind it but it is that big of a bar you would think it is the lake edge, as it runs out from the peg it drops away fast a rod length out in most pegs will be up to the limit for chest waders, as it gets out to the middle and right up to the far margins, in places the depths are around 7 to twelve foot deep same again at the far side margins are false its anther chain of long island bars the true shallow margins are behind the island chain there are ledges in front of the island chain that are around 3-4 foot deep , so when you put a rig on a shallowish ledge, the line runs back to the rod across a fair few dips and raises. rig position and line lay is everything on that water.
  5. rod tips, sometimes I think due to the bottom of the lake I mainly fish, would it be better to keep the rods high up lifting as much line as possible so there is more direct contact to the lead as opposed to the line running across the bottom which is very uneven, also the dreaded back lead it is nice to use them but are they more of a hindrance when it comes bite registration? soz about the lack of caps locks my lap top key pad is worn out.
  6. i will get out one more time before a break the lake I'm fishing stays colder for longer into the summer than most, at the end of the month i ill jump on a runs water for a few days maybe. mallard at stanwicks or some place similar.
  7. not yet but it is in the pipeline angling was better off without the public interest, i doubt you tube will have angling in mind as it is a legal activity, if you want a good example on how angling could go look at ratting or lamping both have a purpose but that is what will be removed, the crazy people will try to stretch it to include dogs fetching sticks if they could, there are already laws in the uk that could ban angling if enforced on anglers.
  8. good start would be not to listen to anything I post bet I'm the only member on my lakes to have not had a fish this year
  9. got some strange rules wonder what sort of angler they have had in to have a rule for untoward activities what ever those are must be a Leicester thing looks nice though fair price for these days as well, bit annoyed by the way night fishing prices are going.
  10. mate it's no joke after my dog went walk about on stanwicks they banned dogs a few months later, due to covid? the amount of people that was winging when i recalled the the dog was building? all i will say is when you are at stanies, don't tell anyone if you have had a fish and most of all don't tell when leaving every time on mallard it ended up with me trying to pack away and several anglers trying to set up and that is not due to a lack of pegs during this i lost track of which way the dog went, if i would of ran around looking for him he would not of got a bearing on where i was so things got loud real loud,
  11. don't worry the more people that use them the more places will ban them, gimmie an afternoon on any lake with one and that would be that for everyone in no time
  12. Sometimes when you can't find a hole in the weed is to make one, or fish on top of the weed if it is silk weed, get some vicious takes on a chod rig fished up in the silk weed.
  13. Probably will get a boat same for the deeper seems to be a major part of most anglers fishing these day, a guy at the lakes was just talking about the one you have, got everything on it including a camera.
  14. Nice, are Bait boats easy to use they look it, I know the more expensive ones are silent running do you think the sound of a louder one would be a problem.
  15. just a bit, time before last i had the fish tails up on one rod happily munching away, still can't get my head round how that never turned into a run know the lake fairly well just too much second guessing where the fish will move next.
  16. i approached my water with a total lack of respect this year, thought i would start at the first swim and fish it till i had one, then move to the next peg, three sessions in and I'm still to have one, change of plan.
  17. like you say drones in the lake is bound to happen, keep the drone for work plus it would depend on the lakes think a lot have already banned drones, unless you get special permission.
  18. think the deeper would be better the deeper start looks good for fish finding and basic bottom structure the next models up do a lot more, really thinking of getting one may as well all the lakes i fish are on the site mapped out just about everyone has one on the lakes so sod it i'm getting one, one day lol.
  19. calm down last years uptake in anglers is dropping off, the amount of spanking new used tackle going up for sale is starting to pick up, all around a year old and way too far into the kind of tackle a very dedicated long-time angler would buy, just seen a brand new looking power porter bought last year used twice, only wants 800 for it, ha ha i'd put the extra hundred on top and buy new, used prices are between 30 to 50 percent retail value, go out doors was packed yesterday with people buying camping gear. don't think the lakes will be as busy this mid summer.
  20. worst bit about taking a dog on every session for over ten years is when they pop their clogs, mine went Tuesday afternoon, such a good dog no drama or trips to the vet which i don't do out of personal choice, spent the weekend trying to pull every dangling cable and what its connected to down, was a a bit worn out on the monday was having to hand feed him and syringe water, he went to get up for a wonder around and just came to a stop. bit gutted to be honest.
  21. possibly but more for short booms the shop bought ones can be a bit long something like a three inch boom and 5 inch supple section hair rig.
  22. you guys need to put up pics of the finished rig thinking of getting a set for combis with the boom and knot tied supple end.
  23. in fact i think Kevin Nash should sponsor me, imagine the sales kudos being able to say the titan is endorsed by the pikey community and if he was to bung in a super light sleep system, i will give him permission to use government tartan as a camo option in the whole range, bet he would love that.
  24. you'll be alright can post what you like in here even stupid memes
