I understand why this petition was created (catapults being used to attack animals), but it is certainly a sledge hammer to crack a peanut. Whilst it is abhorrent that any animal is targeted by anyone, I'm glad that those in power recognise the importance of their use in a legitimate pass time. Criminalise the action and enforce the penalties, not the tools. Get more police on the streets and get them out of their cars. I can't remember the last time I saw a bobby on the beat. It's probably too late for the local police stations. There's been too many efficiency drives for the police to truly be able to crack down on antisocial & criminal behaviour in towns, let alone in the countryside.

That's great news and a sign of a good company. The last thing they want is an unhappy customer.

I wouldn't be worried about contacting them about the issue. I'm sure they'll be more keen to know about potential problems ASAP than getting upset. How a company deals with issues tells you what they are like and whether you should support them in the future. Give them a chance to put it right.

Some fox rage gloves, a selection of halibut pellets from 3mm to 30mm and some rig tubing. My son who's never really shown an interest in fishing want to catch a catfish. The nearest local for catfish requires you to have gloves and tubing if fishing for cats, so I'll give these a go.

I finished my couple of days with a blank unfortunately, but it just reminded me what a loss the place is. The jungle on the old lake was supposed to be fantastic for tench. That was the part that was only accessible by boat. I also had some really nice tench and bream whilst fishing for carp on the old lake. Apparently the old lake's been netted and most of the specimen fish have been removed and the new owners have plans to use it as a retreat for people who have social issues. They don't need to run it as a fishery. I think it's unlikely fishing will ever return there now. So sad, but so many great memories.

The last cast @ Bury Hill (Temple Lake). I'm supposed to be out of here in 5 minutes, but I think as today is the last days fishing here no one will mind. I never caught here, but it's one of the nicest and safest fisheries I've ever come across.

Hi all. Friday is the last possible day for fishing at Bury Hill in Surrey. It's such a sad loss to the local fishing scene. The old lake closed to fishing a few years ago when the old boat house was sold off and the place became members only. Now the last day is almost upon us, does anyone else have any memories to share of this significant venue. I'm lucky to be able to book on for 36 hours from tomorrow morning, so I'll have one last crack at temple. I've always blanked on temple so far, but had my PB (32lb 10oz) out of the old lake back in May 2013, beating my previous best of 12lb by a big margin. Hopefully something will be arranged for fishing in the future, but who knows. It will be missed.

Sorry to be facetious, but coated braid hooklinks. Can you be a little more specific in what you're after? Are you after suggestions on extra supple coated braid hooklinks? Do they allow mono hooklinks? I'm not sure I've ever seen a fishery ban mono or similar style hooklinks, but there's a first time for everything.

There's more detail on it here. Looks interesting if not necessarily the traditional way of doing things. They're only trying to provide a supply to a demand. They're a business. It's one possible future.

Sounds really interesting. Any idea of cost? My biggest concern is weather/overnight temps in March though. Buckinghamshire is easy to get to for me, so if you can confirm how long/dates and cost that would be great.

Personally, I'm currently using the Daiwa Crosscast EXT 3.5lb 10ft rods. Previously I was using some Greys Prodigy Plus 2.75lb 12ft rods. They are both through action rods and play fish really nicely. The one big difference I notice between the 2 sets of rods with keeping everything else the same is the casting distance. I've sure I've lost a good percentage of my casting distance. I'm sure I used to be able to hit around 100yds pretty easily with the 12ft rods, but with the 10ft rods, I feel that I'm struggling to hit 80yds. That's the trade off. The big benefit of the shorter rods is that they are much easier to transport. I because the bottom section of the rods are telescopic, the full length of the Crosscasts is less than the width of my car. I can lay them across the back seat rather than having to load them in from the back and thread them between seats etc. This also means I can take them on holiday a lot easier with a full car. If you're happy with the limited range or can use a bait boat or similar with them, the shorter rods would be great, but if you're fishing a larger water and need the casting distance, you'll need the longer rods. Different tools for different jobs and scenarios.

Hi all, I don't know if you have seen, but this year seems to have been a bad year for KHV. Currently the only control notices in force have all been issued this year. Controls of fish and shellfish diseases in England and Wales - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) I know of another club lake not listed that has had an initial designation placed on it and has fishing banned until KHV has been confirmed or ruled out. What is it about this year that has caused such a resurgence when it looks like it had almost disappeared?
