  1. Cheers mate, I will have a look. I know Uxbridge Rovers but hadn't heard of the others and the locations are perfect to get to work after an overnight. Is it just Kingsmoor you fish?
  2. Thanks Bivvy, I already live between the two. It's now though 1-2 days a week. 4 days means I won't see her except weekends. I have a flat in Ruislip, I grew up in Ruislip so I'm quite familiar with London. I grew up fishing the River Colne and occasionally fished lakes but I mainly float or feeder fished the rivers.
  3. I might at some point, Rachel works up here and London house prices are ridiculous, as is beer and eating out and well just about everything. So that's a huge decision.
  4. My fishing plans for this season have been thrown into disarray. I've just been promoted at work and that means 4 days a week in my London home and weekends back in the Midlands with my partner. Given the amount of time I'll be away, I can't see me doing many weekends up here. I'll be working in Uxbridge and may try to do some overnight sessions nearby. I wondered does anyone know any clubs that would be suitable. I'm not looking for anything exclusive, just somewhere I can get on without extortionate fees as I'll still be limited on time. The other alternative may be to go fish Thorney Weir or Farlows on day tickets but this could get expensive given session lengths will be 12 hours or less.
  5. Does anyone own the fishing rights? I've found looking through some of the match reports for particular clubs can give you some decent insight. There's a few stretches near me a bit nearer Stafford that I've found decent reports for and will try to get on them this year. Only problem being I've just got a new job back in London, so pre-baiting becomes difficult for when I'm back on weekends.
  6. Yes, yes it does. That's how I tie them, a chod rig and then attach a boom. Usually I use a stiff coated braid but you could use a fluoro or other stiff material.
  7. Go on YouTube. Search "Carl and Alex fishing". They fish Tanyards a lot and put up videos of their fishing. There are quite a few filmed there. So you can see the swims and baits and what worked.
  8. Is this the place Carl and Alex fish? If so, there are quite a few videos of them there.
  9. I'm sure he'll answer but he's Luton based.
  10. I'm sure someone has posted a rather lengthy post somewhere on here with his trials and tribulations and ultimately rewards from fishing there. It's titled rainbow success.
  11. Dan.... with anything other than uncoated braid I think going loop to loop on a swivel may create your hook link to kick out at a funny angle. What NM is recommending is ideal. Just pull the hook link before casting to ensure it hasn't been moved by sliding the rig sleeve on. Other than that tension will keep it where it's meant to be.
  12. I only just bought a new stove, have tried it twice as had a cheap one that struggled in winter. I went with the t4 bulin on recommendation elsewhere. Seems good so far from the little use it has had.
  13. Reedy let me know how you get on, on the canals. I'll be doing my own sessions on them this year, so would be good to hear what works from you.
  14. It was a holiday and I hoped to get some fishing in but didn't in the end. It was too expensive and we were uo against it time wise with all the other tours we booked. I didn't even get to dive which is the first time in about 6 years I haven't. I'll ask him for some venue ideas on cats around your area. He may even fish the same pools as you mention. I never pay too much attention as I don't like cats. Cool I'll probably be doing the same. Going to do some plumbing on a local lake soon and start pre-baiting a couple of spots in the hope it pays off.
  15. Reedy I'll have a word with a friend who fishes for cats. I know quite often he heads up mk way but unsure if that's for Carp. I know the waters he fishes tend to have both as the peeson he goes with fishes for Carp. He'll probably say you're better waiting til it's warmer. if you're fishing a canal I'd think you need to be mobile unless you're pre-baiting so try to cut everything right back and just take what you need and keep moving every few hours. I'm going to be fishing some canals this year. If they're club stretches I've found quite often you can gain a lot by reading the match reports. I'll give you a shout in the new year when it's warmer if you fancy going out on another session somewhere?
  16. I'm in a similar position this weekend. Fishing a lake I've never fished before. I don't even know it's size and no information is available on it. I'll be getting there on sunrise, hoping to spot any fish. Then simple tactics a little feed to start and simple rigs and willing to move. If I start picking up fish more feed will go in. If you introduce 100 boilies the chances yours will go will be 1% drop to 10 and you're at 10% if a fish moves in. I'll also have some mixers as if the weather remains reasonably warm there's always a chance on top and makes finding them easier. Any time I fish a new water on a short session I'd follow similar tactics.
  17. I think you have to make your own mind up. £210 is cheap compared to some syndicates. Different syndicates will suit different people. You need to weigh it up on what you want from your fishing. £210 vs day ticket prices at £20 for 24 hrs works out at good value over a year if you get out enough. Then you need to work out if it has a stock that interests you. Some people will pay silly money to chase specific fish or a high number of 30+ fish. If you're just happy being on the bank then stock is less important. Where in Stafford are you? Some clubs are good value Blackfords progressive angling near Stafford have some good looking waters and is £30 per rod for a season. There's some others as well. That might offer more variety than just one lake.
  18. It's the same lake someone else was discussing. There's a few comments there, mainly Hawkman who has fished it. http://www.carp.com/topic/20124-do-i-or-dont-i/
  19. Separate to your question, you're Derby way aren't you? Guessing from the lakes you've mentioned previous. Have you fished allestree park lake? I've just seen it somewhere else. Looks like it holds some nice Carp. By the looks of them, I'm guessing clearish water which helps finding them. [emoji6]
  20. I did mean a conference, where they attend. It tends to be the most visited stand on the day. I wonder why? If only I could rig the contests on yhe day as they have included pool partys in LA with Monster.
  21. Monster girls are one of the few things I get to look forward to when attending work conferences. In fact I have one soon [emoji2]
  22. A member Liamclose of here has fished it. Believe they have a lost a lot of their old fish and their re-stocking decisions haven't been the best from our chat on it. Depends what you want from a fishery I guess.
  23. Any succesful company relies on recruiting new users to it's brand. Korda have done a fantastic job at recruiting people to their brand. They've tapped into a growing number of people entering the sport and made it accessible. Through their youtube account and website and used this to recruit new carpers rather than trying to win more experienced anglers. That's where there success is. The korda products I have used I've found to do what they're meant to and can't really knock them. I think they get hate as they're associated more closely with new less inexperienced anglers that the more experienced anglers like to knock and so korda gets picked on as a result.
  24. I don't think it's anymore expensive than a coated braid. Just can't get my head round it but heard lots and lots of good feedback on it.
  25. I just got some n-trap. The hydrolink is completely different. A fluoro coated in braid, where you removed the inner or outer depending on what you want.
